Beautiful and challenging hike!

This was an amazing hike in a remote jungle area, high above the mountains above Medellin. Erwin was a great guide and shared much information about native plants trees, grasses, animals, birds, and more. He shared the history of the trail which is thousands of years old. Because I speak Spanish, we spoke completely in Spanish the whole day, but he also speaks good English. This is a Trail that you would not want to attempt on your own. There are no trail markings once you start and it would be easy to get lost. Plus, you would miss out on all, the great information Erwin shares. He is a delightful, thoughtful guide. I will say that the hike was much harder than I anticipated. I brought poles and if you have hiking poles, I highly recommend them. It’s basically straight up and pretty much straight down. With very little flat. Took us about five hours to do the “medium” version of this hike. I am a pretty fit, regular hiker. I would rate this of 4.5 out of 5 in terms of difficulty. And about a 4.5 for beauty. Plan to bring your own lunch and snacks, sunscreen, a hat, and very good hiking shoes. There are options to go further and higher but he said not too many people do that. But if you’re very fit, you could certainly do that. Highly recommend!

I loved this hike, Erwin was a great guide. I am a plant nerd, and loved seeing all the things that I can only grow as house plants, in their actual natural habitat. This was probably the most difficult hike I've ever done, I wasn't sure that I'd be able to make it to the top, but Erwin encourage me and told me that I could make it. And I did! He was a great guide and he showed me edible flowers and berries and stems that I tried. Delicious. I live at sea level, so the higher elevation was difficult for me, but Erwin was patient with me, and stopped whenever I needed to, i'm sure it was a snails pace for him! Would highly recommend as it's only a half an hour outside the city, and we didn't see anyone on our way up, and only 6 people on the way down, very private, secluded location.

The hiking trip was amazing and we highly recommend! Edwin was our guide. We would rate this particular hike as moderate but it was fully customizable to our needs including the length, rest times, pace etc. We crossed shallow streams but stayed dry and we did not encounter any biting insects (compared to other reviews). The hike location was beautiful - quiet and you are fully emersed in nature. Edwin was personable and very knowledgeable with great English. He offers numerous other hiking options and tours so I recommend reaching out even if this particular hike is not what you are looking for. We will definitely be using him in the future for all additional hiking adventures!

Erwin was great, so knowledgeable, fun, and kind!!! He def knew his way around and couldn’t have imagined doing something like this alone or without a solid guide. Hike was tiring in a good way, not overly challenging but with some stops about 3.5 hours to two waterfalls which were gorgeous! Highly recommend if you want a beautiful nature filled experience and like being very active! Will def do another hike with him next time I’m here!

I had a great time hiking with Erwin in the forests and moutains situated close by the city. The area is awesome and so peaceful. I also learned much more about Columbia thanks to Erwin, very friendly person. I highly recommend the hiking!

Thanks for such an excellent hike! Erwin was a fantastic guide and took us to a really quiet park just outside the City in late March 2022, we hardly saw any other walkers once we set off. The hike through mountains and waterfalls and caves was absolutely beautiful, and we learned a load about the flora, fauna and history of the area from Erwin who spoke fluent English and Spanish. He provided lots of options for more or less strenuous activities based on how we were feeling, and even took us on a mini City tour when we finished our hike a bit before 5pm. I think his company (?Aventura San Francisco) also organizes longer, multi-day hikes across the country - definitely hope to do one of those next time we come back to Colombia. Highly recommend this trip overall!

Had a wonderful time on this hike. The trail was incredible, and the guide was knowledgeable & friendly. He pointed out plants and animals, and provided multiple different trail options depending on how long/hard we wanted to hike. Highly reccomend!

Beautiful scenery. Our guide Ervin was great, his tour narrative was very informative. He was very flexible in trail selection, even during the hike. We had a great time. Make sure you inform the tour operator if you have any mobility limitations or health conditions. This will help selection of the right trail.
