Overview
With its broad mix of Mediterranean influences, Malta has a vibrant culture reflected in many walks of life, including its art. Maltese tiles are a great example and also happen to be nifty souvenirs, especially when you can visit a small art studio in Marsa and take a workshop to design them yourself under the guidance of an art teacher.

It was a calming space to paint tiles. Clive was knowledgeable, supportive and very kind. We all had a really good time and were happy with our experience. Would recommend for anyone in Malta who wants a traditional Maltese experience from a local.

This was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. The artists workshop was interesting and quirky. The artist is really cool and as a local has interesting information about this island. The tile making is really relaxing and therapeutic- and a super souvenir. Highly recommended.

Brilliant little break from the hustle and bustle of Malta to focus and enjoy painting tiles with Clive.

Clive was a warm host, who made our experience amazing! I was travelling to Malta with family friends, one of whom was a teenager interested in crafts (like me!). We selected this activity together, as it looked very interesting. The activity was set in the ground floor of a wonderfully eclectic and artistic house that Clive is slowly refurbishing. Clive explained the traditional method of making tiles, and he helped us select a traditional pattern to paint onto our tiles. We also spoke about the Maltese art scene, he answered all of our questions about Malta art and culture, talked about Clive's art and differing styles, and overall we had a lovely afternoon. Clive is a very friendly art teacher and explains all about the making of tiles from Malta. You can choose from various designs that are typical for Malta and paint this design on a tile. You do not have to be an experienced painter. You can take the tile home in a nice box, a very nice souvenir from Malta :-)

So recommendable! With Clive, it was great time to understand the Maltese traditional and about the tiles :) Also since it was close to Easter, he shared some baked snacks which is Maltese traditional again! If you would like to experience genuine and authentic Maltese culture, it is the way!

This was a great experience and a way to do something a little different than the usual museums and boat trips. Clive was so nice and made the experience fun and engaging. I loved the idea of this. Ps, when looking for the location, google maps sends you to the wrong side of the street.

Absolutely wonderful experience, Clive was very knowledgable and absolutely fabulous host. We learned all about the tiles we were painting on and came away with a gorgeous tile which we painted ourselves. Definitely recommend !!
