We enjoyed this experience. It was high energy from the start with friendly chefs and lively music. We made delicious meals and learned techniques I can try at home. We also had a fruit sampling and I tried one that left a big impression. Food us culture and this cooking class gives you a deeper look into Peruvian culture.

The most amazing chef and tour guide. I had soooo much fun that I immediately booked a second tour with them to visit Huaca Pucclana later that same day! We prepared a number of dishes and feasted on an assortment s potatoes, sauces and fruits. Washed it down with a glass of wine that was at an added cost and enjoyed for free their traditional drink made of corn!

My partner and I went to the cooking class to learn how to cook Lomo saltado and causa. Gio was very responsive and knowledgeable. Marcos was also a great chief and made things very easy to learn and understand. We loved learning how to make the food and it tasted great. The kitchen was very nice and had everything needed to learn and the whole set up was nice and professional. It was one of the best experiences we had during our stay and Marcos and Gio were amazing. I would definitely recommend.

Delicious learning experience!

Booked this as a solo excursion because it was easily walkable from my hotel and included dinner. The kitchen is located in a very safe building with a desk manager, on the 9th floor. Cooks Aaron and a woman whose name I can’t remember were so welcoming and hospitable! One other couple joined me for a group of 3. Each step was explained with great detail as to the origin of the ingredients as well as the purpose of their use in the dish. We made CAUSA - a quinoa, yellow potato, veggie tower- as an appetizer and wok-seared beef with vegetable dish for dinner. Presentation was emphasized each step of the prep and coking. Highly recommend!

Definitely recommend! We got to try out a bunch of fruit and potatoes from Peru, cook lomo saltado, causa, and make pisco sours. The chef, and our tour guide Aaron, were both incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and made the experience so much fun. Would do it again and would recommend to all ages. Sign up!

We had the most amazing Peruvian cooking class with Gaby and Chef Manuel! We learned every step to make deliscious Loma Saltado and causa. We cannot wait to eat our left over food for dinner! Aaand we cannot wait to cook these dishes when we get home so we can bring some Peru back with us. The team at Haku Tours was so great with communication throughout our booking process. They made everything very clear. For our class we were the only ones so we had a private class with the chef which we know was just pure luck, but it was great! They walked us through every step and helped us photo chronicle the experience for us to remember. Both Chef Manuel and Gaby gave us so much information about Peruvian culture and food, and our class was in this amazing chef’s kitchen with a beautifully set table for us to enjoy our food after we cooked it. I highly recommend this cooking experience with them.

I was the only student, and it felt like a private cooking class! Chef Marco and translator Mauricio were amazing — kind, funny, and professional. Marco shared all his secrets for authentic Peruvian dishes, and everything was done with elegance. I loved tasting all the food at the end. Highly recommended! Giovanna and Marco were excellent hosts and the food making process was so fun. It was a great way to practice Spanish with them (totally optional, they ask if you prefer English or Spanish for the class, and we spoke English as well) Would highly recommend as an introduction to Peruvian cuisine!!

I took part in this cooking class on 17th June, alongside a lovely lady from France and a young couple from the USA. We made lomo saltado and causa—both of which I was trying for the very first time, and they quickly became two of my absolute favourite dishes during my two-week holiday in Peru. I'm so glad I had the chance to learn how to make them, as I’m now excited to recreate them at home! It was such a fun and enjoyable activity—a brilliant alternative to a typical excursion. The hosts were hilarious, warm, and incredibly engaging. Then again, that’s no surprise—Peruvians are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. I would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone visiting Lima, and I’d happily do it all over again!

We did the cooking class with Karina as our chef and Ceasar as our food guide. Karina only spoke Spanish, but she was effective in conveying instructions on what to do. Caesar was very fun and could translate when necessary. We made two dishes that were both delicious and fun to make. This was one of the cheaper cooking classes available, but it was still a great experience. My only criticism was that even though we collectively did about 80% of the cooking, no one person did everything. Everyone had different tasks we were doing at the same time. That plus Karina doing about 20% of the cooking be herself on the side may make it harder to follow the recipe at home. I wish there was a longer option where everyone could make their own from start to finish. That said, this was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

It was a great experience! Our “guide”, Maverick, was great - knowledgeable, engaging, and funny! Our chef was great. She spoke primarily Spanish but Maverick immediately translated everything. The food was great, especially considering the group did much of the preparation as a team! I definitely recommend!

Learn the Culture of Coastal Peru through Cooking

We had an incredible time during this experience. Our “guide” Aron & chef Carmen guided us through the cuisine of Peru in a fun and exciting way. Regardless of your skill level in the kitchen (our group is novices), you will learn something new. Trying the different fruits and vegetables (many I had never even heard of as an American) made me appreciate the rich ecological diversity of Peru. Beware: these are not fruits found in grocery stores, our chef picked them up from the market that morning. Making our own food made me appreciate the differences and similarities of our cultures and cuisines. Sharing the kitchen with the other members of our group facilitated fast friendships as we learned about the other group members lives. While this experience is on the long side (don’t arrive hungry) the time flew by and we were kept fed by the numerous courses. The only negative, and it’s only minor is the kitchen is in a high rise building on the ninth floor. I wasn’t expecting that, because the office being on the 9th floor wasn’t conveyed to us on our tickets. But the friendliness of the staff and chef more than made up for it. I endorse this experience, especially as a primer to the cuisine of coastal Peru.

Really good value cooking class in the centre of Miraflores! We cooked a starter and main course - the cooking was shared between the group which made it a collaborative & fun atmosphere as opposed to all making our individual dishes. Would thoroughly recommend!
