Our transportation was clean, the guide was very friendly. The private property where the tour takes place is very beautiful. Just be aware that this is not a jungle hike. This is a short walk in the small wooded area and around small ponds of the property. Wildlife seen is mainly frogs. Dinner was very good.
Jocsan & Beto drove us out to La Tigra and then showed us the grounds where we saw all kinds of wildlife: frogs of all kinds & even a sloth! The rain almost made it better because all of the frogs come out when it rains. Good thing I bought a poncho once we got there! The three course dinner (soup, entree, dessert) was also amazing. We had a good time sharing photos in the car ride back. Would definitely recommend 10/10
Such a fun experience. We were able to see many frogs throughout the night. Our tour guide Valeria was great, she was well educated on the types of frogs and environment.
We were able to end the night with a great home cooked meal that was delicious.
I definitely recommend to anyone traveling to this area!
By far the best tour on our trip. Cyndy was incredible. She was so knowledgeable and kind, we loved listening to her share about all the animals we saw- and we saw a lot. Food was delicious! Highly recommend this tour.
Albert was a warm and friendly guide and Benecio was a great driver. Albert pointed out multiple frogs, insects, lizards and birds that we would have easily missed seeing with him. The meal was delicious and local. The property grounds were lush and vibrant.
Nice place to visit. Rained the whole time but the team was great and guy was very knowledgeable and passionate about bugs and reptiles. It was nice to be without a big group. Food was like family prepared so authentic.
The is a family home that has been slightly converted to support tours; but still 100% owned and operated by the family who live there. We got there and it started to rain... hard which put a damper on our plans so we pivoted a bit. Instead of doing dinner at the end they served it first. Costa Rican dishes are what we call "meat on the bones" back home - this dish was chicken cooked into a rice mixture with black beans and salad. It was so good - we also had a lentil soup that was amazing!
By this time the rain had at slowed down to a drizzle and the lightening had stopped so we decided to go ahead with at least some of the tour - frogs at night. We saw so many cute little guys - we only did I think 1/2 of the regular tour but it was wet and raining... that being said it was also fun. How many folks can say they hiked in the rain, at night, to see frogs? Hike... well that may be an exaggeration; walked around a person's well established yard trail... It was cool and I'm grateful we pushed on and did it.
I'd like to come back on an evening it isn't raining and do the full hike. For full disclosure it was our choice to not continue in the rain the guide was more than willing to get as wet as we wanted to. He was really great.
The night walk w/dinner was okay. We were expecting to see monkeys & sloths but most of the walk was about the different species of frogs, spiders & birds. The dinner was authentically delicious!! The ride from LaFortuna was 45 mins away each way which felt so long on the way back.
Wonderful experience with a lovely family welcoming into their home. Dinner made over a wood fired stove and everything fresh and organic.
Our family of seven and one infant had a wonderful experience discovering all sorts of creatures. Every twenty feet something was found. And, the fresh home cooking to end the evening was excellent.
Knowing beforehand about the 45 minute drive would have been a deal breaker, but the whole experience made the drive worth it.
Thanks for the memories!

The guide, Andres, was extremely knowledgeable. The property, walk, and dinner were great. Saw a variety of frogs and insects, as well as a sloth and red Macaw. Having Andres’ binoculars and the flashlights were extremely helpful
We had the best experience on our night tour! Our guide, Yara, was so knowledgeable about all of the animals and noises and was able to find so many frogs, lizards, bugs and even a sloth! She knew so much about the area and the history! It said in the tour description that there was a typical
Costa Rican dinner, what we did not know was that it was at the home of a family that owns the property went to! It was an amazing meal! And the family was so kind and shared about their home and the land! They even had an adorable dog Nala! We had our kids with us and the other people on the tour were older but Yara was able to speak to the kids and adults alike and was so kind and helpful! It was a great tour!
Our family had a lot of fun on this tour. I’ll start with the positives. The property they take you to is beautiful. It’s a family estate with a gorgeous house and gardens. The dinner is amazing; they cook it for you right on the open stove. The guide was also very knowledgeable and passionate about nature. Only reason isn’t five stars is I thought we’d get to see a little more wildlife. We saw frogs and some insects, which were very cool, but was hoping for some snakes and mammals. Of course there’s no guarantee will see anything because some nights animals might not come out but if you’re looking for a walk through a thick rainforest this isn’t really it. Is all on one private property out in country so less chances will see some species. So whether to book this tour depends on what you’re looking for. If you want guaranteed frogs and a great dinner this is for you. If want good chance for more diversity might be other better tours.
This was a worthwhile trip. The kids had fun scouting out bugs and frogs in the dark. Our guide captured amazing photos for us. The property was stunning and the food was probably the most delicious we had in all of Costa Rica. My kid is still talking about the yummy potato, lentil soup. I didn't realize it was as far from La Fortuna as it was but it was still worth it.
This is a must do trip. We drove to a family farm and then walked through the farm learning about all their plants and wildlife. They went out of their way to find wildlife for us. We saw a giant bullfrog, the blue jeans frog, the red eye frog, and the smallest frog in the world, also a sloth. Very informative and enjoyable. The dinner was delicious.
My boyfriend and I had a great time on this walk. It's hosted by a family who have a beautiful yard that you walk through to see different types of animals/flowers. We saw a red eyed frog, turtles, toads, lizards. The food was good at the end as well. I would recommend!
Pouring rain for our night walk - I should’ve brought a better rain jacket :). Saw plenty of wildlife though it was definitely more focused on insects, birds, and frogs than sloths or other mammals. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The food was typical Casado, very good.
A nice little hike in the dark, in the forest! In the company of frogs and birds! Then a delicious dinner on site!
This was a trip highlight for sure. The host and owner was so knowledgeable and friendly. The property is stunning. The food was real, home cooked, and authentic. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful time! Tour was fun and food was delicious. Albert was great! It was a cool experience eating and mingling with other folks at dinner. I would recommend it!
Great tour with Andre. We saw sloths many frogs & toads- a few birds even a praying mantis. Dinner was very good. Beautiful views.
This is a small group tour. We had a total of 8 in the group. Wonderful gardens to walk around and see wildlife. The food was great. Well worth it. The tour guide was knowledgeable.
This tour was very special. The property is beautiful and magical. The family welcomed us and cooked us a beautiful home made meal. We got to see so many things on the night walk.
We were expecting a normal night hike but this tour takes it to the next level. You drive to a beautiful botanic garden where you are welcomed with fresh juice on a beautiful scenic patio overlooking tropical gardens and a volcano view. It was rainy when we went so we couldn’t see the volcano through the clouds. On the night hike our guide was informative and helped us find many types of beautiful frogs amd plants. We even saw a kinkajou. After the hike we went back to the house for a home cooked costs rica dinner. The dinner was delicious and the family that hosts is so warm and friendly. Highly recommend to get away from the crowds and have a relaxing evening.
Miner was a great guide and spotted so many animals we were hoping to see. He is very knowledgeable and made our night fun. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to see frogs!
Amazing experience! Highly recommend! Food was delicious, guides were fantastic. Very neat experience!
The walk through the grounds was spectacular. Our guide was very knowledgeable and could easily spot creatures for us, also willing to capture excellent pictures. It was a honor to eat the family dinner. Everything was exceptional from lentil soup to coconut dessert.
The night walk was both exciting and educational. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and had a great eye for spotting wildlife.
Wr definitely saw frogs! At least 4 different types. It is an easy walk around a family property. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
This was a perfect start to our vacation in Costa Rica doing the rainforest night walk. Everyone was so friendly and we loved seeing all the creatures at night. Just be prepared that you will take a shuttle van to the property which is about 35 minutes away (Wasn’t an issue just to prepare you). I highly recommend this excursion!
