Dan was a great guide and very well prepared. We saw lots of frogs (including the red eyed tree frog!), butterflies, leafcutter ants, etc. The path through the park was well paved and not muddy, even though it started pouring during the tour. I think it would be better if they could talk some more about the plants in the park as a lot of them look really cool! Overall would highly recommend :) I'm glad the tour helps support conservation in the area as well!

This tour is amazing and I cannot say enough positive things about this excursion. We (2 adults, 1 young child) did a private night tour with Shyla and it was super informative and exciting. We saw tree frogs mating, saw a coral snake, and so many other interesting creatures. Anura Ecotourism is about 22 minutes outside of La Fortuna downtown area. Highly recommend for families (even with younger children)

Alberto made this walk absolutely amazing. His love for and knowledge of the land and animals made this so fun. This tour was so fun!! It is definitely for someone that is patient and okay with not seeing many animals. Our guide was Francisco (AMAZING btw) and he did a great job at finding and explaining the insects and animals that we saw. In our tour, we didn't really see too much, which was okay with me. Like our guide explained, its nature, so we can't really know what that day will be there, and it has been the dryer season so not a lot of animals are drawn to the ponds there.

Alberto had put so much heart and work into is ecological refuge! We learned so much from him about plants, birds, insects, and animals in the area and how they interact in the rainforest ecosystem. Highly recommend!

Alberto is the most passionate guide we’ve ever had on a tour! He truly loves what he does, and his explanations are incredibly interesting—from plants to frogs, from insects to birds. We had a wonderful night tour with Alberto, the biologist and owner. It ended up being just our family, which made the experience extra special. Alberto was warm with our kids and followed their curiosity, using each moment to teach in a way that felt reassuring. His phrase “knowledge is power” helped them feel comfortable with the wildlife around us.
We got up close to red-eyed frogs and caiman. We also saw bats, fireflies, many different types of birds, insects, spiders and plants, and learned how each species fits into the ecosystem. The walk was short, paved, and easy, taking just under two hours. There are two resident sloths on the property; we didn’t spot them this time, but we loved hearing about how Alberto is restoring the land with native plants and watching the forest come back to life.
A meaningful, engaging experience for families. Highly recommend!

The tour was personable, educational and all around amazing. The guide was able to point out animals that that I would have 100% missed. He allowed us to walk at our own pace, patiently waited for us to take videos and photos and was was all around a great experience

Alberto is a passionate biologist who dedicates his time to this carefully crafted plot of nature. We did an evening tour with him and saw lots of smaller animals - notably the various frog species of course 😃! His English is very good (Alberto is from Spain) and he managed to explain the wonders of biology in understandable ways - you can’t escape from becoming an enthusiast and look at Costa Rican nature very differently from then on. The Night Tour with Alejandro was Amazing! His life work has been to buy this large tract of land, FULL of an astounding array of animals and amphibians, insects an serpents, and, working 2 jobs, pour all his resources and effort into personally protecting it from any and all encroachments while hand-building natural walkways that allow him to showcase and share the wonder of the Night Walk experience with curious visitors.
For safety, he leads, setting a slow, deliberate pace, and with each of us having been given our own flashlight, we all become explorers, as he shows us and teaches us how and where to look for the many night animals and insects hidden away within plain sight.
The tour was EXCELLENT, his love and dedication to the environment, could not have been better -what my wife and I learned from him about how to spot animals and where to look to see the amphibians and insects that are hidden (unless you know how to find/see them) allowed us to experience many more encounters with Costa Rican wildlife of every sort for the whole rest of our vacation!
We couldn't more strongly encourage you to take this tour with Alejandro, and do it early in your visit to Costa Rica, so you'll know how to discover and experience all the life hiding around you during the rest of your vacation!
