Good communication to confirm pick-up time the day before. The guides are responsible and helpful who shared with us about the volcanos and looked after us in general.
Timing was alright, not too long or short in each experience. Though the hike (despite not belong a long hike) to the volcano viewpoint was upwards with stairs which may be a little challenging for some.

This tour was a blast. We started with the waterfall, which was incredible and a decent trek up/down some stairs. The volcano hike was so fun. Our guide was telling us and showing us lots of medicinal plants along the way. We saw 2 sloths, some howler monkeys, and lots of beautiful plants. Hiking through the jungle and getting to see the magma rock and volcano was so cool. Lunch was delicious. We finished with the natural hot springs that the locals love and the guide even had a traditional clay face mask we could put on and then rinse off in the springs. A very relaxing way to end a day of hiking.

AMAZING ADVENTURE!!!!! Bring a change of shoes for the hike/falls/hotsprings. You’re gonna have the best time. A packed day fully worth it.

I had a really good experience! I felt like I got a taste of pretty much most of the things I was expecting. They send you updates when your driver is there to pick you up (greatly appreciated). I will admit at times that it was kind of confusing because we had to hop on different buses midway through the tour and pick up other passengers. But overall, the tour guides were really nice and knowledgeable (I had Sergio and he was cool!). We also ended up switching tour guides too midway. It was a little confusing but nevertheless worth every penny. Lunch was provided, you get the option to choose (they also have options for those with special diets or dietary restrictions). We ate altogether in a beautiful dining area right after our hike to the Arenal Volcano. Fortuna is a great destination to explore and this company highlights just some of the many beautiful things to do in the area. We even saw monkeys and various critters native to the area. As a solo traveler, I’m quite satisfied with this activity and company :)

The overall tour was good but they kept moving you between vehicles and pairing you up with other groups and people depending on the tour options selected. This didn’t allow you to leave your stuff in the vehicles at stops (so be sure to pack in a way that you can carry everything with you) or really get to connect with your guide and others on the tour. That said, all the stops were great and we enjoyed seeing the La Fortuna waterfall, hiking up to see the Arenal Volcano and taking a dip in the hot springs. You will doing a lot of walking/ hiking so be prepared for that and bring water and water bottles. Lunch was also really good and very welcome after a long hike up to the base of the volcano.

This was a full amazing day. The stairs up and down to water fall are not so bad if you take breaks and pace yourself. The hike portion was strenuous if you are not fit. However, I am 52 and not fit and I still made it to the top. I slept well that night! The lunch they gave was good. I was exausted but felt so good after the last stop at the hot spring. To note: they bring you to the natural hot spring that you access off the side of the road. It is not one of the resorts. Which was fine with me as I wanted to experience this one. The entire tour was a an experience of a lifetime. It wss beautiful and our tour guide was great. Highly recommend this tour. But it is not for the weak. Its alot of exercise.

It’s a lot of fun and very worth it. However you do need to be in somewhat physical shape because it is a lot of walking, steps, and some very rocky areas you have to go through. Other than that it was lots of fun and would definitely recommend

The experience was great but there was ALOT OF WALKING AND STEPS. My legs and body was aching so bad because of it. I workout and do cardio and strength training but unless you do the stairclimber your body will ache. There were points where my husband, who’s in better shape than me, wanted to give up. Besides that the sights were beautiful and the tour guides were great.

It's a lot of tough hiking, especially the volcano. If you know that ahead of time, it's great. Sergio was a great guide!

You get to see a lot in a short period of time
The only issue we had was waiting for all guests to arrive and/or pick up patrons from their hotels. Randel and Frandel were fun tour guides. Good communicators and entertaining.
Saket_D, Mar 2026
It was a fun trip overall. Abel and the other staff gave clear directions and were excellent. The hot springs was very relaxing after the long hike up the Volcano. But even though the volcano hike was fun, it got a little uneventful because most of the time we just walked the trail without having much opportunity to explore.

Johnny was a great tour guide. All of the places are very cool. A few notes I thought might be helpful: the waterfall is down about 500 steps and then you have to come back up the same way. Worth it, but notable if you have any accessibility considerations or worried about fitness. The volcano hike is about 3 miles long. We saw monkeys, toucans, other birds and frogs as well as the volcano. Johnny got several photos of cool animals and helped us share them across our group. Lunch was a little cold and lacked flavor but was brought to us at the end of the hike (around 1:30 or 2) I was glad I brought a little snack for before the hike. Also glad to have lots of water and swim clothes/hike clothes ready!

We enjoyed it very much. The volcano was a short view . Hot springs was not good. Food was reasonable
Prashant_J, Mar 2026
The package for the three attractions - waterfalls, volcano hike and hot springs was $100. The local guides did a good job, bus service was basic and there were a lot of pick up and drop offs between the waterfalls and the hike.
5 stars to the guides Abel and Aron. They were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. But the lower rating of 4-star is due to fact that you guys (Viator) did not specify what hot springs were included in th package. We expected to be taken to a decent hot springs place, but the entire group was taken to the roadside free hot springs spot where other public also comes. The spots to sit in the river were limited, no changing areas and the water was like always at best. Felt robbed of a good hot springs experience. The package included the
But if you have a rental car you can do all these things by yourself and probably save some money.

It ticked all the boxes. We enjoyed the waterfall, we took the easy walk in Arenal and Sergio our guide was very informative with regards the history. The hot springs were quite busy but we enjoyed them.

First off, it is NOT an easy time. The stairs at the waterfall and the hike to the Volcano is strenuous. Be prepared.
That said, Norlan/Norland (sp) was our guide for the entire day. Charismatic and intelligent. He was funny, approachable and super knowledgeable. The waterfall was super scenic and the views of the hike/volcano were hampered by the rainy weather but an unforgettable experience. The lunch was very good which surprised me. We then went to the hot springs with another tour guide whose name I didn't get. Those of us who booked the entire day, We waited in the bus for 20 minutes as the guide waited on a few others from another group.
We got to the springs and received no instructions. No way to reach anyone, no meet up time, nothing which in hindsight, I wish I got clarity on. After about an hour, a friend we made on the tour grabbed her stuff and told my partner and I that she was going to check. We got up and prepared as well, only to see the guide approach us and telling us that we could have gone in the area closer to him and that he was about to leave had it not been for our friend finding him and letting him know that they were missing two. That was WILDLY disappointing and irresponsible.
The falls were great, the hike scenic, the springs relaxing, Norland amazing and that other guide, careless. Had it not been for the last interaction, clear 10/10..

This was such a great way to explore La Fortuna! Sergio was an amazing guide and made me laugh the entire time. They are all very caring about safety and even if you don’t make it up to the volcanic rock, you can wait at the picnic tables and still do the other activities. I recommend bringing a waterproof bag for the hot springs so you can take valuables with you as the springs are right off the side of the road and there is no parking at it for the busses. I was glad I brought hiking boots and water shoes as well! Grab an extra bottle of water for the hike as it is around 2 hours total.
Naomi_D, Feb 2026
This is a grueling day and the volcano hike was so much more strenuous than what was presented in the listing. Many on our tour that were younger than us were saying that as well.

This was a great experience, we got to see so much!!! Now lava rocks are slippery, so be careful, and save your glass of wine for the hot water springs, cause it’s supper relaxing!!! I would totally recommend. Catching the local bus to La Fortuna from San Jose was actually great!!

This was a wonderful experience. Had a miscommunication on pick up address but it was quickly resolved and they even sent us a driver to just come back for us. The guides were extremely helpful and did not rush us at any point when we came late. The waterfall walk is strenuous especially with the volcano hike following so be prepared. For the volcano hike there are two paths and even the “easy” path will make you pretty tired with the heat. The hot spring river was fun but wish it was more time but the volcano hike and lunch took most of the time. Overall a very pleasant experience and I’d recommend for those who want to have a planned out experience!

Great guides - really informative about nature and history of the town. Beautiful waterfall, easy hike (if you’re a hiker - others found it challenging) up part of Arenal volcano and a relaxing (but short) time in very natural hot springs. Highly recommend taking water shoes / sandals that strap on to feet for both water activities.

Very good tour guide. Awesome combination of tours. Hit all of our checklist in one day and had lots of fun doing it.
Chris_E, Jan 2026
Views were amazing, trails were as expected. The 2-3km hike straight up at the end is tough but worth it. Not this is NOT a tour, no guide.
Todd_K, Jan 2026
Guides were excellent, we had a blast going to the waterfall, hiking up Arenal, and enjoying the hot springs. We were able to choose a more moderate hiking path which was great. Lunch was very good, the guides were super friendly and we enjoyed the 8 or so hour excursion.
Melissa_K, Dec 2025
A fun experience! The hike was very challenging!!!
Suggest quick dry clothes and hiking sandals if you have them.

This tour had potential to be good but felt a little unorganized. We had a large group and there was a lot of waiting for people or the next thing. Our guides were helpful and considerate of everyone.
Some things to be aware of: La Fortuna waterfall is beautiful and we had the opportunity to swim in the pool at its base as well as further down the river for those who preferred shallower water. However, there are hundreds of steps and anyone who is less fit will feel them on the way down and again on the way up.
The volcano hike was an enjoyable trek through the rainforest, again with a lot of climbing. During our time in La Fortuna the top was cloud covered the entire week. This day was no exception.
The end was a nice wind-down in the river, not technically hot springs but warm and relaxing. It is very helpful to have flip flops or water shoes for this part as walking through the water was quite painful on bare feet with all the sharp rocks.
Yiping_W, Dec 2025
Tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Maybe because it was during Christmas high time, the shuttle is crammed like sardine can, even the aisle flip seats were all utilized. Then shuttle schedule had problem - the shuttle to the hot spring didn’t arrive, after previous volcanoe excursion was long over. We waited an hour at parking lot where other shuttle are idling. Just a note, seems it’s common practice or maybe just this company that switch guides and shuttle between excursions. So you have take all the belongings with you.

First of all, we want to apologize that the tour you do with us do not was as expected.
This high season also was really atypical for us, a lot of last minute reservation overhelmed our reservation, operations and guides departments.
We do learn from our mistakes and believe me that we already are improving avoiding situation as you mention to happen again.
Please get in contact with us via email at marketing@jungletourscr.com, will be a pleasure to get in contact with you and talk

Overall the experience was below average-they picked up on time that is the only positive I have. The guide we had was Mr.Marcos -was the worst of all, he was all over the place, very poor communicator for important things and very detailed for unwanted things. And to top it all he just left us all by ourselves during return journey so I don't see a point in having a guide if he leaves you in the middle of the forest. Overall he just ruined this day for us. Guides should be accomodative for you to enjoy your vacation and that is what they get paid for. If you get Marcos as a guide just run away, he has no plan no proper guidance and a great pompus.Good luck with this tour!

Wonderful experience! Joseph was our guide and he represented authentic Costa Rica. Saw all the animals, and it was unforgettably beautiful!
Scott_G, Dec 2025
Where to begin with what amounted to be a turn n’ burn tourist trap?! The moment we arrived, the guide impatiently yelled and barked at us, demanding we get on a jammed minibus, followed by more barked instructions, calling people out by name, then a long and confusing information/agenda dump that was very hard to understand. And all of this is the first 15 minutes! Times we were told to muster somewhere weren’t respected, but then the guide would rush us off as if to imply we were late. The waterfall site was hectic and the swimming thiugh refreshing, was pretty underwhelming. A fellow tourist nearly drowned though thankfully saved by a strong Algerian swimmer. The stairs up and down were admittedly a decent thigh workout. The top rest area had few food options unless you need a slice of fancy pink cake or warm Milky Way bar after a swim and climb.
Onto the “volcano tour” where we were left to walk from the ticket booth to the second muster point while three other tours bussed up and past us.. The site’s overall wayfinding and signage was confusing and the overall hike up was relatively uneventful and unexciting, to be honest. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say our guide knew the weather wouldn’t allow us to see the actual volcano so he doddled around the trails to stretch the tour’s perceived value. Very little fauna or interesting flora to be seen, muddy and unkempt areas along which quasi-educational commentary was barked inaudibly in multiple directions. Having made it to the top, the basalt flats were interesting but plain, and as the weather would have it, not only could we not see the volcano but had to divine where the peak might be since the guide didn’t think to tell us. He did however give us some interesting geological and sociohistorical bits. The walk down was effortless and then we had lunch - standard casados and it was pretty good albeit simple. After leaving the site, we were bussed to the “hot springs” site and literally parked on the side of a busy road, crossed it, and bumbled down a stony path to a warm stream full of locals and wading tourists - with nowhere to change and garbage strewn about: a very underwhelming “hot springs”.
The whole day’s experience was a very long waste of time and money and with a guide lacking bedside manner, my three stars are generous.
