Jonathan was very knowledgeable sharing a lot of interesting information about chocolate and coffee. We learned a lot about chocolate and got to taste various blends. The coffee tasting was also great. We really enjoyed this tour.
What an incredible experience! Our guide, David, surpassed all of our expectations. Not only did we try delicious chocolate and coffee, but we learned so much about Costa Rican culture and what these beans mean to them. Highly recommend (even if you don’t like chocolate)
My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this tour. We’re in our early 20s and honestly thought it might be a little boring at first, but it ended up being such a fun experience. We got so many samples and learned a lot of genuinely interesting information along the way.
We also got to see howler monkeys and even a sloth, which our guide said was pretty rare and special. That made the experience even more memorable. I’m so glad we decided to take this tour, and our tour guide was an absolute blast.

It is absolutely worth the money. There are plenty of things to try (cocoa, coffee, chocolate …). Our guide Esteban tought us many new things about the harvesting and roasting process.
Esteban was the most enthusiastic, friendly tour guide! The tour was was wonderfuland educational! The tastings were plentiful and delicious!

This is a must doo!!! Valerie did great on explaining everything about the cacao bean. I feel like a coffee connoisseur now … you will also get to see bigotes the cat lol

I did the chocolate and coffee tasting tour with Northfields in La Fortuna, and it was a really enjoyable experience.
The group size was just right – not too big, which made it feel more personal. The guide was knowledgeable and explained everything clearly, which made the tour both interesting and engaging.
I really liked being able to taste chocolate at different cacao levels and try freshly ground coffee. It was also great to see the cacao seeds and learn more about the process from start to finish.
Overall, a great experience and something I would definitely recommend if you’re visiting Costa Rica.

The tour was very in depth and entertaining! Alberto was such a fantastic guide. We got tons of samples throughout the 2.5 hours.
Awesome experience overall. The guide was himself an ex farm worker so he knew all the details very well. We tasted multiple chocolates from 100% coco to 60/40 coco/milk/sugar and many variations between. Same with Coffee. Multiple samples of coffee as well. We also saw and sampled Sugarcane juice and rum. The gift shop was nice. I would highly recommend Northfield for the great education and experience for Coffee and Chocolate tour.
It was very informative & lots of samples & our guide David was amazing! We would recommend for anyone interested in coffee & chocolate.

This is more than just a coffee and chocolate tour. We learned so much about the economy, the impact on families, school systems, etc. We learned more than we expected - all in a good way. Our guide was David. He was amazing as he expressed his passion for the coffee and chocolate processes along with the love for this beautiful country.
Our tour guide was Alberto who explained depth about growing and roasting coffee and the cacoa bean. We learned many things not only about th beans ,but also about Costa Rican culture. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining and answered all our questions

This was a great tour. It’s not strenuous physically. The guide was very knowledgeable and personable. We sampled amazing coffee and saw some traditional ways to brew it and roast it. Amazing chocolate sampled as well and they have the caco growing there which is very interesting. We also tried cane juice and the “moonshine” you make from it. Overall we really enjoyed this tour it was informative and Cesar was a pleasure. Spike the dog was also a welcome addition to the tour to alíviate a bit of the guilt of leaving our puppy at home.
This tour included explanations and demonstrations of the processes of growing, harvesting, and processing both chocolate and coffee. It includes a walk through the plantations and tastings of the coffee and chocolate during different stages of the process.

This is a great tour for the hold family. Very fun and informative. You can eat and drink as much as you want. Learned a lot about the history of both industries and the culture.
I actually walked out of the tour after about 1/2 hour. I don’t need to spend my vacation listening to some super boring guy drone on about water temperature and calcium in the water.
I would give the tour a 0 if that was an option

Valerie was our guide and she was incredible. Very fun and informative. Property is beautiful and coffee and chocolate are delicious. We even saw wild turkeys and toucans during our tour.
