If you'd like, you can participate in farming activities like milking a cow and cane juice extraction.
Then, head to a small archaeological ranch where you can learn how indigenous peoples processed cocoa and use traditional tools.
After following the journey of this produce from planting to harvest, taste the finished products for yourself with a farm-fresh lunch centered around organic products grown right on the land. It is an amazing experience. The whole family are very knowledgeable and friendly. They make you feel at home and show you how to make chocolate , sugar cane juice , talk about coffee and the meal is amazing. Don Juan and his son and family are so proud of what they do that you feel so blessed to be in their farm. The animals are taken care very good. The experience milking a cow was the best along with feeding the animals. In general this is an experience that everybody should do. Thank you Don Juan and family.

I think everyone should experience the farm life of a Costa Rican. It was fun learning to milk a cow. Our guide, Jasmine was enthusiastic.

The family was amazing- So loving and welcoming and humble. Our driver, Gabriel was wonderful too. We went with our 4 kids, aged 4-16 and all of them loved the experience. We got to milk a cow, feed the animals, learn about native plants, prepare a traditional meal, and share our time with the best people. Absolutely recommend.

We really do not recommend Ecoterra. My husband and I visited La Fortuna last month and were really excited to try this tour out. We wanted to see a family-run farm and learn about the local life. However, after we booked this tour and were provided with a pickup time by Ecoterra from our hotel, the touring agency canceled our reservation without any notification. We were left standing outside our hotel at the pickup time for over 30 mins on the day of the tour until we called and were informed that our reservation had been canceled. We were not provided with any reason for cancellation and the customer service was extremely unsatisfactory.
Our tour was still active on the Viator website, however, they had canceled it on their internal system for some unknown reason. This was a huge waste of our time on our already limited vacation, and we were extremely disappointed with the service Ecoterra provided us with, they did not even seem to be apologetic for leaving us stranded at our pickup location. I would caution anyone against booking with Ecoterra and recommend you find alternative touring services in La Fortuna (we had many more positive experiences with other touring companies for better prices while in La Fortuna). Absolutely terrible experience and an awful touring service.

My sister and I appreciated both all that we learned about the practices at the Eco farm and the interaction with the lovely, dedicated farming family.

This farm tour was wonderful! The family is very kind and friendly. They truly enjoy spending time with you and teaching you about their life. We loved every second, especially being able to each lunch with them!
