Overview

Jasper’s Sunwapta River is a stretch of grade III rapids, where challenging twists and turns and spectacular scenery come as standard. On this tour, spin along the Icefields Parkway road and admire sweeping views over the famous Rocky Mountains. Tackle the swirling white-water currents with your guide, and watch the riverbanks for sightings of native wildlife living within the Jasper National Park.

Please arrive 60 minutes early for Sunwapta River trips (eg.11:00 for a 12:00 trip time). The RV Parking lot is located next to the Jasper Home Building Centre (706 Sleepy Hollow Road), and is directly across the railway tracks from the intersection of Connaught Drive and Hazel Avenue.

A cold and dreary day, but it didn’t matter! Still so much fun! All you need to do is wear a swimsuit, they give you everything else you need (wetsuit, helmet, socks, booties, and of course a tutorial and direction the whole time). We’ve rafted the Arkansas River in CO, and the Gallatin in MT, and the Sunwapta rivals the Arkansas as a favorite! Lots of juicy waves (at least when we went), so prepare to get wet! The weather was 59°F and sprinkling on and off. Our hands got a little cold, but as long as you’re paddling when told to by the guide, you stay comfortable. The highlight of our trip to Jasper! Thanks to the whole crew! We had a great time and highly recommend this trip to anyone considering it.

Viator ruined my vacation

Viator is a terrible company to deal with. They messed up the booking on my tour 2 days in a row and ruined the last couple of days of my vacation. I stayed another day in jasper because they said they would rebook my tour so I stayed but they charged me for a new tour the next day and never contacted the tour operators so I want able to go on the tour when I arrived at the meeting point. They offered me no solutions for all my trouble and it took 30 minutes on the phone to get them to refund my money for their mistake. Please book with another company and save yourself the trouble and make sure your vacations are not ruined

Just had an amazing white water rafting experience on the Sunwapta River in Jasper on a beautiful day in July! 🌊 Our trip was nothing short of exhilarating and completely exceeded our expectations. Our raft coach, Andy, was not only funny but incredibly informative about the stunning landscape surrounding us. Despite our minimal prior rafting experience, my girls and I had a memorable time on the water. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for some adventure in Jasper.

Our family had a blast. We’ve gone rafting on the New River and a river in Colorado, but this was hands down more fun. Continuous rapids. Our guide, Jacob was so much fun and intentionally soak my daughter to add to her experience. Highly recommend.

The entire crew are awesome. From van pickup, the drive to bus ( thanks Connor) and the raft ride was spectacular. It rained and the water was high enough to get a great ride (swamping). Beautiful scenery with a dust of snow on the mountain rim. Thanks again to Nate ( our guide)
