Amazing Guide, Even Better People

Extremely long 16hr day with 45mins in Bursa

We booked a Bursa full day trip but we got 45min jungle mud 4x4 at extra cost which we didn't do. 45mins ski trip at extra cost that we didn't do. 30 mins van wash experience and 45mins in Bursa. We got back to our hotel at midnight a 16 hour day! We had 2 Syrian brothers as guides they were very nice but not professional guides. The driver was a professional. The tour description is not accurate our day was cold wet and foggy no views and quite disappointing. The lunch was in a cold restaurant food was ok but small portions 7 french fries more cost 150 tkl one piece of chicken two mince patties bread and cabbage carrot salad with no dressing and a small Pepsi. Van was comfortable with USB points but no Wi-Fi

First we get on the bus and the guide sends a message on whatsapp that our regular guide is in the hospital and he will be our guide for the day. That would have been ok except he doesn't speak any English so the entire tour we know nothing about what's going on. Then he takes us to an activity that we have to pay additionally for which later on we realized was optional but again because of the language barrier we had no idea. While on the ATV's another ATV hits us because they were given one with faulty breaks. The guide expected others in the group to translate but they weren't accurate with the translation and they only told us what they choose to. Then we were told the cable car was closed due to weather which is understandable but they said we would do the chairlift instead. That was confusing because we were sitting on freezing cold chairs and windy conditions in the rain going up the mountain as opposed to a cable car where we would have at least been enclosed. We were given a few minutes to warm up before heading down the mountain. We get there and were not able to get on the bus right away. Once we did, we asked the driver to turn on the heat and he mocked us about being cold. Ultimately, it felt as if they were just going to try to fill the day with something because they did not want to issue a refund. In addition all of this is also after 2 days prior they sent us a message asking if we wanted to reschedule due to cable car maintenance which we agreed to in order to take the cable car which as I stated we never did.

Fraud tour, mainly shopping

If you like shopping trip, go for this fraud tour. I am surprised Viator willing to damage their reputation to support such a tour. We got pick up at 8:15 am and didn't got back until 12:30 am, total 16 1/2 hours. It was supposed to ne a Brusa City tour. Besides the cable car ride, ferry across, the rest was took us to do shopping. After we took the ferry across, the tour guy named Medyan, took us to a bushes area and asked us to rent this dirt cart to ride on this muddy roads full of pot holes and muddy water, pushing pictures to sale to us. After this surprised adventure, took us to shops, Turkish delights, honey, spices, jewelry, silk. At 7:30 pm took us to a clothing store, told us to use the bathroom and do shopping ( told people all have to get off the bus and go inside this shopping store). We spent 60 to 70% of our trip shopping, want us to keep spent money. Very disappointed that Viator didn't review this tour and sponsor this tour company. Not good reflection on Viator's reputation.

Extremely disorganized, not clear communication

Took nearly 2 hours to actually leave Istanbul due to major disorganization among the drivers/guide, and minimal English speaking despite what was advertised. I ended up prematurely leaving the tour because I was extremely uncomfortable and suspected that many of the glowing reviews for this tour were bots or otherwise fake.

Aimless driving around

We spent 90+ minutes across two shops that are obviously paying the tour operator to have us there. Bus’ AC died in the middle of the day. We even drove for 20-30 minutes with the bus' doors open for the air flow. We were in a ski town for an hour that looked like the Walking Dead version of one from Switzerland or Colorado, even considering it was July. We only really went to a single Mosque and mausoleum for ~30 minutes in Bursa city proper. The guide was great, the operator was not. I was picked up at 8:45 and dropped off at 23:43.

It’s more about visiting local venders than actually seeing Bursa. The Tour Guide was excellent and he was just following the schedule and stops given to him. You really only see Bursa in the ride. Don’t get to experience it well at all.

I joined this Bursa day tour from Istanbul, and I was very disappointed overall. First, the program was misleading. We were taken early in the morning to a completely unplanned Safari/ATV stop that wasted over an hour. This was not advertised at all in the Viator listing. It was obviously there to push us to buy extra activities. That time should have been used to visit the historical sites we actually paid to see. Second, we didn't even visit the Grand Mosque (Ulu Camii), which is one of the main UNESCO World Heritage sites of Bursa. This was the main reason I joined the tour! Instead, we only stopped briefly at the Green Mosque and Tomb, and even there we arrived during prayer time so we couldn't properly go inside. It felt rushed and incomplete. The guide didn't even bother to point out the Grand Mosque from the bus. The time management was very poor overall. We spent far too much time at unnecessary shopping stops, with no real value, just pushing people to buy things. Meanwhile, they rushed us at the actual historical sites that should have been the highlight of the day. Also, the guide insisted on returning early even though the listing said return would be between 8 and 10 pm. There was no reason we couldn't stay in Bursa longer to see the sites properly. Many people wanted to see sunset on the ferry ride, but the schedule forced us to be stuck on the road at that time instead. On top of all that, the included lunch was extremely low quality. It was basically rice, a few pieces of meat, and a tiny salad. For a ~$70 tour, this was unacceptable. Every other full-day tour I've joined in Turkey at this price point included much better meals, with multiple courses, choice of meat, and even dessert. This was really disappointing in comparison. Overall, the day felt rushed, poorly planned, wasted on shopping, and not worth the money at all. I specifically booked this to see Bursa's main UNESCO heritage sites, but I was not given that experience. I do not recommend this tour.

Not enough time in Bursa....

Not enough time in Bursa. We instead spent more time shopping and then the guide conveniently decided to skip the Bazaar and didn't allow us to spend enough time within the city. Save yourself the time and take the ferry directly from Istanbul and then the bus.

It was a long day. I remember reading a review by someone with the same comment but I signed up anyway because it was a good way to see more of Turkey other than just Istanbul. It was mostly a commercial for various stores along the way. Very little historical information. Still, It was a good opportunity to go to a few places near and in Bursa.

Don’t waste a day

I definitely would not do this tour we felt like we were in prison as we couldn’t walk away. The guide kept stopping at these shops along the way which really had nothing different from Istanbul. We would stop and get hounded immediately by aggressive salespeople. It was miserable. Then at the end we waited for the guide to shamelessly gather his commission. The guide talked very little to the group and did not tell us too many facts about the region or what we were seeing. We did not get do the ride up the mountain in the cable car as promised or we did not get to tour the green mosque. The guide did not give us much information on it either as he was too worried about gathering commissions rather than telling us about the mosque. We couldn’t go inside as he had timed it poorly to coincide with prayer. I also felt they should have known the lift was closed and offered an alternative activity. I have done many Viator tours and this is the only one that I had a negative experience with.

At the outset, just let me say that the guide was helpful and cooperative, but the bus driver was one of the most obnoxious persons that I have come across. We were picked up from our hotel at 8.15 AM. It was basically a 9-10 hour tour which was unnecessarily extended to become a 15 hour tour, just because of excessively unnecessary stops at shops selling turkish sweets, jams, silk clothing etc. I understand stopping for activities, so that the ones who are interested may get down and do the activity, and the ones not interested can stay behind and wait in a cafe. But stopping at so many shops every 20 mins is a hassle for the passengers and purely for marketing and commission purposes. The lunch was more like a snack with the quantity being extremely less. I got 3 small pieces of potato, and when I asked for more, they said it's chargeable. The guide was helpful, but the whole tour was so rushed up because of so many unnecessary stops, that half the time he kept saying hurry up to all the passengers. Also, there was hardly any information given about bursa as a city. All in all it was a poorly designed promotional tour for shops selling their products with some activities here and there. By the time we reached the hotel, it was 1145, and we were struggling to find some dinner. Now, the cherry on top. The bus driver, at the last moment, dropped us off at the company office and refused to take us to our hotel which was around 750 metres from the office. The guide kept fighting with him to drops us off to our hotel, but the driver was adamant. Now 750 metres doesn't sound much, but this distance that we had to walk back home, was not on road, but via the stairs (it's the old town of turkey, so no flat roads, only stairs), which were covered in snow, with a 2 year old in my lap, and the luggage and the stroller in my wife's hand, using Google maps at 12 o clock at night trying to find the hotel. Probably one of my worst experiences of using viator in the last 5 years.

A Fraud

This tour is a fraud right in the face! Viator should not sponsor this service. The itinerary was unclear, we started at 8:15 AM and we got back at our hotel at midnight. The seeing points were also a lie ( the first 7 hours there were stops to put gas to the shuttle 10 min after they pick us up,, a safari in motocycle that was not included or previously announced and if you did not want to pay for it you had to wait in an open space with a very cold wind for more than an hour. Prior to this the was a stop for the driver and guide to have breakfast and other in an unwanted shops of jams and candies ( besides the one which was included). The transportation to Bursa also a lie. The was a promise to have a ferry trough the Marmara Sea of 2 hours and instead we got to Bursa on a very uncomfortable and noisy shuttle until near 4 PM, almost 8 hours after the pick up time. The time at the mountains was less than an HOUR including a 25 min ride in the teleferic. We had to say no to an offer of a very expensive stay to ride snow cycles which of course was extra and not included in the tour price. There were more stops for a commissioned expensive stores of souvenirs which took all the time of the tour. Lunch was until 4:00 pm way too late. It was poor quality food. THE WORST of all was the tour guide. A person without any sense of guiding, entertaining and/or caring what so ever. He was rude, improper, commanding, and unclear in the instructions given and without a microphone and a very pronounced accent it was impossible to understand what he was saying. His attitude was terrible, it seemed he was forced to service the tour. To any one taking this tour in the future, do yourself a favor and avoid a guy named Muhammed as your guide. By the end of the day we got to the last point ( the green musk and a famous tomb) but because of the hour there were both closed.

I had a pleasure to actually get to see the Uludag mountains in the winter. The chair lift and cable car were lots of fun. I would recommend this one day tour to anyone with limited time to be in Istanbul.

Not worth it find another option to reach the mountain.

The mountain was nice everything else was not. The driver was 40 minutes late for pickup. Instead of the morning ferry we were rushed to an extra activity some ATV’s where we spend until mid day. Instead of visiting Bursa we went to a jam store. They don’t follow the itinerary, but a hidden agenda of extra payed activities and stores. Be ready to spend the majority of the day either at a shop or the bus. And after a long wasted day be patient for them to wash the bus in an additional stop at a gas station in Bursa because it is way cheaper than Istanbul.

The most memorable moment of this trip was cable car ride and visit in Bursa olde city. But unfortunately our tour guide did not give us very minimum of information. Most of the time he was just playing a music.

The reason I will never use Viator again!

The worst and last Viator I will ever do!! A 14 hour day for the guides to make commissions all day. Unsafe!! Driver was on the phone most of the day while driving. Asked the group to pay for bridge fee to go home faster.

Don’t miss the cable cars

The tour operator confirmed a day earlier when and where to meet. They picked up several people at various hotels before we finally made the trip to Bursa. Quiet in the bus, no narration and no WiFi. The sites were visited were beautiful and the Turkish Delights were the best. Don’t miss the cable cars.

Good experience overall.Although on website it says there will be 2 hour ferry ride but there was no ferry from Istanbul to Bursa

A full day is a waste of a day

This trip was a waste of a day, this tour can be cut to half day if they don't make so many stops on the way to Bursa, alot of the stop is to putchase what you have already probably got considering you are in Istanbul. The tour guy was very nice and pleasant, and the cable cars was a very nice experince, aside from that, not worth it.

Bursa Day trip

Enjoyable Trip

Our guide, Jamal I think his name was, was a good tour guide with a good sense of humour and the group we did the tour with were lovely. We left at about 9am and didn’t arrive in Bursa until 2pm. The first 4-hours consisted of stops at tourist traps such as a jeep safari (extra money), a Turkish delight shop and a honey shop, all of which were unnecessary additions to this trip. If they cut this out and allowed for more time by the 600 year old tree / green mosque, the trip would definitely be a good, rather than an ok. Highlights were probably the ferry ride, the cable car, the chair lift and the tree was also cool. The chair lift is an extra £10 (Approx) each. Can’t argue with the value for money of the trip, but the trip could definitely be condensed for a greater and more enjoyable experience.
