Han was an excellent teacher and I thoroughly enjoyed this class. We got plenty of time on the wheel and got to make a lot of different creations. My piece was ready to go in a few days and Han was communicative during the whole process. A must do in Hanoi especially if you’re into arts and crafts.

This was so much more fun than I expected! An exceptional value, our patient teacher let us live out our pottery-filled dreams as we spent the afternoon creating. Very fun way to experience a different side to Vietnamese culture.

A great art break in the middle of Hanoi!

What a wonderful experience! Everyone was so helpful and I got to learn an art! I was traveling by myself and felt totally comfortable and looked after. The teachers were patient and amazing! I highly recommend this for everyone, young and old!

Had a great time creating all sorts of pottery; it was my partner's and my first time trying pottery on an electric wheel. The girls were super helpful, hands-on, and attentive. Upon arrival, we were asked to go upstairs to the workshop area. We had lockers for all our belongings. We were asked to remove our shoes and were given slippers so we don't dirty ours. We had an endless supply of clay and could make as much or as little pottery as we wanted. After we finished our pieces, we were asked which colour we liked, and we were given options of light blue, dark blue, purple, light green, dark green, or a polkadot cream/black. We had one free item to be completed, and paid $5.00 per extra item we wanted to take home. The ladies then created a WhatsApp group for us to share photos of progress and confirmation of pick updates. Overall, it was a BRILLIANT experience, had the best time, and it's a must-try in Hanoi

Meditative experience with clay and creativity

If you need a few hours to step away from the hustle of Hanoi this class is for you. Conveniently located in the old quarter, you get 3 hours to make as many pieces as you’d like. The potters on staff are so kind and helpful. None of us had ever done this before and they helped us understand how to get the various shapes and yes get creative too. Our 11 year old took a little time to get the hang of it and with patient tutoring from the potter made the best piece amongst all of us. You get to take one piece home for free and $5 for each additional. Do it early in your trip as they need two days to fire and glaze. Lovely memory to have as a family and you also have gifts you can give back home that have your personal touch. Only advice where clothes you don’t mind getting messy, it all washes of with water for sure.

Fun experience! Loved it

We booked the 8:30am class and this was great as we had the instructor to ourselves. Our teacher (Hang) was very friendly, experienced and patient with us. She helped us make some amazing pieces (even for beginners). We went on Tuesday morning and they accommodated by having our pieces ready by Thursday night. However I would book this tour first thing to give them enough time to prepare your pieces to take home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our pottery session. We got to make as much pottery as we liked and then could chose 1 to fire, included, and pay a small fee for any additional. Allow a few days to collect so do this on your first day in Hanoi.

Amazing experience! Our teacher was so kind and nice. Showed us techniques and allowed us to create so many pieces of pottery. Great class well worth the money. Unfortunately our time in Hanoi was limited and it’s about 2 full days turn around time so we were not able to keep the pieces but given a credit to bring another item home. Thanks for a wonderful time.

We were in a group of for which left plenty of time for the instructor to attend to each of us. He was very patient and helpful and we all ended up with a few nice pieces, covered in clay to show we had indeed achieved some presentable pots. They glazed them for us and the result was impressive, we are well pleazed with what we got. This was ondeed a very pleasant afternoon spent learning a new skill and we would recommend you try it too.

We loved our pottery experience. We both have very little pottery experience and this class was super fun. Once shown a demonstration we were given free will of the wheel and just gave it a go, if we ever needed help or more explanation the guide was willing to help. We were very happy with our pieces at the end, we ended up paying for a couple of extra pots to take home from our class. We made sure to do this at the start of our trip in Hanoi to allow plenty of time for firing.

Located in the old quarter so easy to access. You are coached to make three pieces which are then put in the kiln and sent to the village to be glazed in a colour of your choice.. So you need to be in Hanoi for a couple more days for them to be ready for you to pick up. One piece is included in the price. Any extras are USD5 dollars each. Really sweet coach, lots of fun.

Best first experience for Pottery

It was my first experience in pottery. And it was wonderful. The instructor, She was very patient and skillful. She made sure that I was comfortable and was helpful every time I failed to complete the pottery successfully. She made sure the end products were baked twice and it turned out good. Will definitely recommend.

Fun to try, didn’t need 3hrs

It was fun. More difficult than expected. We were given lots of help. There were only 4 items they showed us how to make, which didn’t take very long (with help); vase, cup, bowl, plate. Endless number of tries, they just swap out the clay every time it’s too wet to keep using. 3hrs is a bit long, we had reached our limit after doing it for around 90 mins.

Have a good 3 hours learning pottery with my wife. However, it is important to note that you will need at least 3 more days for your pottery to be fired so that you can collect them from from the shop. Otherwise, you are only left w picking a ready made item worth 150k from the shop. It will not be worth to pay for the shipping cost for your own pottery. The experience could have being better if this condition was made explicit in the description of the workshop. Also, the colouring of the pottery is not inclusive in the workshop.

This was such a nice experience in Hanoi we had great fun with our group from all nationalities and we got to make lots of different pots. Seany our teacher was excellent and so funny and patient he told us about Bat Trang pottery village and he has been a Potter for 15 years he was so talented and made it look so easy. He helped us create some decent looking pieces and you have the option to choose a colour to glaze your pieces and come back in two days to collect after firing alternatively they can post your pots to you or choose a finished piece from their shop which also sells very nice reasonably priced pottery. Lovely experience well worth booking and very good value considering you get a nice piece of pottery at the end. Thank you to all the team for a great class! Highly recommend!

No instruction was provided on how to do pottery. The “instructors” spoke no English. We were just left to do whatever we wanted on the spinners. We arrived and there was another group (2 people) during our slot. Their limited pottery spinners with the other group occupying 2/4 of the spinners. We were a group of 4 and 2 of our members were left idle during the workshop. The room was hot and small with no AC, it was very hot. At the end we were told that our pottery items would be shipped to us and we never received it. So disappointed. The worst experience I’ve had with activities in Vietnam.

Pottery looks easy but it's definitely not. You will find this class fun and challenging. It will make you appreciate ceramics more and how hard the process is especially when you're new at making it. They will give you your own product :) The teacher was friendly and will really guide you.
