The boat was beautiful and the cabins were very nicely furnished. The activities were well planned and executed. All the staff were very nice and made it an unforgettable experience for us.
One negative was the stops made by the bus on way and back to Hanoi. They seemed to be tourist traps so would appreciate if you could take those out.

We had a great experience in Halong Bay. The bay is beautiful, and well worth the 3 hour drive from Hanoi. We were on the Sea Coral, and the crew was well organized and accommodating. The room size was huge allowing space for the kids to play, and food was great with options for both kids and adults. Planning was easy with coordination through messenger for transportation to/from the port. We highly recommend this experience.

The time we spent on the boat was one of our favorite days of our honeymoon and our life. (This review is worth the read; we had some major learning moments)
// The good:
The staff was incredible- warm, inviting, completely on top of things, professional, fun; we could write a novel’s worth of wonderful things about the team that hosted us. The food was excellent, the rooms were updated and clean, and they even decorated our room beautifully for our honeymoon with roses. From the time we arrived to the time we departed, this was truly one of the most magical experiences of our lives.
// The Bad:
Avoid the optional transportation if possible; it’s worth making arrangements on your own. Our scheduled hotel pickup that was confirmed multiple times forgot to pick us up, so we sent several messages via WhatsApp and Viator before we received a WhatsApp reply. When we heard back, a private car was sent to us about an hour and 15 minutes after we were supposed to be picked up. We started the trip with a bit higher blood pressure than planned.
We selected the 2 day/1 night option, mistakenly thinking the second day was also a day of activities- it was not. The schedule offered a light breakfast at 6:30, a boat excursion that lasted about 40 minutes (very cool!), a 9:30 brunch and then we disembarked and spent from 10:45-4pm being transferred back to Hanoi. The shuttle was very modern and comfortable, and it was largely our misunderstanding thinking the time would be allocated differently, but a bit of a let down to spend so much time in transit. Ultimately we strongly preferred the 2 hour private car on the way to the boat, over the shuttle bus that took more than twice the time and ate up a full vacation day.
All in all, absolutely take the tour! But avoiding the optional transportation and making sure you understand the nuance of the schedule will help manage expectations and minimize stress. Have a great time!

Everything about the cruise was just perfect! The cruise condition was very good. Great rooms - very spacious and luxurious. The walls, wooden flooring, bathrooms and the bed itself were comfy and beautiful. The rooms had big windows with beautiful views of the bay. We had booked 1 family room for 4 and 1 suite - both were amazing.
The cruise started with a great lunch - which was tasty. The staff provided special attention for our vegetarian family members. All the meals on board (Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast & Brunch) were delicious with good options. The cruise activities were decent - kayaking and boating through the bay was awesome. We could also enjoy swimming in the open ocean around our boat. Morning visit to the Cat Ba island was also good. However it would have been better if we had more activities on board. Evening happy hours were nice, but there was no karaoke.
The staff on the cruise was excellent 👍🏼 friendly and caring. The captain Jackie was a great host.
The highlight of the trip was the Ha long bay itself! The views are breathtaking
We were lucky to catch a full-moon rise on the deck. Overall superb experience- must do for everyone.

One of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. The Hanlong and Bai Tu Long bay was absolutely stunning. You should expect, scenic views and a well organised trip. The food on board was great and the rooms were cosy. The crew worked very hard to make sure guests were looked after. I would recommend this trip to travelers visiting Vietnam.
More safety precautions and better instructions could be given at the point where you kayak at the finishing village however, as it was not clear which route we were expected to take to kayak around the village.

Overall the cruise was a very good experience. We paid extra for the transfers from/to Hanoi & they were in luxurious small buses, they even drove us to our hotel that was nearby but outside of the old quarter area. It was quite busy at the main cruise stops for mid-season time but the activities were well organized & with plenty of time. The food in the cruise was delicious, well prepared & plentiful. Harry (our guide) & the cruise crew were absolutely amazing, they even went the extra mile & got us a cake & balloons to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. I would like to specially mention Harry as he was very attentive & ensured our needs were met all the time. The downsides from our experience are that we were put in a cruise that had a big group travelling together, so we felt the odd ones out; and, I would like to mention the ship is not a 5* as advertised, the ship does need renovations, our room was very spacious but it got flooded when it rained. Regardless of that, our experience was very positive & we had a lovely time!

Not for people younger than 45. Quality of attention drops if solo traveling. And not a 2 day tour, you go on the boat at 12:00 pm day One and are out of your cabin at 9:15 AM day 2. While the whole time you are being herded by the (yes very friendly) staff.

Booked a luxury 5 star overnight but it really felt like a generous 3 star. The post said pick up is included but after booking we got a message that says it’s an additional $20 per person surcharge. They asked for allergens a couple of times before and we stated gluten free. But at the boat the workers seemed confused on what it was. They really did try to accommodate though and customized items. But the confusion in the dietary when asking in advance was odd.

Our experience aboard the Victory Star was fantastic in terms of logistics and organization—everything was seamlessly arranged. Despite the ship’s age, it was comfortable and cosy, and the bathtub was a lovely touch that added to the experience.
The food was good, and the service was professional and attentive. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side this time, with fog and rain throughout. However, this added a touch of mystery to the already stunning scenery, making Ha Long Bay feel even more enchanting.
Due to the weather, we skipped the swimming session and missed out on the sunrise, but the overall experience was still wonderful. I would definitely recommend this cruise and hope to return under sunnier skies!

Great experience. The pick up (and drop off) from the Old Quarter was seamless. The boat we went on was lovely. All rooms had balconies and the common areas were bright and well maintained, There were a lot of activities available to do, if you wanted. Service was exceptional and everyone was willing to make this excursion as good as it could be. The port that you go from is a little disorganised but the staff from the boat are always available to help.

The average pickup time was arranged beforehand, and I received a message from the tour guide, Sunny, five minutes before the bus arrived. He was very punctual. I waited outside my Airbnb, and Sunny came to collect me, walking about 50 meters to the bus.
Upon arrival, I was given a bottle of water, and the journey began. Sunny entertained the bus full of people by sharing stories, history, fun facts, and keeping a great sense of humor throughout. The journey was smooth, with no issues or delays.
We boarded the cruise, where we were directed to our seats, and food was served. The meal was very tasty and definitely sufficient for each table.
At our first destination, we had the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views after climbing 500 stairs, and we had time to swim, which was refreshing after the climb in the hot weather.
The second destination was equally great, with a choice between a bamboo boat (for 12 people) or kayaking (in pairs). I chose kayaking, as it’s more fun and offers more freedom. At the third and final destination, we stayed with Sunny for a guided tour of the caves. He shared many interesting facts about the area and managed the large group very well.
Overall, the cruise was pleasant and definitely worth the money. There was a top deck for us to use, two toilets, and a bar. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore Ha Long Bay but is limited on time, as I was.
At the end of the trip, everyone from my group was heading back to Hanoi, while I had a bus booked for 6 pm to Ninh Binh. However, our trip was finishing just after 6 pm, which meant I was late for the last bus! Thankfully, Sunny went above and beyond to help. He called my Airbnb host in Ninh Binh to ask for the bus driver's number, then called the bus office to see if they could wait for me.
He even spoke to the captain to speed up the cruise, so we could make it. We arrived at the harbor at 6:08 pm, and Sunny and I were the first off the boat, running to collect my luggage and then to the bus. The bus could only wait until 6:15 pm, and we made it at 6:14! Without Sunny’s help, I would have missed the bus and had to find emergency accommodation in Ha Long Bay or Hanoi.
Sunny was a lifesaver, and I’m incredibly thankful for his help, as well as his efforts to keep everyone entertained throughout the trip. His English was excellent—well-spoken and easy to understand. If you ever meet him, I hope you'll feel the same bright energy that I did.

It’s a very early start the next morning to make sure you can fit everything in, this is the only part I wish could have started at 8am & on 6.30am. Breakfast at 6.45am was early when your on holiday.

A Ha Long Bay cruise is a must do activity when visiting Northern Thailand. This accommodation was perfect as they had a detailed itinerary with lots of activities to make the stay memorable. Traditional Vietnamese activities were included along with traditional meals. The cabins on the ship were also spacious and nice!

Loved doing the overnight stay, it’s definitely worth it! Beautiful to wake up in ha long bay and see the sunrise. The boat was awesome and meals were great. Staff very nice too!
We didn’t end up doing tai chi, which was a shame. But they did have squid fishing available and a cooking demonstration as the sun was setting.
Would recommend doing the kayaking over the small boat. We chose the boat but regretted it, kayaking looked more fun!
The walk up to the lookout on titop island is well worth it! The beach was so busy though, we didn’t bother swimming.
I would totally do this again! Amazing experience.

The tour was alright. I expected it to be crowded but not like that. Waaaaay too many people for my taste. You really couldn’t take a picture without people in it. I almost didn’t feel in the nature due to so many people around me. Place looks and feel very exploited.
Food on the cruise was good and plenty. The boat itself is nice with a splendid rooftop to absorb the views.
Tung the tour guide and bus driver were awesome. Tung very informative, funny, cheerful and good vibes. Thanks Tung.
There’s wifi on the bus so that’s a plus too.
The day went alright until I asked for the check of my drinks that I consumed on the boat, and I was flabbergasted for how they ripped me off. They charged me 400.000 dong (15usd) for a Korean Soju, when really it’s only around 130.000 dong. Unbelievable. Be careful when ordering drinks on the boat and always ask FIRST how much each item costs.

Positive things first - staff were amazing. Very courteous and helpful. Food was really good and there was in abundance. Most of the activities except the visit to the beach was excellent. The beach visit was a waste of time as the place was congested and the smell of fumes was every where. But otherwise all the other activities were entertaining and good fun. We met some lovely people on the boat which was a plus. Happy hour cocktails were fabulous.
The only downside was the actual boat. It was tired and lacked attention. Our cabin was spacious and clean but was definitely not luxury. At best it was 3 star. I have done this before but on a much better boat.
That being said it was fun and exciting

The boat was a nice smooth ride and I really enjoyed our excursions. Secret cave was outstanding. The lunch was delicious and plentiful The biggest downfall for me was that they didn't provide a seat on the bus for my 3.5 year old which would be fine for a 10 minute drive but not for 2.5 hours.

This was a well organized tour from pick up to drop off. The boat ride was perfect and not crowded at all. Lunch was delicious and a ton of food! (You get the choice of seafood, meat, or vegetarian and everyone gets rice, salads, spring rolls, fruit, etc). The 3 stops were all beautiful and didn’t feel rushed. On stop 1 we were able to do both the hike and take a quick dip (and we had a 3 year old on foot so we’re a little slow going). Stop 2 & 3 we’re both great as well. In the afternoon there’s French fries, fruit, cookies and tea served. I have 2 cautions - from Hanoi it’s about 2.5hrs but if you’re picked up first, you’ll spend about 4hrs on the bus from 8am-12. The other thing that was very disappointing is that kids under 5 do not get their own seat on the bus!!! So we were on the bus for 6.5hrs with a 3.5yr old and an infant on our lap. Overall the tour was really fantastic and well worth the money. Ha Long Bay is beautiful!
