Be careful how you book.We did not get the boat we thought we booked.Food was average and cold most of the time.Boat was not maintained properly. lf you have a complaint they are not helpful. I would recommend booking directly with the company so they don’t fob you off.

Good value cruise

Good value for 1 night cruise. My wife and I paid $340 and that included a round trip from our hotel in Hanoi. It included food but not drinks. It was a lot of fun and we felt it was a good value but not quite as luxurious as the photos. All the staff were very helpful. We asked for all plant-based meals and they were very accommodating. I would recommend this, but if you are looking for a more luxurious cruise, you might want to pay $750 to $800 to get a more 5 star boat like is shown in the photos.

No food, no water, no service.

We arrived at the boat. But had to wait an hour to board. They provided a buffet, but didnt have enough food for everyone... did this twice!!!! Did not have hot water, 3 times, had to ask to fix and shut off. Poor service in general.

Great experience overall, but there were a few discrepancies compared to the photos shown Pros: - Very responsive and proactive communication via Whatsapp ahead of the cruise to iron out practicalities - Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. The staff put in special effort to make pretty decorations on our dinner table and on our bed - Good food and attentive to dietary needs - Smooth transfer from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay - Comfortable and clean room - The pacing of the days was good Cons: - Photos shown in the listing are of several different cruise ships (of varying standards) so you don't know which one you're booking. For example the is a hot tub in the pictures which didn't exist on the actual cruise - Although the room is comfortable, it is not nearly as luxurious as the photos would suggest - The activities felt like an afterthought. They were all carried out by the tour guide and as a result were superficial. This is reasonable seeing as one person cannot be an expert in every activity. Ideally, there would have been dedicated people for the activities

Well organized tour, the bus transportation from Hanoi back and forth, the cruise boat , the staff specifically Dan the tour manager every thing was great and on time , be aware no internet/wi fi on the ship but if you have ESIM or physical sim so you are good ,

I'll start with the pros: Ha Long Bay is beautiful The food on the cruise was great The rooms were great The staff were friendly Cons: Wifi didn't work Announcements from speakers aren't clear in the rooms, I missed one activity because of this Advertised as all inclusive but alcoholic drinks weren't included, this could've been clearer. Ha Long Bay is definitely very commercialised now (which as a tourist is hard to complain too much about) The biggest reason I've given a low rating is that this was a very family friendly cruise, I really wish I'd known this beforehand. As a solo traveller in my early 30s I found the pace to be extremely slow and the atmosphere lacking. Not that I was necessarily looking for a party boat, but more like minded people and a more intense itinerary would've been more my thing.

The ship was very old and the furniture and carpet appeared worn. The staff on the ship did not inform us about our itinerary even though we asked repeately, The food on the first day was good. After that the food was not very good.

Everything was very nice, and the quality/price ratio was very good! The personnel were very friendly; the boat is in a good condition and clean; the food was delicious (the breakfast could have been a little bit more, but they served lunch pretty soon, so it was ok). The Ha Long Bay, the scenery, the caves the water, everything was superb! I recommend to anyone at least once in a lifetime to take this cruise!

Regardless of the Ha Long bay tour they offer, this company force you to stop at a scam service station both on the way and way back from Ha Long bay, hugely inflated prices which they are clearly getting some form of kick back from for bringing tourists to. It shows a clear lack of respect for their customers and I can’t recommend people book with this tour company until they change these practices.

This was an elegant boat with everything you need for a luxury cruise. I do wish we could have sailed in the boat more. But the experience provided was amazing. My bedroom was next level and the views were perfect.

The cruise was great! We didn’t haven’t very good weather but the views were still unbelievable. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. We had Dan and Hannah as our hosts and as a solo traveler they were especially great at including me and making sure I got some pics!

As you book your tour, note that there are different Amanda boats and tour options. This review is for the Amanda Luxury, 3D/2N cruise on Lan Ha Bay. Definitely 5 stars! While this wooden boat is older, it has been well maintained and has a quaint character. The staff is awesome, especially Jenny, Tom, and Andrew. Their customer service was really outstanding! While the scenery on Lan Ha Bay is considered less impressive by many, as compared to Hulong Bay, we enjoyed the fewer boats with less congestion on both water and land. The excursions, especially the second full day on the day boat, were very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this experience.

Pick up was as per planned. We arrived at a waiting terminal for an hour and a half before boarding boat. Had lunch which was nice and then we got our keys to our room. Room was okay but not five star. We went on our excursion for the day and was overwhelmed by how congested it was so many cruise ships and people. If you chose to stay on the boat there was no staff available and nothing to do for guests who didn’t want to partake in the activities. Was meant to be an English speaking tour but found the host very difficult to understand and he’s communication was lacking, as was his charisma. After our two day cruise, we got off the boat and didn’t really know any history/information about where we had travelled. Staff were very nice but just went through the motions. On the itinerary they had that there was karaoke on the top deck, my husband and I went up there and sat for an hour and the karaoke didn’t start until we had gone to bed. So much more room for improvement they need to have more on board activities, e.g. trivia, bingo or heads and tail game. This cruise has so much more potential.

One day before the tour booked for Amanda Criuse we were informed about an issue with water leak on the booked boat and re-booked to the Hera Grand Cruise to the same level cabin. To be honest, I didn't belive this reason (iit repeats in many reviews on Tripadvisor) with water leak and more, it was overbooking or something like that but it doesn't matter because the Gera Grand Cruise was really very good for us. Minh and his staff have made a great job to make our 2 Days Cruise comfortable and interesting. The boat is not made yesterday but still comfortable and nice to be there. Staff is really friendly and professional. The Halong Bay is a touristic place but in our stay in May was still nice. Food on board was delicious and variable. Amanda or Hera we recommend.

The ship was nice, rooms are as advertised. They took us on all the excursions written on the itinerary with a very safe and enthusiastic guide. However there are many downsides: -the host/guide talked way too long during lunch and dinner service. He really emphasized people singing karaoke but did not read the room as many guests just wanted to relax or talk amongst ourselves. -dinner was quite terrible as they try to imitate French cuisine but did a very poor job. The food portions were small. We did not come here for imitation French food but rather the authentic cuisine.

A nice cruise, but a mixed experience.

We have marked this down one star as the company emailed us with one day's notice to say they were changing our boat to the Hera Grand. The reason being that the one that had previously been confirmed to us was then allocated to a larger group that had come in. That may be good business for them, but isn't customer friendly for people who have booked so far in advance. Other than that, we still enjoyed the trip. The cabin was very nice and the food was excellent. All staff were efficient, friendly and approachable. One big drawback was the lack of internet, even though it is advertised as having it. The signal was either weak or non existant. That was very poor. Special mention has to be made for our guide, Alex, who was superb. Because of the typhoon, we had to change our arrangements and he went out of his way to spend time with us and put together a good plan. This included arranging a speedboat for us at 6am in the morning, which got us to the port in 15 minutes and allowed us to get an early flight to our next destination. Alex is a complete professional, and went out of his way to ensure that all customer needs were catered for. We give Alex 5 stars.

Everyone knows that Amanda Luxury Cruise is a higher-tier cruise with the luxury Lan Ha Bay route than Amanda Cruise. Please re-check your review.

The room we got has nothing to do with the picture in the advertisement which is a generic picture. The boat is nice but definitely not 5 stars. I will give Amanda cruise 3 stars maximum. The ad is deceiving.

Not worth the price and bad excursions

Overall disappointed with the experience. The reviews mentioned Dan as a highlight of the trip, yet we never met him. Cruise itself - nice room (asked for two beds and they accommodated) but hot water didn’t work in tub. Also quite noisy being near the kitchen. Frustratingly, they started playing music at 6AM which made it impossible to fall back asleep. Excursions - worst part of trip. Sights themselves are pretty cool, but they are so unbelievably crowded that it makes it impossible to enjoy. You are also not with a tour guide like many reviews say. Food - highlight. Good buffet for lunch, solid 5 course dinner (nothing too too special though). Drinks - alcoholic drinks pretty weak for price. You also have to pay for water which is completely absurd. Staff - most were quite nice and helpful. But overall felt disorganized. Often felt yelled at for no particular reason. Also to note - before and after you get on the boat you wait with 200 other people going on other boats with no AC. Absurdly disorganized. Overall - not worth the $137 price. That should go much further in Vietnam than what we got.

We were actually upgraded to the Hera Grand Luxury tour which was amazing. We had a fantastic balcony area and a beautiful deep bath with full length windows, revealing the beautiful islands & scenery of Ja Long Bay. The evening meal on top open deck was amazing and afterwards having fun with karaoke!

I would travel alone...

I would recommend a day trip to solo travelers. The tour with overnight stay is designed more for couples and families. Also, my room looked different than in the photo. It was still very comfortable. The ship is generally very old, but the staff is very friendly. The excursions within the bay were very short and limited. Overall it was more of a tour of about 24 hours, as the arrival and departure takes a lot of time.
