Wanted a unique experience in Genoa that was not a cruise excursion. We had a wonderful time making some of the most delicious pasta and pesto ever! Lunch on the terrace sipping wine overlooking looking the beautiful city was definitely a highlight of this trip. Thank you for a beautiful afternoon.

We had a lovely time with Alessandro and thoroughly enjoyed learning 2 different pasta recipes (both of which are super easy to make at home) and enjoyed trying some local wines. I absolutely loved learning how to make pesto too.
The garden is beautiful and has a lovely view over the port and to the sea. My friend is vegetarian and was able to eat all of the dishes which was great too.

My husband and I took this cooking class and had such a wonderful time. It was everyone’s first time taking a cooking class and making pasta. Alessandro was so kind and knowledgeable. He explained the steps thoroughly and patiently. The pasta turned out amazing and the view from the garden is beautiful. It was truly a perfect afternoon. I highly recommend this experience!

Had a great group of young people - from Canada, Australia, UK & USA. Lovely setting in chef’s home garden. Toddler & turtle antics too. Pesto & pasta making. Local wine was lovely.

What an incredible experience! My daughter and I took Alessandro’s class yesterday and I would definitely recommend this! The class is given to a small group in a beautiful garden with fruit trees overlooking the Genoa bay. We made pesto and 2 types of pasta and had lunch al fresco. The local wine served was delicious. We will remember this experience for a very long time.

My family and I were very excited for this experience, but for us it fell flat. There are pros and cons to this so, I'm going to lay them out as such.
Pros:
-The garden is lovely, quaint and has a wonderful view of the port.
-Alessandro opens his home to guests and is very proud of his cooking and culture.
-The wine was delicious.
-The garden turtles were fun to watch. Our kids loved them!
Cons:
-We felt as though our host was rushing around and flustered during our experience.
-The cooking class felt more like a 'watch me cook' class.
-The class was overbooked, so there seemed to be 'too many cooks in the kitchen'.
-It ran over the stated time, which isn't always a bad thing, but we didn't sit to eat our pasta dishes until well into the afternoon.

Wanted to add a few comments:
Yes that day I accepted 2 more people, not really for the money but because with cancellations and new bookings it can happens once in a while that we cannot control everything simultaneously, so I didn't want to cancel the last 2 more people, maybe it was a mistake. Because of course 10 instead of 8 it changes a bit the timing. However I'm pretty sure you had the first pasta before 2 pm, for sure a bit late, but not "well in the afternoon". Because it was late I sped up a little bit with the Lasagne. But watch me cook? No..if there's something I'm very concerned is that everybody is involved in the experience..your two kids who were taken into the class without paying an additional cent (probably another mistake) played with the turtles (turtles are not toys but it's not up to me to explain that to them), I was patient with them even if cooking is not a game because everybody eats what we made (you made) and if it's not properly made who's responsible, me or the girls?

My wife and I had 1 day in Genoa as part of our cruise. When we saw this as an option we booked with great expectations. We were not disappointed!! A tranquil garden in the city with a wonderful host who made us feel so welcome.

We strolled through Alessandro’s home to enter a beautiful garden covered with grapevine, lemon, apple and other fruit trees. Everything was perfect. It was our favorite excursion. We began by eating cheese filled bread and drinking white wine. We then made 3 different kinds of pasta, and basil pesto. It was a wonderful experience. After we left Alessandro emailed all the recipes to us. Highly recommend.

It was a really authentic experience above Genova. Alessandro's garden was perfectly hidden not only from the streets but thanks to the plants also from the sun. Emma (our guide) was a joyful person, who made sure that we not only prepare the dishes, but also get an inside look in the everyday life and kitchen of the Genovese people.

What a wonderful experience! Emanuela and Alessandro were fabulous and we learned a lot about the history of the pastas that we made. It was so nice to make the pasta and pesto in the lovely garden. The box turtles that live there were an added plus. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting Genoa.

If you're looking for an authentic and immersive culinary experience in Genoa, I highly recommend booking this class. The host was warm and welcoming, and shared his passion for Genoese food throughout. We learned how to make pasta and were showed the traditional method of making pesto using a mortar and pestle. The results were delicious. The view of Genoa from his garden were great. The lesson was hands-on with plenty of opportunity to relax and talk with other guests as well as learn new skills.

Stunning beyond belief and such a fun experience. We met outside a bar and the walk was quite high so be prepared. Everyone has equal opportunities of rolling pasta or making the pesto in a mortar and pestle. Pesto was incredibly delicious and the view of the garden was unbeatable. It was a serene and relaxing experience if you’re looking for a calming activity. We were provided with appetizers, glasses of wine, and water as well. Highly recommend!

We were looking for something fun and different. This was it. Our host, Alessandro met us on time and took us to the private garden at his home. There under the grape vines on a lovely day he very patiently taught us to make 3 different kinds of pasta and pesto from scratch. When we finished we sat down with some wine and ate what we had made. Maybe it’s because it was something we made and fresh but it was the very best pasta ever! Book this! You won’t regret it!
