The Serra D'Agua valley is home to the Levada Do Norte—an important “levada” (irrigation channel) that was created to carry water from the north to the south of the island.     The rote of the levada tour is scenic with lots to see, and gives you a flavour of levada walks even if you have only half a day available. It takes about 20 minutes for the van to drop you off at the starting point of the levada walk, the ride itself was very nice with panoramic views over Funchal. Our tour guide (a lady) was very kind and answered all my questions about the history and society of Madeira.

    This tour was more special than I expected. Guide Alvaro was very informative and helpful and was cracking jokes through the whole trip. He also told a little about Maderia's history and showed different plants along the way. Very nice way to spend my saturday morning. Thank you!
