I loved the way the whole crew was very helpful and knowledgeable. They all made sure everyone understood instructions and guided us through the trip. They had tents for us to see the bio luminescence in the water, and that was a great add! Tour guided which I don’t remember the names, were suoer helpful, when it got dark, one of them helped by wearing a light and it made the whole difference. I would definitely go back, because 2hrs were perfect but I want more! We could star gaze and saw the dawn, so it was the whole package, nature wise. I recommend it fully!

Wonderful Kayaking and Bioluminescence

KamalPresna_B, Mar 2026
The kayaking overall was amazing, me and my family enjoyed it a lot, the staff were super nice and entertaining everyone, even though we couldn’t see the bio luminescence on it’s own, the crew had a plan B which was to put a tarp and look at the glow on the water. Overall very good experience and I would visit again.

A fabulous night in Fajardo.

Eileen_B, Feb 2026
What an incredible night we had. The trip to Laguna Grande was dark, but by keeping the group size small, we felt very safe, and we were so well taken care of by the amazing staff, especially Joe. He made our excursion absolutely unforgettable, from showing us how to best enjoy the bioluminescence to pointing out constellations in the sky. The main things that I took away from this experience was to 1) make your peace with the fact that you're going to get wet from the waist down, and 2) don't be afraid to ask questions. While the guides are young, they're local, and carry with them a wealth of information. Take advantage of it. I can't wait to do it again.

Great experience

Jeanny_K, Feb 2026
It was a fun experience. The guides were really good, very patient with some friends who had no experience on a kayak.

The Bio Bay is a must for any trip to Puerto Rico!

Christopher_D, Jan 2025
Had a wonderful time on the Bio Bay tour. The whole thing was so well organized from beginning to end. There is no better feeling than when your kayak finally passes through the channel and you arrive in the massive bay. It is so peaceful and serene. I could spend hours just sitting on the bay, watching the stars come to life. This was one of the most memorable moments of our entire vacation.

No luminescence on the night we went!

Bharath_S, Dec 2024
While the night kayaking experience was awesome, there was no observable luminescence on the night we went. You need bright sunshine and no rain for a few days and on the day of your tour to watch the buoluminiscent light. The guides that kayak in front and back of your group are extremely good and care for your safety. You will be kayaking with 50 to 60 kayaks all going in a line through the mangroves in pitch dark. The guides have powerful flashlights and use them when needed. All guides have a light in their back and all kayaks have a light in the tail so you don't have to worry about your safety. Everyone will have to wear a life jacket and you don't have to be an expert to Kayak. A max of two adults and one minor are allowed in one Kayak.

A unique and exciting experience

Iqbal_D, Dec 2024
A unique experience kayaking in the dark, navigating a narrow channel to the lagoon. Seeing the bioluminescence was amazing. The captains were great, very helpful and knowledgeable about the environment and the Bioluminescent phenomenon.

Amazing tour!!

anapaola80, Nov 2024
Amazing!!!! We loved the experience. The tour guides were really good and helpful. AJ was extremely nice and assisted us through the whole experience. The experience itself was extremely outstanding. We got to see the “neon light” in the water and it was extremely breathtaking.

Wonderful small group tour

Ashley_L, Oct 2024
Wonderful tour! I was really fortunate that my group ended up only being three of us compared to other groups I saw there that had a lot of people. It felt much more personalized. Also, I had a rental car, so I met them there instead of getting picked up and was given a really nice discount for that. The guide was great and very informative, and I loved that this group didn't use the bright red lights on the kayaks like other groups - it helped to see the bay so much better. The mangrove was beautiful even in the dark, and the bioluminescence was glowing really well! Highly recommend doing this tour and using this group in particular!

Apathetic and Ineffective Guides

Kristine_L, Oct 2024
It was a bunch of amateur guides who didn’t really care about guiding people through an enjoyable experience. They were not skilled enough to lead that many inexperienced kayakers to the bay. They didn’t give many or clear instructions and through poor planning created situations in which kayakers were forced into trees, banks, and other kayakers. The guides lack of experience, planning and communication definitely made for a less enjoyable experience.

Response from Host, Oct 2024

Thank you for your feedback. Our team is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for every guest, starting with a thorough 101 kayaking and safety briefing to cover the basics of kayaking and essential navigation tips for the bay. When guests actively listen and follow the guides' instructions, it makes a big difference between having a smooth, fun experience and facing unnecessary struggles. Our guides are there to support you, but the best experience comes from both sides playing their part. We appreciate your input and are committed to continually enhancing our tours. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to see you again for a smoother adventure!

Adventure!

Erika_V, Oct 2024
Did this activity for my sister's 18th birthday! We went on the 6pm tour and it was perfect because we caught the sunset and saw the bioluminescent lights once it was dark. The tour guides were so fun and attentive. I recommend bringing water shoes (or shoes you don't mind getting wet) and mosquito repellent. You will get wet during the excursion, so also bring a change of clothes and a towel.

Jimenez Family Spring Break

JuanCarlos_J, Mar 2024
The tour operators were fantastic. We were concerned that due to a full moon, we weren’t going to see the bioluminescence, but thankfully they had an incredible plan to bring the experience to life!! I highly recommend the tour.

The staff was excellent....

Patricia_F, Mar 2024
The staff was excellent. But we saw about 5 minutes of microorganisms under a wet moldy smelling tarp. It was a 2-1/2 hour drive from ship and and a 4 mile paddle trip in the kayak. Total expenditure $650.00 for 6 adults. I don’t think it was a good value. Disappointed

Love this tour, love this company!

Emily_C, Mar 2024
This is seriously one of the coolest things to do in Puerto Rico. We LOVED the 5:30 tour because we got to paddle through the mangroves in the daylight then experience sunset on the bay before the bioluminescence lit up the place. The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and fun. The company is extremely efficient.

Rainy night

Cindy_T, Mar 2024
It rained while we were waiting in the bay for it to get dark. Our guide told us about the why the lake glows and was very funny.

Not worth the money

Kimberly_S, Mar 2024
Not organized well and did not see much given the 1 hour and 20 minutes drive from San Juan to location. Not worth the money. Would not recommend to anyone.

Response from Host, Mar 2024

We regret that your experience fell short of your expectations, in terms of the tour itself, we take great pride in the organization and safety of our excursions. From transportation logistics to the night kayaking tour, including safety briefings, and kayaking 101, we aim to provide a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for all participants. While we can't change the geographical location of the lagoon, we constantly strive to mitigate any inconvenience by offering the most economical transportation options available. Our comfortable buses are designed to ensure that despite the distance, our guests can travel in comfort and convenience, enhancing the overall experience of the journey. We understand that outdoor recreation, especially night kayaking through the mangrove forest water trail, may not be suitable for everyone. Our aim is to provide diverse experiences for our guests, catering to various interests and preferences.

Great experience

Alexandra_V, Mar 2024
The whole experience was surreal. Kayaking through the mangroves as the sunset, an amazing view of the stars, swirling the glowing plankton with our hands and paddles. The guides were all amazing. Would recommended to everyone.

Sooo coool!

Cassie_H, Mar 2024
Emily our guide was so much fun, and it was beyond cool to see the bioluminescence. Would do this again for sure!

Pretty Lame

Julie_S, Feb 2024
We paddled at turtle speed in a single file line out to the bay. Then they said we couldn’t see much because of the lights of Fajardo. We had to put a tarp over our heads to really see anything. Paddling back in the dark was fun. Overall not worth the money.

It was awsome all the...

Owen_M, Feb 2024
It was awsome all the guides where great and answers all the questions we had i would definitely recommend doing it.

Great adventure!

Angel_O, Feb 2024
Thanks for a great trip! Guides were wonderful and took good care of the group! We had time to explore the bay mid trip which was an added bonus.

Take this tour!

Janice_L, Feb 2024
The evening was beautiful, cool breeze, bioluminescent beasties in the water. Fantastic guides - all in all a great experience for two kayaking novices. Thank you.

Sunset and night kayaking thrill

elizabeth_s, Feb 2024
We had full confidence in our guides. They explained a lot about the natural qualities we were experiencing, and answered lots of questions. It was quite a thrill to kayak through the mangroves and then the bio luminosity. quite remarkable. I have never kayaked at night. That was a thrill also . The night sounds, the mystery of the mangroves. The soft gentle warm rain the last 1/4 mile just added to it all. Expect to get soaked. It’s an incredible experience.

Best tour ever

Cindy_K, Feb 2024
Great experience. Make sure you kayak in the dark. Fun and friendly guides. Worth the time and money

Amazing adventure

xrcy5tzyxb, Jan 2024
Our guide AJ was amazing!! He is knowledgeable & personable. We were a smaller group and it was a great environment to not only paddle but ask a lot of questions and receive quality answers. Would book again the next time we are down here.

Definitely recommend

Amanda_C, Jan 2024
Niche’s team/guides were great! They were patient and entertaining. Would definitely recommend. Peniel Access Eco Tours took great care of our valuables while we were kayaking. Be prepared to leave phones, wallets etc behind.

Highly recommend

Jose_D, Jan 2024
Great experience, very well organized and the 5 “captains” that guided and helped us were amazing and always checking in all participants. The Bay itself is really worth visiting.

Bioluminescence

Beth_F, Jan 2024
Great guides! Wonderful family experience! We took the earlier trip so we could see the bay and sunset which was beautiful!

Just a great, beautiful and unique experience

Betty_L, Jan 2024
A fun family experience. Was terrific to be out on the bay under the night stars enjoy this unique gift of nature. You can only see this in 5 places in the world. We had the extra gift of seeing and touching/holding the bioluminescent jelly fish in our hands. In my opinion, this is a must do activity.

Good tour for first time kayaker

Great experience with wonderful guides.

Marco_M, Nov 2023
Great experience! We happened to luck into a dark sunset that enabled a good view of the bioluminescent. Captains Sammy, Joe, and Niche were amazing.
