Umm talk about totally awesome! Even though it was a half day we did a lot. The hike wasn’t bad and we had little ones. The rainforest was beautiful. Our guide Nei was awesome! She was funny and so sweet. She was very professional and informative. She kepted everyone involved and took our pictures. This is an active activity so health issues or the elderly may have a hard time climbing the rocks. The hike is fine but it’s the climbing through the rocks I’d be concerned for them. There’s also a natural made water slide, cliff jump ( don’t have to do this if you don’t want), and a rope swing. Also optional. Or you can stay at the bottom and watching other people jump off. It’s a little muddy but that’s okay! Bring water shoes it’s best. Don’t recommend sandals/ crocs/ birkins. It’s wet, and slippery. I highly recommend this or even the full day. My family and I loved it!

Family tour with a 5 and 8 year old and they had a blast. The tour guides were so good with the kids and a big help on some steep rocks not to mention did a great job making everyone feel comfortable and be safe with great cultural facts. Recommend this as we had the best time and my kids favourite day in Puerto Rico. The 4 hr hike is just right for learning, fun and a great adventure. Watershoes recommended.

Such a fun experience! Our 9 yo was a bit hesitant but the guides were so patient and helpful! Highly recommended!
Rahul_V, Apr 2026
We couldn't do the waterfall slide, but overtake the tour was everything it said it was. They were communicative and on time. However do know its very commercialized, long wait lines for the activity & if you know swimming or have a life jacket, I'm not sure if you need to pay so much.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Hey there! We’re glad to hear everything ran smoothly and that the tour delivered as expected. We’re sorry you couldn’t do the waterfall slide, as that can sometimes depend on conditions. We understand your concerns about crowds and wait times—El Yunque is a very popular spot. While the area is shared, our goal is to provide a safe, guided experience with transportation, support, and local knowledge to help guests get the most out of it. Thank you again for joining our top-rated El Yunque rainforest tour!

Hands down one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. The guides (Orlando and Steve) lead with passion and knowledge, humor and support. I went with a group of 8 teens, a child and another mom. We all left agreeing that it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend!!!

Anthony was an amazing guide! Book this tour. I would have thought it cost way more than $25 pp after going. Great hike, slides, cliff jump, rope swing! Excellent! Just as described! Everyone had a blast!

This was a once in a lifetime experience. Everything was perfect start to finish. I went with my 7 year old son and he had a blast. The tour guides were extremely helpful and supportive. The meeting location was easy to find and they made sure we were prepared for our tour. The rope swing, water slide and cliff jump were amazing experiences. This hike requires physical fitness and being able to climb up rocks make sure you are physically capable before booking.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Hey Ana! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing experience in our top rated El Yunque Rainforest tour! We’re so happy to hear that both you and your son had such a memorable time—it truly means a lot. Our team works hard to make sure every guest feels prepared, safe, and supported from start to finish, so it’s great to know that came through during your adventure. The rope swing, natural waterslides, and cliff jumps are definitely some of the highlights, and we’re glad you got to enjoy them all!

Anthony and Steven were excellent guides, attentive to the whole group while keeping the energy fun throughout. That said, here’s my thoughts on the trip as a parent of two young participants (ages 6 and 8)
Footwear: You’ll spend significant time in the water and scrambling over wet rocks. Our family did fine in water shoes and Tevas with heel straps, but flip flops won’t cut it.
Chemicals: Sunscreen and bug spray are not needed. Under cover of the canopy the whole time and not a single mosquito.
Safety gear: Life jackets are mandatory for kids and optional for adults. I went in a little overconfident and skipped one, which I regretted by the time we hit the water slide and cliff jumping sections. If you have any hesitation about your swimming ability, just take the jacket.
Note, we observed that other tour operators in El Yunque provide helmets; this one does not. Our kids managed fine, but in future, I would only do this again with helmets for the family.
Know what you’re signing up for: The water slide is legitimately intense, thrilling for older kids and adults, but worth mentally preparing for with a young child. The final activity is a rope swing over water. We opted out of that one, and there was no pressure to participate.
Overall a memorable experience with very capable guides. Anthony and Steven were great with our kids.

Your notes on footwear, safety gear, and setting expectations for activities like the waterslide and rope swing are spot on and very valuable for future guests. Great experience and guides Jesus and Joel were fantastic. This trip is for the adventurous and athletic. Where good shoes that will get wet, lots of rock climbing. Don’t plan to bring a backpack either you and if you want to take your own phone for photos bring a waterproof case.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks lots for the great review! We're so happy that Jesus and Joel made your trip to our #1 rated El Yunque rainforest so great. We also appreciate your honest advice for future guests. Don’t miss this one! Not your everyday walk thru the park. The natural water slides, cliff jumps, and rope swings were a massive hit with the kids and adults alike. If possible, request Anthony as your tour guide. You won’t be disappointed! !
Cierra_H, Apr 2026

This is definitely an adventure, the activity level was more than I thought it would be it was very slippery and small rocks to climb up were challenging. Without the guides you wouldn’t be able to do this on your own. They are all Great and encouraged you to not be scared and do everything.
Response from Host, Apr 2026

You should be agile but it’s not a hard excursion. You will have fun but please listen to your tour guides
Mary_L, Mar 2026
Had a great time! Love El Yunque and this tour was great as we went to 2 waterslides. Bonus was being able to meet at El Yunque and take our our car up to the trail instead of being bussed there!
Timothy_F, Mar 2026
They canceled at the last minute claiming bad weather. My guess is the just don’t have the numbers they wanted. Major bummer.
Still waiting for my refund.
Brigitte_L, Mar 2026
Our tour guides were amazing and very informational. They kept us safe and in line as many other groups were on the same trail. We really enjoyed the activity, we wish we could have seen more of the rainforest but got what we paid for - rope swing, waterside, and cliff jumping! Awesome time.

It was a great experience and we had a wonderful tour guide. She was very patient and very attentive to my nephew, making sure he was ok and helping him when he needed it. All of the tour guides that were around seemed knowledgeable and they really made the experience. Even when we got separated from our group another guide took us in until we caught up with our group and even took a video when we jumped off the cliff.

If you want to enjoy a unique cultural experience go to the rainforest with this group! Wear shoes you don’t mind getting muddy- but make sure they have good traction. John and Nei were helpful, funny, and knowledgeable. Go early, it gets crowded quickly. They took great pictures. No need to take anything with you like a backpack or phone. It will get wet.
The parking can get a little congested.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
