El Yunque Rainforest is Puerto Rico’s largest nature reserve and as difficult to explore independently as any other tropical rainforest. Drive yourself to meet your guide in Fajardo and then follow your guide's vehicle into the rainforest. Discover it with a guide on this fun forest hike to two different waterfalls, one with a rope swing and free diving, the second with a natural rock waterslide and a cliff jump. Learn about the rainforest’s history, wildlife and trees as you hike.

Meet us at Yagrumo Restobar in Fajardo. Important: You must drive your rented/owned vehicle from the meeting point to the Rainforest. Uber and taxis are not allowed. Transportation is not provided at any point. Use GOOGLE MAPS in order to reach the correct location.

Drive yourself to meet your guide and fellow travelers at a central meeting point in Fajardo and caravan out together to the eastern side of El Yunque Rainforest. Once you arrive, you'll hike for roughly 20 to 30 minutes to a swimming hole, learning about the rainforest’s history along the way.
You are required to supply your own transportation for this tour.
Once you reach the swimming hole, spend some time swimming, jumping into the water, or trying out a rope swing. Later, continue to another swimming hole, located an additional 15-minute hike into the rainforest. Here you can zip down a natural rock slide or jump off a cliff and into a refreshing river before returning to San Juan.
You are required to supply your own transportation for this tour.

- It’s a requirement to have an owned/rented vehicle in order to participate as this tour doesn’t provide transportation at any point. Uber/taxis aren’t allowed as the meeting point is not the final destination.
- Safety is our priority, in order for you to enjoy the experience to its fullest we may have to slightly forward or delay your start time after reservations are made, to avoid heavy flow of people and betterment of the experience. The notification will be sent by email the evening prior the tour.
- Good physical condition required • Participants must be able to hike more than 35 minutes
- Participants with; Walking limitations, Overweight Issues, Permanent Injuries, Recent surgeries or not physically fit are NOT recommended as a good physical condition is required to complete this experience.
- ** If you're traveling with a group but reserved your space separately, you have to notify us that you're together. The chances of being assigned to different tour guides are high, and changes can't be made on the day of the tour ** IMPORTANT: Don’t use the “Special Requirements “ field, contact the provider or notify Viator Customer Support directly.
- OFFICE HOURS: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Fridays 9:00 am - 7:00 pm. Thursday, Saturday, Sunday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
- We recommend shoes that you won't mind getting wet and muddy, that have a good grip and a thick sole. Sneakers, water shoes or hiking sandals that cover your toes are the best option. Be mindful that sandals, flip flops, crocs or slides are not allowed as it can be dangerous once wet or muddy.
- Not recommended for travelers with heart problems or other serious medical conditions • Minimum age is 5 years • Max age to participate is 59 years
- Pregnant guests CAN'T participate. To keep the baby/babies and mothers safe we don't allow expecting mommas on this tour as the terrain is uneven and slippery (muddy), therefore making it dangerous for you and your little one(s).
- Running late / Cancelling under 24 hrs prior the tour: Contact your assigned tour guide directly to inform them your ETA, they can give a 5 min grace period if they’re informed. If you arrive late you will be considered a NO SHOW meaning no refund or reschedule will be provided. Cancellations under 24 hrs prior the tour won’t be honored and NO refund will be provided.

We had an amazing experience with our tour guide, Viktor, in the rainforest of Puerto Rico! From start to finish, everything was well organized, safe, and so much fun. Viktor took us to several incredible water spots—natural pools, waterfalls, and hidden areas we never would have found on our own. What really stood out was how knowledgeable, patient, and friendly he was. He shared interesting facts about the rainforest, made sure everyone felt comfortable, and kept the energy positive the entire time. You can tell he truly cares about giving people a great experience. The water activities were the highlight—beautiful, refreshing, and the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. From sliding down rocks to swimming in crystal-clear pools, every moment felt special. What meant the most to me personally was Viktor going out of his way to return a camera I accidentally left in the pocket of a life vest. That level of honesty and kindness really says a lot about his character and made the experience even more memorable. I highly recommend booking with Viktor if you’re visiting Puerto Rico. This was easily one of the best parts of our trip, and we would absolutely do it again!

Anthony was great. It was definitely a hard climb with a kid and I was nervous but he made sure we were both safe.
This was my second time touring with Orlando. He was very knowledgeable and even took us through the "adventure" route (since we had a very small group)! He has amazing positive energy and made sure everyone felt included. The hike was amazing but definitely challenging, he was there to help us every step of the way. I even got to eat two native flowers. I loved learning about the coqui, animals and plants!

This is my second time doing this tour. Love it the first time and loved it more the second time. Easily put to be the number one thing to do for me. Was helped by the guild to go to point B and was super attentive. Do it !!!!!

We took multiple excursions through Viator during our visit to PR. This was the best !! Kids (14 year old and 11 yr old) just loved it. It was the best part of their trip. Our guide Ashley went out of her way to make it a great experience. She even recorded all the pictures and videos of our experiences as we couldnt take our phones inside the water.

This was the best experience hiking in the rainforest. Going down waterfalls and jumping off cliffs! My family and i LOVED it! Our tour guy Anthony was AWESOME and i would not want anyone else. He went slow with us, stopped and showed/explained to us the nature of the rainforest, helped us get through the rocks safely. He was really the Tarzan of the rainforest, it was perfect. 10 out of 10!!!!!!!

Be ready to have an amazing time! The hike is long. I would recommend sneakers you don’t mind getting wet over water shoes. If you get Xiani as your guide don’t worry about taking your phone for pictures she takes really great ones and she takes videos as well. Because of this leave everything behind. My kids were worried about getting photos so I brought my phone. I didn’t need to. The highlights of the trip were definitely the rock slides, jumping rock and the rope swing. It is a lot of fun but be ready to climb. We are in good shape 49, my husband is 60 and my kids are 13 and 15. We were able to do the climbing. I do not recommend doing this activity and another that is also a strenuous activity if you are older or have younger kids. The water was amazing, crystal clear and that perfect cold that you only get with fresh water. Definitely make this a priority in your Puerto Rican adventure and don’t forget to tip your guides.

I booked this excursion without realizing that I was required to have my own vehicle or rental car to participate. I take full responsibility for overlooking that detail. However, requiring your own transportation is a major detail that can significantly affect someone’s ability to participate in an excursion, especially when traveling on vacation.
Once I realized the transportation requirement, I immediately attempted to cancel my reservation. Unfortunately, I called the customer service number provided multiple times and received no answer.
I later received a group text from the tour guide, who informed me that due to the 24-hour cancellation policy, I would not be eligible for a refund. He then directed me to the exact same customer service number I had already been trying to reach for hours.
What makes this experience even more frustrating is that I wasn’t necessarily demanding a refund. I was simply trying to find out whether my payment could be applied toward another excursion that included transportation or whether some type of accommodation could be made.
Instead of receiving assistance, I’ve been met with unanswered phone calls, a lack of communication, and what feels like a complete runaround.
I understand that businesses have cancellation policies, and I respect that. However, customer service should not end once a payment has been collected. There should be someone available to assist customers when unexpected situations arise, especially when they are willing to explore alternative options rather than simply requesting their money back.
Overall, this experience has left me feeling extremely disappointed and honestly somewhat taken advantage of. I paid for an experience I couldn’t participate in, and despite making several attempts to resolve the issue, I have received no meaningful assistance.

Our tour guide Anthony was the best. Made us feel safe and shared cool facts about El Yunque. My teenage sons gave it a 10 out of 10 and loved it. It was an intense hike for those not used to hiking. A highlight of our Trip. Beautiful and fun. Refreshing cold river swim and cliff jump natural water slide and rope jump. Anthony took short breaks in hike up which allowed us to catch our breath. lol

Chuky was the most amazing tour guide we could have asked for. He made our anniversary so memorable! He took the BS we would throw his way and he would throw right back. It was such an amazing experience that we cannot recommend enough. The hike was decent, rainforest was gorgeous, and the cliff jumping, rope swing, And natural water slide was truly amazing. The history of the rainforest was well know by Chuky and he made the experience an absolute blast. Can you say “PUERTO RICOOOOO!!!”

This was the best experience I’ve had in my life. It was well organized, such a fun time, everybody in our groups were great and very outgoing.
