What an amazing experience! The guides were so knowledgeable and sweet. They were very entertaining and helped us navigate in darkness to our destination to see the bioluminescent creatures. They give you a snack and water after you finish and they also provide you with a group photo that they upload on their Facebook. Emily and AJ were so kind and helpful!

We were never picked up at the location we were told to meet. We were told to be at th be at the Fairfield Hotel in Liquillo between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm and we waited until 7:45 pm and no one showed to pick us up. I would like to request a full refund

Thank you for your feedback. According to our records, your reservation was canceled at your request prior to the tour due to the weather conditions. Since the reservation had already been canceled, no pickup was scheduled for your booking. We wish you all the best and appreciate the opportunity to clarify what occurred.

We saw NOTHING!!! And we didn't get our $$ back. The guides were awesome. It's just a ton of work and $$ to see nothing!!
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Before your tour, we informed all guests that the bioluminescence was significantly affected by the unusual sargassum conditions and offered the option to cancel for a full refund. Guests who chose to proceed with the tour accepted that visibility could be minimal or even nonexistent.
Because you decided to participate in the experience, your reservation was no longer eligible for a refund. We appreciate your kind words about our guides, who worked hard to provide a safe and enjoyable night kayaking adventure despite the natural conditions, which are completely beyond anyone's control.

This is a once in a lifetime experience. I was a little scared to start out but then Jaime saved me by tugging me both way. We didn't see the bioluminescent due to the fact that we can't control nature, but I wouldn't do it again. kayaking is exhausting. I did enjoy being out on the water in the dark and kayaking back in the dark. My arms really hurt. I was unable to leave a tip like I would like to, as they only used Venmo but Captain Jaime if you read this.. May the Lord of heavens bless you, keep you and guide you, May you remain covered under Yahweh precious blood. May the Lords blessing that adds no sorrow locate you now. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. Thank you so much again Jaime.

Joshua was great! Such a fun experience overall. The bioluminescence was low so we did not see much however would do again!

The bioluminescence is a cool experience, but really overhyped. This tour was full of inexperienced kayakers running into each other in a mangrove in the dark. Way too many people at one time doing two way traffic. It was a neat experience, but I would not do it again. On the kayaks my family and I did, there were glow sticks on the front and back to see the kayaker in front of you, but we weren't the first tour of the night so some were already missing and people still couldn't see each other. It was chaotic to say the least. You will see pictures of the bay, it is not a real picture. There is far less, though still cool. I did enjoy learning, and the tour was ok once you were on the bay. You will see maybe 20 specks when swiping your hand through the water. More if you shake really hard or it was a really sunny day that day. I would still recommend to do this at least once, but have you expectations in check so you aren't disappointed and you know what to expect to get there.

Very fun experience. Hard work but definitely worth it. Guides were very helpful and very informative.

It was a first time kayaking and it was really fun, and an incredible experience seeing the water glow. Our guide Joe was more than helpful helping us in every way possible and making our way very pleasant and fun. He was awesome. We didn’t forgot his name lol.

Over all great.
The captains (workers) were friendly, kind, patient and funny!
Easy to follow instructions. Good supervision.
One thing that travelers should be aware of is the smell when you get there and the sea weed hitting you when you are paddling.

It is a fun kayaking experience in the dark. The water is warm and it is very safe. Our transport driver was funny and very friendly

The bioluminescence experience was interesting but a bit underwhelming, probably the conditions were not the best, still beautiful though. I really loved the magic of the kayak ride among mangroves in the dark
Denise_W, Mar 2026
Fantastic fun with great guides that are knowledgeable about the area and science of what is being seen.
Robin_H, Feb 2026
The bioluminescence was so cool. There was a half moon which was pretty bright so we used tarps when we got to Laguna Grande because it allowed us to see the glow better. As we were kayaking through the channel, the coverage from the mangroves made it darker and we could see the glow in the water as we paddled. Our tour guides Neeche AJ and Joe were great. Definitely an experience everyone should see while in Puerto Rico!
Cindy_R, Feb 2026
The weather was questionable but it ended up great! The water was warm so not an issue to get wet. Joe was an amazing help since we struggled to keep up. He attached to our kayak and helped us finish the trip!

AJ was amazing tug boating us due to our pour driving skills! Cool experience, a little overpriced for what it was though.

Guides were super nice and helpful. Bioluminescent organisms did not disappoint. Kayak was manageable and easy to navigate.

This was such a cool experience, made me feel like I was in a Disney movie lol! Our guides were great and very informative!
Carlos_M, Oct 2025
You can’t see the luminescence when there’s a moon out.
We did not see what we were promised.
This was a waste of money.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to clarify our approach so future guests have accurate information.
We are always transparent about the nature of bioluminescence. This is a natural phenomenon, and we never promise a specific intensity or guarantee what guests will see on any given night. Factors such as moonlight, weather conditions, and water clarity can affect visibility, and we make this clear in our tour information.
While many nights offer excellent visibility, there are evenings when nature is more subtle — and we prefer to show it honestly rather than create false expectations.
We are sorry the experience did not match what you hoped for, but we remain committed to providing safe, respectful, and authentic encounters with nature.

Loved seeing the dynoflagellates glow at night ! My kids thought they were seeing true fairy dust. This was certainly the highlight of our week-long trip. I loved how we put a tarp over our heads in the middle of the bay to block out the moonlight and REALLY get a good view. I was paddling with my 2 kids, and the guide, Joe, was so helpful when he saw us struggling and hooked a rope to our kayak and helped pull us along. Caring staff. Amazing natural phenomenon. Totally worth every penny!

This was absolutely incredible! We had a perfect night, weather wise. Our guides were phenomenal. Emily is very knowledgeable and hilarious! My 11 y/o daughter got a little scared after running into a tree so Joe towed her the whole way. These guides also knew how to direct everyone safely. I’m not a kayaker at all, and I felt confident by the end of this because of how well this was organized. I can’t imagine having to guide a group like this, but these people made it look effortless on their parts! They checked on everyone throughout the entire trip and it felt like they all were genuinely happy to help.
You will absolutely get wet so be prepared. Don’t bother bringing your phone because you won’t be able to take pics of the bioluminescence. (The bioluminescence just doesn’t photograph.)
The bioluminescence is beautiful and I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m not exaggerating when I say this truly was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had!
Yesenia_S, Dec 2023
Had an amazing experience. Joe was so helpful on making sure me and my cousin was safe after we ran into some trees . Made sure we still enjoyed our experience. Great enjoy great view !
Shelton_F, Mar 2023
This was very underwhelming. You could barely anything in the river. If you're looking to bioluminescence, I would take a hard pass on this. But the the kayaking was nice. This was so pretty far from where we stayed, so I definitely wouldn't do it again
Response from Host, Jul 2023
We are, however, glad to hear that you enjoyed the kayaking aspect of the excursion. Kayaking can indeed be a peaceful and enjoyable activity, providing an opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural surroundings.
While we do our best to showcase the natural wonder of bioluminescence, we understand that it can vary from time to time due to several factors, including weather conditions and the natural cycles of the organisms.
Michele_M, Mar 2022
All of the crew members were fabulous. Ashley was especially wonderful. We had to put a tarp over our kayak to see the little amount of luminescence. I just expected a little more, but the crew did a great job.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent bioluminescence excursion with us. We are thrilled to hear that you had a positive experience with our crew members, especially with Ashley. Providing excellent service and creating wonderful memories for our guests is what we strive for, and we're delighted that our team could make your time with us enjoyable.
At the same time, we understand your expectations for a more prominent bioluminescence display, and we apologize that the luminescence was not as abundant as you had hoped. Bioluminescence can be influenced by various natural factors, and it can vary from time to time, which may have affected the visibility during your tour.
We appreciate your understanding and patience regarding the situation. It's heartening to hear that despite the limited luminescence, our crew's efforts made the experience enjoyable for you. They work hard to ensure that our guests have a memorable and pleasant time during the excursion.

What a unique experience! It had rained all day so I was so surprised when the trip went on without a hitch! We got wet, but paddling through the mangroves at night and seeing the bioluminescence was unforgettable and I didn’t notice anything but the awe of the entire experience. DO IT!!
Joas_C, Aug 2021
My girlfriend and I had so much fun. The guides are fun and make sure we have fun as well. Great experience!!
John_W, Jul 2021
Fun time and a unique experience paddling through the trees in the darkness of the canopy. Didn’t really get to fully appreciate the bioluminescent bay due to clear sky’s, but our guides did their best with a tarp.
MARITZA_C, Apr 2021
The guides were helpful and very interactive. Had lot's of fun. Kenneth and Thalia were awesome!
Thalia asked Kenneth to sing Brujeria which he forgot and I helped remind him.by swinging the chorus! Amazing time!
Jennifer_B, Jan 2021
Very nice people made sure we got there and were well taken care of, even pointed out an iguana hanging out in the trees above
Kayla_S, Mar 2020
We went on a night with a little over a half moon -- definitely wasn't as amazing as others who recommended the tour to us said. Maybe it would be worth it on a completely dark night. They had a tarp to help block out the light, but it still wasn't that impressive. We were already in the area from a hiking trip, but I wouldn't go out of my way if I had only been in San Juan to go. The guides were great though!

Guides were personable and great, they did their best to help everyone regardless of skill level. The bioluminescent bay itself is really underwhelming.
