I would have rated 3.5 if it was an option. I wish the information about where to get the bus (Blue) was clearer. As a visitor saying ‘Waverly’ wasn’t enough. Say across from ‘X’ and list a proper address please. I found the drivers very nice & helpful. It served my purpose but was a little disappointing vs other HopOn/Off tours I’ve done.

Good value for travel around Edinburgh. Admission to Edinburgh castle, The Palace of Holyrood and the Royal Yacht included. Informative, helpful drivers. Great advice from gentleman who we picked pass up from.

Great routes. Punctual. Kind employees.
Good stops to enjoy the city and touristic points. Good audio guides.

The best way to see the sites! The crew were so friendly and knowledgeable! We had such a great experience!

We were able to see many different places without the stress of driving or paying taxis. All drivers we had were great.

Drivers of the HOHO Buses are nice. People at the station are nice and helpful. Only suggestion is to give exact address of the Information Centre to redeem tickets as the information I had was just Waterloo Place but don’t know the address so hard to find from map.

We loved our experience. So glad we got the Royal Tour with the Castle entrance included. It was a great day!

This s bus trip is not worth the money. It makes promises f all you can see and at hest you see two attractions. It takes forever to pick you up. So much time wasted.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment but hope I can clarify a few points for those thinking of buying the Royal Edinburgh Ticket.
Firstly this is a ticket covering all three tours so not a tour in itself. It includes guaranteed entry to Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and Britannia. The idea of the ticket is that you use all three tours to get around the city and to reach the included attractions. Currently City Sightseeing runs every 10 minutes with The Regal Tour and Edinburgh Tour every 15 minutes so never too long to wait. You can pick up a map and timetables when you first hop on or download from our website in advance. From September to June the Palace of Holyroodhouse is closed Tues and Wed, this information is available on Trip Advisor before you buy your ticket - it sounds like you missed that. The Palace will accept their portion of the ticket on the Thursday instead. I can't see that you have contacted Edinburgh Bus Tours or TripAdvisor for any assistance during your visit. We would always be happy to help.
Many thanks
Elaine

Good value for money. Three different routes available. Buses were frequent. Good commentary. Included entrance to Edinburgh Castle (Timed Ticket) Palace of Holyroodhouse & Royal Yacht Britannia (Open Ticket) in price.

Very simple, easy to use bus experience with tremendous service from the ticketing agent and drivers. It's important to get the app for your phone and study it to know where you are going. The people who were upset (it's an hour circuit around each line) didn't do their homework and expected the bus to operate like a cab. All of the stops are well mapped and the drivers would tell you the best stops for attractions. Buses came very frequently and it really helped us see everything we wanted to see.

Great value- and a wonderful way to see the city. Lots of stops with an informed guide explaining the history.

First off excellent employees! My partners wallet fell out of his back pocket on one of the buses, as soon as we notified the supervisor he radioed the bus as we remembered the tour guides name. They searched at their next stop and the wallet was found and returned with everything still there. Sadly in our stressed state we failed to get names but multiple employees went above and beyond to help us! We did the 48 hour and attractions and it was perfect. We had 2 days in Edinburgh and the buses helped us get to all the main attractions and a great overview of the city. Just book it!

Really nice way to see the city and get off when you want! Nice audio provided about the surroundings you will see as well!!

Very convenient way to learn about Edinburg and get around the city! Knowledgeable and helpful staff on sidewalks and tour guides! Our go to when we visit a new city!

Hop on/off bus was great! We got to see so much more of Edinburgh by riding the bus and the narrated information was incredible- we learned so much.We bought the tickets that included Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace & the Royal Yacht Britannia tour. When we arrived at the Castle, we walked past the throngs of tourists waiting in line and entered the premises with our prepaid time-stamped tickets. It was fabulous! We didn’t didn’t leave ourselves enough time for Holyrood Palace but we had been there last year, so opted to take the bus to Dean Village instead & walk along the waters of Leith, followed by a tour of the Botanic Gardens. Our last stop was the Royal Yacht Britannia and it did not disappoint. It was amazing!

The buses came frequently. The drivers were very friendly and helpful letting you know what stop you wanted based on where you wanted to go or what you were interested in.

Great way to see the city and get an overview of what you would and would not like to see. Guide worked great for us and it was most appreciated.
Judy_T, Aug 2025
The buses were easy to locate, the staff friendly and this was a great way to get around. We probably didn't use them as much as we could have and walking around was also a good way to see everything. It was great to have entry into the three places we choose.
Anne_O, Aug 2025
The tickets included with the pass were worth the whole thing. Let the driver of the blue busses know where you want off so they stop at the stops. We went during the French festival but still plenty room on the bus.
Ellen_O, Aug 2025
If you want to see the main attractions and views of the city without having to walk everywhere, this is a solid option. Stops at most of the major landmarks, and the audio guide gives some cool stories while you’re riding. Buses pass stops every 15 minutes or so, so you don’t have to wait long if you miss one. The city doesn’t seem massive, but walking everywhere, especially with all of the hills, is a workout.

These tickets worked well. We didn’t get to the yacht, but the castle and palace were both very interesting, and the convenience of being able to hop on/off all over the city was great - although we were staying in the Haymarket area and the closest stop was about a 12-minute walk away. The only recommendation I’d like to make is that the instructions for redeeming your tickets make clear that there is no booth on Waterloo Place, and that you can simply go to any of the people walking around with ticket flags on their backs.

This was perfect for our family!! Although the city is small, it helped us get to know the city and where every point of interest was that we wanted to see and do!!! We actually added a third day to our tour because it made getting around so easy and we didn't get tired walking long distances. This was especially helpful for my 78 yrs old mother that struggles to walk more than 10min or great distances! She LOVED IT!

The hop on hop off bus is a great way to see all of the city sights. We got tje Royal package and enjoyed touring Holyrood, Edinburgh Castle and the queens yacht Brittainia. Well worth the price! Even took our suitcases to the next hotel on it, they have luggage carriers.
Tanya_Q, Aug 2025
Give yourself a whole day. Everything is worth seeing but can’t be rushed and you have to take into account travel times.
Ashley_W, Aug 2025
This was a great way to see the city. We were only there for a day, so we couldn’t fit in all the attractions and the whole loop of the hop on hop off buses. But, it’s great value for the price. We got a great time to enter the castle and it took stress out of planning. Great option for cruisers who have to tender to port and then bus into the city! Well worth the money to have the flexibility and guaranteed entry. Go early to make the most of your day in Edinburgh! So much to see and do there!
Robert_L, Jul 2025
Easy access and friendly helpful staff.
Can do all major sites in one day but suggest doing them in two
Kim_J, Jul 2025
Well worth booking the hop on bus tours..We saw and learnt a lot more than if we did it on our own steam 😀
Tami_B, Jul 2025
