Tours start at the Red Telephone Box and Tourist Information Police Box, Outside of 300 Lawnmarket. This is across the road from Deacon Brodie’s tavern. Please be there at least 5-10 minutes early as we depart promptly at the tour time. Tours can not wait for latecomers so please do not be late.

I had such a fantastic time and experience! James was engaging, knowledgeable, and added just the right mix of history, storytelling, horror and humor to keep us entertained. The combination of true historical facts and eerie tales really brought Edinburgh’s darker past to life. Walking through the underground vaults was a spine-chilling highlight – the atmosphere was unforgettable! I left feeling both thrilled and fascinated, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Edinburgh who enjoys history with a spooky twist.

Of all the tours we booked this was the one I was most excited for. It did not deliver. Although our guide tried his best to make it eerie, it was really just a bunch of rooms - not underground- and not showing much of anything. We were very disappointed. Would not recommend.

This was a great opportunity to explore the underground vaults. James was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He made it a good trip. There is some walking, but nothing overly burdensome.

Our tour guide was Dom. He told us fun facts and cool history of the area. We laughed, we shrieked, we had a GREAT time! Loved it and would highly recommend!! We went into areas you wouldn't know existed... areas right under your feet!

This was a really well-done walking tour for only taking about an hour (which was ideal for a 10pm start) and involved a few quick and amusing stops along the historic Main Street before arriving at the underground vaults. Ally was an excellent guide. The path is a bit steep and slippery at various points, so wear boots with decent traction. Great way to get a sense of the vaults without committing a ton of time and money!

Darren, the tour guide, presented the tour in a very lively and interactive way. He teased some tour members which added to the fun. The torture museum and the room with the Wiccan stones particularly stand out in my memory. Whether the vaults are haunted or not is a matter of imagination but they certainly stand as a reminder to a dark - and sad - period of Edinburgh's history.

We had a different experience in Edinburgh going through the Vaults hearing all the mysteries stories. Jordan made it fun and scary at the same time. If you have the chance take this tour. You will enjoy it!

Ally , our guide, was very entertaining and gave us great insight into the creepier, less pleasant histories of Edinburgh. "Terror" is a bit misleading. "Creepy" as F, would be better description.
