Depart Edinburgh by comfortable vehicle, and journey along the Firth of Forth.
Learn about Outlander, the historical time-travel TV series based on Diana Gabaldon’s stories, and hear trivia about its characters and Scotland’s history.
In the summer months, stop for photos at 16th-century Midhope Castle, used as Lallybroch Castle, and visit Blackness Castle, the 15th-century fortress that doubled as Black Jack’s headquarters.
Explore the castle (own expense), seeing why it’s called 'the ship that never sailed,’ before traveling to Linlithgow. Take a stroll around this small town or visit ruined Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, and setting of Wentworth Prison, where Jamie was imprisoned.
Continue to the village of Culross whose medieval houses perfectly illustrate 18th-century Scotland, and see Mercat Cross, used as fictional Cranesmuir.
View the Culross Palace gardens, home of Claire’s herb garden, and after refreshments (own expense) at the Biscuit Café, take photos of the Tuileries standing stones (time-dependent).
Finally, visit Falkland (the setting of Inverness) and have time to visit the palace and gardens (own expense) before a final photo stop at South Queensferry and a ride back to Edinburgh.

This trip was wonderful! Vix was our driver and story teller and she was awesome! She kept us entertained and laughing the entire trip. She is patient and kind and even waited in us at one stop because we got time mixed up. Highly recommend for any castle lovers out there or Outlander!!!

So many castles…this was such a great tour for historians and Outlander fans alike! Saw some of our favorites from the show! Linda was AMAZING as she was just the right balance of knowledge and humor, and also allowed some quiet time on the bus. One suggestion - all the castles require extra payment to get in so it makes it more difficult at each location. Make it an ‘all inclusive’ tour and just include the tickets in the initial purchase.

This was amazing tour. It was the best thing in Edinburgh. Our guide Sam was really funny and he told us lots of things about Scotland.

This was a great tour that covered tons of ground. The castles were amazing and we loved Sam’s sense of humor! We also liked the fact that at each stop we had the choice to either roam the town or tour the castle. The tour was a perfect mix of history and Outlander info. Highly recommend!

In many castles, the steps are steep and narrow. A full day worth every moment. There are numerous stops without excessive driving.

This was a such a good tour. Gary was so friendly and full of great information. I loved that we had time to wander on our own at each spot. Every stop was beautiful and different from the other. We saw hairy coos! Definitely get the earl gray soaked fruit scone at the Mercat in Culross. And it is cold, wet and rainy in February but the bus was comfortable and warm.

Our tour guide Ash was amazing!!! He was extremely educated on Scotland's history and made sure inform the group. His way of story telling was entertaining and his way of incorporating outlander in the tour was great. He cracked jokes which were hilarious. Overall a 10/10 tour. Will book with Timberbush tours again.

It was great to see the Castles they used for Outlander. There was one that we couldn't see, but we got to see another instead, so that was the best. They redesigned to be sure we had a great experience. Jamie was also the greatest guide. Super friendly and knowledgeable.

Interesting trip outside of Edinburgh to see countryside and Outlander film locations. Our tour guide Marty is an expert of the series! Really enjoyed the different locations we traveled to and felt we had plenty of time at each location

The tour is very complete, taking you to some of the important locations where the Outlander series was filmed, obviously those near Edinburgh. Castles and attractions are not included in the price. The guided tour by the young Scottish man wearing a cap and ear plugs made a 9-hour tour feel like half the time. He described each place in detail with admirable enthusiasm. Only someone passionate about the history of their ancestors could convey what this young man conveyed to us throughout the tour. Cheers mate!

This was an amazing tour! Our tour guide Jamie C. Was brilliant! Most of us were huge fans but some like my daughter were just along for the ride. Jamie made everything so interesting and was so engaging, he turned the non Outlander fans into fans!!
He was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful- I cannot imagine a better tour guide for this kind of trip! So worth the cost of admission!!

We spent a wonderful day touring the castles from the series Outlander. We saw a total of 4 castles featured in the show, but the highlight was definitely going to Midhope castle! It was emotional! Our tour guide, Jamie C. was super knowledgeable and funny and had a lot of great suggestions for after the tour, for dinner and sights to see! He was fantastic and I highly recommend him as a tour guide and all around great person!

This was a great tour! Lots of castles in one day. Do be aware the daily itinerary may change given filming schedules. This happened to us but the replacement activity was excellent. Martin, our tour guide and driver did an excellent job. Friendly, informative, a safe driver, and easy to understand.

The Outlander Tour is great! We visited all the castles. We saw some standing stones, just not the ones Claire went through. Our driver/tour guide, Marty was fantastic! He was funny and full of knowledge about Outlander.
