Great tour/ saw what we were hoping to see. Friendly and helpful drivers. My only negative was the hotel we were out in. Very old, small, smelly, etc… they need to improve those accommodations. Overall good trip!

Problems in Dublin

Joseph_V, Jul 2024
I purchased this tour specifically to go to the Cliffs of mohr in Galway, I thought it would be a small group tour since there was an overnight involved. Instead, they would wanted to put me onto a one-day tour to Cork and drop me at a hotel that they had booked alone and then be picked up by another tour the following day with 60 people, I suppose to go to the cliffs. I found this totally unacceptable and did not take the tour. Because of their nonrefundable policy, I lost my money, but I know that I purchased the correct Tour because I know when booking a nonrefundable that you better make sure you’re purchasing the right thing. In the end, I’m the one holding the bag and stuck with the loss , and I think it’s pretty inexcusable. Because of a prior problem in the same week on a tour in Glasgow, I am afraid that I have lost all confidence in Viator.

Brilliant

All of it and thank you Clsire from the office for you helpfulness and friendliness and Richard, bus driver for your sense of humour and trying to keep me ‘on time :) Liz Opielinski

,I no longer recommend Paddywagon Tours in any way. (It was that bad)

susan_g, Mar 2024
Although I don’t generally give one star reviews, I must do so for Paddywagon’s two-day tour of Southern Ireland. Notice: This review will be long because I want to include everything that went wrong in hopes that the owners of Paddywagon will fix their many areas that are in need of vast improvement. Additionally, besides the front desk clerk who was zero help, quite dismissive, unable to answer simple questions and basically hung up on me, my review in no way is reflective of the tour guides who did a good job. They are victims of the poor business model too. With that out of the way, let me tell you about my experience. 1. We scheduled online for 7 people in our group for a total of 10 in the 2-day South Dublin tour. 2. The pickup spot has no clear markings. Paddywagon moved their headquarters so you have no one to ask anything (except for the aforementioned front desk clerk by phone if you happen to have international cell service who tells you to google Paddys Place which is a refugee center now and the pickup spot is actually around the corner.). 3. We found the pickup point by verifying with the city worker who was picking up trash in the area. 4. Once we got underway, we changed buses and tour guides no less than four times. Because PW no longer has your guide stay with you for the two days and night, we were shuffled around like we were on a city bus. 5. After we were taken to our lodging in Cork for the night, we were picked up again the next morning at 7:20 am which meant there were no arrangements made for us to eat breakfast before 7 am (which was their start time) and we had to shovel in food and weren’t finished when the bus arrived. 6. Every bus driver gave the same speech about coming back late from every stop and were told the bus would leave without us. We didn’t come back late thankfully but just trying get to the bathroom actually caused us stress because every place was busy. 7. All of our stops were cut short due to the constant driving and backtracking to meet other buses to once again ship us to another bus. They cut out one of our stops entirely (the last castle on the itinerary). 8. The biggest problem by far was the end of the two-day trip when they actually made us leave the bus at 3:50 pm with all of our luggage and wait for the next PW bus to come. We were told that the next bus would be there by 4:30 pm. Now mind you, we were left completely alone with no transportation and no guide or bus and were approximately 2.5 hours from Dublin where we were supposed to end. 9. We called the aforementioned front desk clerk multiple times and were either ignored or told the bus would be there in ten minutes. 10. Finally the bus came at 5:30 pm but we actually thought we would have to take the public bus back to Dublin. We talked to the clerks at the store (Blarmeys Woolery) and they said it happens quite often. Meaning they leave people quite often. The biggest issue with leaving paid patrons before you have been assured that they have been picked up and are on another bus is that it demonstrates that the company is simply callous, careless and plainly unethical (and possibly illegal). If the company chooses to leave those who are late (which is borderline acceptable) is entirely different than failing to pick up customers who were left because of scheduling errors. I did this same tour five years ago and it was an entirely different and much better experience because we traveled as a group with the same tour guide who stayed with us the entire time. I will never do another Paddywagon tour and highly discourage everyone else unless you want most of your time for the stops to be gobbled up with bus transfers. Hopefully you won’t get left behind!

Excursion not to be missed!

Julie_S, Aug 2023
The most memorable parts of the trip were the bus drivers and the amount of knowledge they shared. Also their humor made the rise seem short! Ciaran was fabulous. A few extra stops made us feel so thankful for having this driver and using Viator.

Room rip off - take day tours only $375 for old run down B&bB and cold cream

sue_s, Jul 2023
No wifi horrible $50 person B& b across from railroad and by hostels in Cork. . Hustad cut his leg in ok’d bed frame connection trying to get around narrow passage yo get into bed. No wifi avd 1 bath tied, tv did nit work & up 3 flight steep stairs. No Resturant at all close by! No shopping either close Bus on 2nd day had no WiFi and main Paddy office called the other couple said we were missing in Dublin, but we had bought the 2 day trip with a stay in Cork. Called many times nd said we had to stay on our bus back to Cork !! Finally sorted out but miserable stressful for all

Not very organized

tiakelbaugh, Jun 2023
The 2 day trip was stressful. I paid for the boat ride to see the cliffs, it was not even offered as an option. The overnight trip we were not told where our accommodations where, the guide tried to drop us off at the Hostel even though a BB was paid for. We had to join a different bus the next day and it was chaotic because the new tour we joined was not going back to Dublin and we had to wait for yet a 3rd bus to take us back to Dublin. This was not a good experience and the company seemed lost in the sauce and we did not get what I initially paid for. I live Ireland but will consider a different tour company next time. Very disappointed.

Country & seaside charms of Ireland

Andrea_S, May 2023
Guides were both native Irish & very good at narrating the beautiful countryside of Ireland. I absolutely loved Blarney castle and all the whimsical places & gardens there. The woolen mills were also great! Staying in a B& B was a great idea because we had lots of time in Cork and got to explore freely. I loved the drive to and from The cliffs of Moher- it was a beautiful sunny day with lots of countryside and ruins to look at!! The whole trip was fabulous.

Paddy Wagon tours disorganised.

Lance_F, Apr 2023
Paddy Wagon tours had not uploaded my confirmed booking through Viator for this tour. Fortunately, I had contacted company regarding pick-up location which was unclear the afternoon before and had realised that my booking was not listed. Otherwise, would have turned up and not been accepted, as not listed. Also, 2 day travellers get deposited at Bunratty on 2nd day for an hour with their luggage, until returning Dublin bus comes to collect them. This is not so clearly explained or organised.

Very pleased!

Brenda_A, Feb 2020
I was really pleased with the tour, we had three different tour guides but they all were super nice and funny, so we had a really good time! Got to hear some irish humor and music while driving and i would definitely recommend this tour to others! Nice way to start your trip in Ireland.

2 day South Ireland is good!

Kristi S, Oct 2019
Turned out to be two one day trips but was well coordinated with drivers. Enjoyed some down time on own in Cork. The Cliffs of Moher was spectacular!!! We were greeted by the nice owner at the B&B and he was up early to provide us a lovely hot breakfast to ensure we were on time!

Disappointing tour

Passport761861, Sep 2019
The first day of this tour was great, but the "upgraded" accommodations in Cork were not as expected. The "buffet" breakfast was down right terrible. We had two different drivers on day two and was left feeling this tour is better done in 2 single day trips.

comme ci comme ca

Michael_e, Jul 2019
First day was perfect with our outstanding fun guide Turner who left us at Acorn House in Cork for b & b and returned to Dublin with the main group(we were only 10 for the two day tour). All went smooth according to itinerary provided by you .Second day didn't proceed according to the itinerary. We were picked up by the guide miss Giselle and driver John in a minibus and were informed that we will drive directly to the cliffs of Moher. In the middle off our drive our guide was informed by the guide/driver of the day tour from Dublin to the cliffs of Moher that he had traffic difficulties leaving Dublin and urged our guide to meet him in a parking lot outside Bunratty near the highway to take us onboard for the rest of the day and back to Dublin . Thus we didn't stop in Limerick City to view the river Shannon and get some shots of king John's castle nor did we enter the Bunratty castle which on your itinerary we should have been admitted and was included in whole sum we payed you !!! I tried to claim refund directly from Paddy wagon's but they denied my request on the basis that the Bunratty castle entry is not included on their 2 days south tour at all thus contradicting your offer and itinerary. Please look into the matter seriously and refund me accordingly.

Sights were great, communication for company was lacking

Julie_L, Jun 2019
Seeing the cliffs, Blarney castle, Cork, and other castles was great but the service provided by the vendor was lacking. Prior to going on the trip we didn't receive any itinerary which I found very concerning. When I travel I like to know where I am going and when I am going there. For the 2 day trip you start on a bus that is a mix of people doing the 2 day tour and people doing a day tour, that doesn't get explained to you until later in the day. The overnight in Cork was great but we would have missed the bus in the morning if we followed our bus driver's instructions. The bed and breakfast we stayed in told us a different time for the bus when we checked in so it was very confusing who we should believe. We ended up going to the vendor's office to fully confirm. Again this was very concerning and something that could have been avoided had we been provided an itinerary. In the morning we had a different bus driver, again it was a mix of people doing the 2 day and single day tour. We found out upon getting to the bus that we had to go to another city approx 1/5 hours away to pick up more people, again not a huge deal but it would have been nice to know via an itinerary. While picking the people up we had to wait for 30 minutes because a previous bus didn't pick up all the people they were supposed to, so that cut into our time. The bus driver on the second day was eh, not very friendly or informative. Then the next surprise came, at the last stop the peole on the 2 day tour would be abandoned with their luggage to wait for another bus to come and bring us back to Dublin. The tour company did not leave anyone with us to ensure the other bus showed up, nor did they make arrangements for our luggage to be stored while we waited 45 minutes for another bus to show up. I found this very unprofessional considering that in the morning we had to wait 30 minutes for people that weren't even on our bus but then no consideration was given to us for the same treatment. When the 3rd bus finally arrived it was from another tour so we were just joining at the end for the ride back to Dublin. The bus driver informed us that we most likely wouldn't get to sit together because the people from the day trip didn't leave any seats together for us. What kind of tour company can't organize that they are going to have more people joining the bus and doesn't save them seats together???? Overall found the service, communication and organization very lacking.

Promising start, disappointing ending

Sailesh_R, Apr 2019
Joined the Paddywagon crew for an early morning start. First day was worthy but 3 bus changes later, a delay of more than an hour and a drop-off at a spot different from where we were fetched left a bitter taste in our mouths.

We got lucky!

Tamara_L, Jul 2018
We got lucky with beautiful weather and great drivers both days. Richard was wonderful-we learned a lot about Ireland, we laughed and enjoyed the day. Michael was entertaining as well and made sure we were timely and understanding everything he said. My only issue was that our Bed and Breakfast in Cork was not accommodating to the warm weather so our room was very hot at night. We barely slept. A fan would have been nice!

Mary was a wonderful tour guide. Even with an overly opinionated customer on our tour, Mary remained respectful and professional. The tour was informative, fun, funny and exciting. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has very limited time in Ireland and would like to see as much as possible.

Due to the tour guide, Paul he made this tour amazing. Told stories sang songs and kept us totally entertained. He walked us to our B and B and made sure we were comfortable before leaving us in Cork. It was a long distance to drive between destinations and we were very happy that we choose to stay overnight in Cork. It broke up the drive and made the trip more interesting. Loved kissing the Blarney Stone !!!!

We absolutely loved this tour! The places we stopped were beautiful and interesting, and the tour guides were friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We got the history of everywhere we went and learned so much about the history of Ireland as a whole. I am personally pretty critical to cheesy tour guides, but both guides we had were genuinely funny and interesting. The set up was a little odd since this isn't so much a 2-day tour as it is 2 separate 1-day tours with a hostel/B and B stay overnight, but the transition was smooth and easy. I loved that we got an evening in Cork on our own to explore, and the B and B we stayed in that night was lovely. The absolute highlight of the trip was seeing the Cliffs of Moher. They were beautiful and we got nearly 2 hours to walk across them which was the perfect amount of time. I'd recommend this tour even if it was twice the price, since it's an easy and thorough way of seeing a lot of Ireland quickly. I couldn't believe how much we got out of spending so little. For less than 200 each we got transportation all around Ireland on a comfortable bus with free WiFi, free admission into places like Cashel of the Kings, Blarney Castle, and the Cliffs of Moher, as well as a stay in a nice B and B. I can't even imagine how much the transportation, admission, and overnight stay would have cost if I'd have tried to put it all together myself, then on top of it we got to hear from great tour guides! I cannot recommend this tour and Paddywagon Tours enough!

Phil L, Sep 2017
Paddywagon tour company may be competent with one day tours however they could certainly use more organization and tact when it comes to the 2 day tour. Those of us who paid for the 2 day tour were shuffled around and pretty much made to feel like we were an inconvenience to them. An example of what I mean is that they shifted us from one bus and guide in mid-stream so we were taken to some sites twice and we didn't get to see some others at all. When we questioned one of the drivers his response was I've come out of my way to pick you guys up to get you back to Dublin. Seriously - how in the heck was that our fault and who organized this. We were very disappointed and made to feel like we were a burden instead of paying clients - and it wasn't exactly cheap. Also if you are considering this tour and think that choosing to stay in a BandB will be a chance to interact with an Irish family in their home, think again. There was no more interaction with the gentleman than you would have in a hotel. We did numerous tours in Scotland and Ireland and they were wonderful but I must say this 2-day tour was a major disappointment and we now wish we would have used those 2 days in a much more pleasant way.

Natalie, Aug 2017
Our guide for the first part was Val - he's AMAZING. His energy and knowledge made all the difference. Not many people do the two day... make sure you know that you will take 3 different busses with different drivers who may or may not know you're coming. We ended up waiting in the parking lot at Bunratty castle for awhile and hopped on the next Dublin bound bus asap. Make sure you figure out what stop you need to be at for the beginning -- Viator never told me, so I went to the Paddywagon office in Dublin the day before, just to check. Spending the night in Cork was a brilliant idea instead of the drive back to Dublin! Go to Sin E' and hang there all night -- a wonderful pub with live music. The sights were great and I got to hit the major points of Ireland in a short amount of time. Overall very happy with this choice!

Amazing tour! My key highlights for this tour was visiting Blarney Castle and the Cliffs of Moher were beautiful! The over night hostel was okay, the only creepy thing was it was right next to a cemetery, other than that it was a nice hostel. When in Cork make sure you get a burger at Son of a Bun.

Chelsers01, Nov 2016
Let me start by saying, we had an excellent time on our tour! We had wonderful weather and very accommodating and friendly guides. I had to deduct stars though because the execution and advertisement of the tour are way off. First of all, its not really a two day tour. It's two one day tours where they set up a B&B overnight in Cork. On the first day we went to Blarney & Cashel. We did not stop in Cobh at all, which was a disappointment. However, Blarney's grounds were stunning. I was so glad we had plenty of time to roam around the gardens. By the time we go to Cork there wasn't time to make it to the markets at all, we had an hour to roam around and then the driver dropped us off at our B&B, which was totally accommodating. The next day a taxi picked us up and took us to the day two tour bus. There was some confusion over who was paying for the taxi at first, but the tour guide resolved it quickly. We joined the 2nd day's tour and had a fabulous day seeing the Cliffs and Burren and had a lovely lunch in Doolin. We did not stop in Limerick, but just drove through. The last stop was too late to actually go into Bunratty, but could take some pictures. At this point we have to change buses again to go back to Dublin since the day 2 tour is going back to where we started in Cork (the driver warned us about this at lunch). So we had to unload our stuff and sit and wait for a bus heading to Dublin that had space for us. We got very lucky and got the last two seats on the first bus that came by. Our original day 2 driver held his bus and waited until the next bus pulled into the parking lot before leaving as I think he noticed we felt a little bit uneasy, so that was thoughtful. Once on the Dublin bus we just headed back and got in around 8pm. Overall the sights and the guides were great, but the execution of this '2-day tour' is really lacking and the itinerary as listed here is just inaccurate. I would take another tour with Paddywagon, but not a 2-day.

Tiffany_M, Jul 2016
This was an absolutely horrible tour experience. Book elsewhere! The tour time is listed incorrectly and I missed my tour on the first day due to it. I was able to reschedule for the next day, however the tour didn't follow the correct itinerary listed, so I am highly disappointed in this purchase due to the fact that i didn't get to see the stops that I had planned on seeing. Day 1- Didn't stop in Cobh, wasn't able to see the St. Coleman's Cathedral or Cork harbour. No Lunch stop in Cork we stopped there for an hour after the Blarney Castle. Overnight Hostel was horrible. The bathroom toilet leaked, there are no lockers to keep your belongings, breakfast wasn't ready when it said it would be, they had no key for me to even get into my room when I came back later in the night!! Day 2- No where was it mentioned that you would be switching tours in the middle of the day, my tour guide didn't tell me until I got back on the bus from lunch that I needed to get off and wait 40 minutes until the next bus stopped to pick me up. The next bus didn't come for another hour, and then was stopped there for an hour, so I wasted 2 hours stopped in Doolin doing nothing except hoping another bus would come pick me up. We didn't stop to see the Burren or Bunratty Castle either. Everything that the itinerary laid out was either incorrect for the time of the day, or we didn't even stop to see at all.

Kimberly S, Jun 2016
It was an extremely unorganized trip, overpriced, and besides the very nice Bed and Breakfast and the woman who ran it, it was not very enjoyable. We waited hours for buses and got extremely little in way of tour guides.
