Top Dublin Hop on Hop Off Buses

This is a must do event. The Cliffs of Moher are simply breathtaking. There’s no other way to describe it. The booking itself is 12-13 hours by the time it’s all said and done. We took a comfort break, which was long enough to get a meal and use the toilet, on the way to the Cliffs. That was nice because it’s a bit of a drive. After the Cliffs we stopped at a scenic overlook for a moment. Then our last stop was Galway. We spent two hours there. It was enough time to explore and get a meal as well. Then back to Dublin. I recommend taking Dramamine or some type of anti nausea medication. At least half of the drive is on narrow winding roads. If you are sensitive to that type of thing, take medication before the tour begins. Even though it was a long day, our guide Carol made the trip go by quickly. She gave us information along the way but also gave us moments to ourselves to rest or have our own conversations. The driver Silvie did a great job as well. I simply don’t understand how she could maneuver the giant bus so effortlessly but she did it. I highly recommend this tour All and all it was worth the time and money. It’s a must do.

Alex was AWESOME! He was totally knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our many random questions. Questions ranging from history, politics, construction materials - all the way to geology and much more! We were able to have a very small group because we booked an early morning tour. Felt like a private tour. Thank you, Alex. We'll done.

Absolute best tour while I was in Dublin. Niall was so passionate about all the locations we went to. Was super educational but also enjoyed the hell out of the tour! Wish we could’ve had a pint with him. Would recommend anyone going to Dublin to take a tour with Niall!

This is one of my favorite tours ever! My husband wasn’t that enthusiastic when i booked this but afterwards, he agreed it was both fun and tasty. The bus is a beautifully refurbished 1960s double decker with comfortable seats and tables. The selection of teas was excellent and comes in a travel cup to take home. Included are 3 small sandwiches and several sweets that were all quite delicious. The tour guide was very entertaining and she pointed out several interesting places as well drove past them. Her stories were humorous and engaging. The rest of the staff were very attentive asking frequently if we wanted more to drink and even providing take home boxes for the food we hadn’t eaten. We had such a good time on this tour! We definitely recommend it as a unique and enjoyable experience.

You’re in for a very entertaining experience, thanks to drivers like Nate, as our first visit to Dublin was made a lot less stressful by the Big bus route stops and information about landmarks along the way, historic facts, stories and well timed anecdotes! Well done, carry on!

Our guide Rory was great! We went through the Jameson Distillery and had 3 samples at the end of the tour. Rory walked us down to Guinness while stopping at places along the way to tell us about the history of Ireland and how his mother would go to Belfast to buy Christmas presents because they were cheaper. Good childhood memories. I can’t comment on Guinness as we arrived at 2:38pm and were told that the building was closing at 3pm for an event so we got our Guinness at the roof top bar and walked down to the gift shop. Rory didn’t know about the early closing. I would go to Guinness again to actually see the exhibit.

Great experience! We try riding the hop on hop off bus in every major city we visit. It always helps us find our bearings and find where we want to explore more. This bus is no exception. If you can Darrin and have him as your driver you are in for an extra entertaining ride!

This was a full day and definitely worth the price! The Big Bus Hop-On Hop-Off combined with the Guinness Storehouse was a great way to explore Dublin while still having the flexibility to add our own plans. We caught the 9:00 AM bus to Kilmainham Gaol for a 9:45 tour (tickets are separate and should be booked in advance). We hopped back on around 11:30, headed to O’Connell Street for lunch, then took the bus to the Guinness Storehouse for our 2:30 PM tour. We still had plenty of time to make our 6:00 PM dinner reservation. The bus stops were easy to find, and the drivers were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. There were also some great perks, including free pints and restaurant discounts. Definitely download the Big Bus app! It made finding stops and checking when the next bus would arrive extremely easy. And on a rainy Dublin day, the bus was especially appreciated! The Guinness Storehouse is a must-do. The self-guided tour covers how Guinness is made, its famous marketing, a tasting, and plenty of fun photo opportunities. You finish with an included pint at the Gravity Bar with amazing 360° views over Dublin. There are alternatives to traditional Guinness too, including a non-alcoholic option. Personally, I’d skip paying extra for the STOUTie experience unless you really want a pint with your face printed on it. I did it on a previous trip and was underwhelmed, and this time the line was huge. Overall, five stars! A fun, convenient way to see Dublin and a great value for a full day of sightseeing.
