Excellent Tour! Do Not Miss!
We booked with Pat because of his great reviews and we were not disappointed. Being a group of teachers, we were looking for a tour that combined great sites, great historical information and great stories. This tour is that and more. We know so much about Kilkenny and Irish history that we didn't know before. Pat is charming and knowledgeable. Do not miss this tour!

Do this experience! Just do it!!!
We had an absolutely fantastic time learning hurling with Michael! From the moment we arrived, he made every part of the hour and a half enjoyable and created a fun, welcoming atmosphere for everyone, regardless of experience or ability.
Michael did an incredible job tailoring the session so everyone could participate and feel successful. The drills and activities were easy to follow while still giving us a real appreciation for the skill and speed involved in hurling. Even though I wasn’t very good at it (while everyone else in my group seemed to pick it up quickly, I never felt discouraged. Michael was patient, encouraging, and somehow managed to make me feel confident despite my lack of talent. That says a lot about what a great coach he is.
We also learned so much about the history, rules, and culture of hurling, which made the experience even more meaningful. My husband enjoyed it so much that we’ve already started looking for hurling clubs back home.
This experience was an excellent value, the location was easy to find, and it’s only a few minutes from many of Kilkenny’s top attractions, making it a perfect addition to a day of sightseeing.
I would highly recommend this experience to anyone and everyone visiting Kilkenny. Whether you’re athletic or have never picked up a hurley before, Michael will make sure you have an unforgettable time.

Good Tour of Kilkenny!
John gave us a good tour of Kilkenny and its extensive history, including kilkenny castle, the church (we even climbed the round tour), the black abbey, Carnegie library (he built over 80 libraries in Ireland), the river, old city walls, witch trial in Kilkenny, Oliver Cromwell, hurling, restaurant recommendations, and much more. He knows his stuff! Good overview of Kilkenny to get your bearings to this lovely city.

Wonderful historic tour of Kilkenny with a great guide!
What an excellent tour of Kilkenny!! John was a wonderful tour guide full of stories around every corner of the city. He starts his tours at the foot of St Canace’s because as he explains, St Canace is really how Kilkenny got its start. He took us through lanes and byways we never would have found on our own and gave us a terrific understanding of this amazing city. We love history and this was truly an amazing tour including St Canace’s, Black Abbey (gorgeous inside), the history of the breweries, Rothe House, Kyteler’s, Butter Slip, and so much more. Our tour ended after a stroll through the beautiful grounds of Kilkenny Castle, the stables, and Butler House and Gardens. John was clearly known and loved about town as demonstrated by the smiling faces who greeted him at our stops and along the way. A great tour guide and a wonderful tour filled with history and beauty in this amazing town. We highly recommend John for your tour if you are lucky enough to book with him!

A tour worth every single minute!
Brilliant and smartly done presentation of Kilkenny’s past, warts n’ all! It was so informative and entertaining. Sharon, our guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable and didn’t shy away from presenting the cold, hard facts (as history can be murky) about the English/ Irish relationship and the early Irish citizens of Kilkenny. Sharon is also a confident speaker with a clear, strong voice that keeps you riveted. She should be a voiceover artist for historical documentaries! While the tour did talk about the spirits and ghosts of Kilkenny, it’s not a spooky tour if that’s what one is expecting. It’s a tour that touches on the messy, tangle stories of Kilkenny’s past that resonate to this day.

The tour guide was...
The tour guide was informative and entertaining. The walk starts at the castle and takes you to several stops along the way. The tour loops back on itself some and ends somewhere in the middle of the distance, which prevents having to walk all the way back to the starting at the end of a long tour. This tour made the trip the day in Kilkenny worth it.
