Itinerary

Depart from your Cusco hotel very early in the morning as you proceed on a drive to Huambo. Fuel up with an included boxed breakfast meal before beginning your ascent of this unusual mountain.

Lace up your hiking boots and scale the Colorado Mountain, also known as Rainbow Mountain, eventually reaching the summit, where you’ll take in panoramic views of the surrounding alpine scenery. The mountain’s unique layers of red, gold, and turquoise rocks add an unexpected, and photogenic, bonus to this beautiful vista.

Then trek back down the mountain, after which you’ll drive back and receive a drop-off at your Cusco hotel.

Rainbow mountain

Booked our trip on visitor to visit rainbow mountain, which is a must see experience if you’re visiting Peru. Our driver picked us up at our hotel is Cusco and we headed out for the 3 hour drive to the mountain. I have to really complement the driving, because the last 30 minutes of the ride, the only road up the mountain is unpaved and runs along the mountain side. Our driver navigated the roads without issue and I was happy to have him driving. Once there, our guide Richard explained we had the option of renting a horse or hiking the trail to the base of the mountain. My fiancé took the horse and I chose to walk (30 min by horse and 1hr-2hr walking depending on your endurance). Once at the mountain, Richard had walking poles ready for us and took photos for us. My fiancé had an issue with the altitude and Richard even had an oxygen tank to help her. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend them to anyone looking to book.
