Our driver, Olga, made this trip fantastic! The Land Rover travel was comfortable. The guests rotated seating to ensure that everyone had the off-road experience. We stopped along the trip to see the amazing views! The shepherds hit was very interesting. We enjoyed the delicious lunch, prepared by the shepherd’s family. Highly recommend this trip!

Fabulous trip driven by the very competent Louise.
Lots of hairpin bends in a very comfortable Jeep. We had a delicious lunch.
This is a great way to experience some of Crete's oldest traditions as you work your way out of the city and into the mountains. The drive is beautiful and you learn about the different growing conditions at different elevations. The food in the restaurant is delicious. Seeing how the Shepards lived and worked for so many years is super cool too. This is the second time I've done this tour. The first time was 10 years ago.

Great day which lets you see much more than just the beaches and tourist shops …. well paced, stops for photos, comfortable 4x4, interesting highlight was the old shepherds hut and lunch was excellent!

We had a good trip out into the mountains in a jeep car. It was nice to get off road and see some views in the mountains and go above 1000m above sea level to a shepherd's hut. There was quite a long gap of around 3 hours between coffee and lunch for a toilet break. The lunch was excellent at a traditional taverna. Greek salad, zucchini, aubergine stew, pork and potatoes and of course Raki afterwards. Overall it was a good and different way to spend the day.

Our tour started hy meeting John (Ioannis), you can tell how passionate he is about the island from his explainations of the history of the island its agriculture. At one point we had to change drivers as something came up. Our next driver was Panagiotis (Panos), sadly I got injured and hopefully this didn't leave some kind of trauma. They immediately organized themselves and help me out. They took me to a taverna near by where a van came to pick me up with a driver Manoulis , who bandaged my foot. He then rushed me to the hospital where they took x-rays and afterwards also helped us get to a pharmacy. Eventually he dropped us off at our residence. Truly altough I didn't finish the tour I think I have never met more helpful, kind and friendly people. Also I hope that Ioannis reads this you were greatly missed.

We had a lovely day, Giannis our driver was fabulous, informative, friendly and funny. The views from the White Mountains are amazing , the shepherds hut was very interesting, the drive up in some parts are very bumpy, if you have a bad back, think twice. The Land Rover was fine and able to take the off road experience. We had a great group of 8 in the car. The coffee and lunch stops were lovely, the
toilets very clean. We had a great time, so pleased we did it to see outside Chania, and would highly recommend it.

A wonderful journey into Crete's traditional life. This touched modern Crete and then went into the villages of the mountains to see how it's been for centuries. Olga was a fantastic guide. Be aware that some of the mountain roads were rough.

My husband and I took the white mountain tour with Olga, and we were blown away by the experience. We were lucky enough to get a private tour since we came in March. Olga was a ton of fun, gave us incredible information, and recommendations for our stay in Chania. She took us to the most beautiful views, a shepherds hut, and the shepherd’s family restaurant, which was DIVINE. Don’t fear the drive, Olga is a true pro and made us feel very safe! Thanks to Olga we had a true 10/10 experience! She even took a ton of pictures for us and helped us get in the adventurers’ spirit. Thanks Olga!

I loved going through the little villages and seeing more of the way locals live. Our guide was an accomplished driver, fun, funny and a fountain of knowledge. The vehicle was perfect for type of roads and terrain we navigated. We went really high! The stops were lovely and the lunch delicious and traditional. It was a wonderful day.

The transport and driver were particularly good. We also enjoyed the lunch. Unfortunately at this time of year the shepherd and his sheep had already left their farm. It would have been nicer if the hut had been inhabited.

The trip was amazing. The guides were all excellent and very knowledgeable, but I have to say Jason was the best- entertaining as well as everything else.
The views were to die for, the food was excellent.

Though the trip was titled, "Explore the White Mountains of Crete", we saw only some parts of it from a distance (mainly the apex). However, we visited a Shepherd's hut and his cattle were roaming happily, uncaged. We also learnt about the Shepherd's lifestyle and saw how cheese was made.

Our guide Emmanuel picked us up promptly. After 2 more pick up stops, we headed inland and up - way up - into the mountains. The road is well paved except for the last few miles. I took a Bonine and managed the curves okay. Lunch was delicious and portions were generous to say the least. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke pretty good English, and he's also fluent in German.

Overall the trip was very good. The scenery is beautiful and our driver Nikos was so knowledgable and educated us throughout the tour. His sense of humor added to the experience Our lunch was excellent. Especially enjoyed going to the herders Minato. Only draw back was i was seated in the very back of the vehicle and could not see a lot of the scenery.

Our guide told us much about Cretan culture that we did not know.

Olga did a great job of explaining the history of Chenia and rural life. She was very knowledgeable, caring about the history of the area and interesting. The day was spent driving looking at various spots along the journey. We picked oranges, visited a shepherds house and ate a traditional lunch.

Harrison was a great guide and the knowledge about Crete was amazing. If you get a little car sick due to winding roads and high altitudes, you might want to choose another experience.

Mountain scenery spectacular and going there by Land Rover good experience. Guide (Jason) was excellent; pleasant and very informative.
The guide Jonathan telling us about the history of Crete and the flora and fauna of the white mountains.
Worth it for the views from the mountains. We reached around 1000m altitude and went roughly halfway across the island (along a north-south axis). We had the best driver (Eftihis), who is native to Crete and deftly manouvred the 4 wheel-drive vehicle around tight hairpin bends and on unsealed roads/ rocky tracks. He spoke well and gave us lots of information about the area, including its history, and was generally pretty entertaining. The stop at the shephard's hut was an authentic bucolic setting gaves us a glimpse into what rural life was not that long ago. Lunch was included in the trip and was decent. There is no way I would have reached these areas on my own.
Had a great time with my British/Irish/European/Cretan guide. He was knowledgeable and funny. Also I was told by a different tour guide from another excursion that Crete was the second largest island in the Mediterranean, this is not true and Explore the White Mountains of Crete cleared this up. They knew a lot!
The excellent driving and local knowledge of Aris who was also our guide. Being in a small group of 5 gave everyone a chance to ask questions, digest the experience and get to know each other. It was particularly interesting to be in a very comfortable air-conditioned 4x4 Land Rover and to switch off-road to access parts we would not otherwise have reached even if we had hired a car. The visits to the shepherd's dwelling, his family taverna and the olive oil and honey producer were particularly memorable and the scenery and flora and fauna were stunning.
