- How you help the local community by joining this tour: - On this tour, you meet a local greengrocer, cheesemonger, butcher, and fishmonger, and other family-owned businesses that sell their own Cretan-only products. - Visit one of the last remaining Chania workshops with traditional handmade Cretan knives and hear stories about this tradition by the knife maker. - During this tour, you sample locally-sourced food from Crete’s villages, farmers and stock-breeders.
- Food Allergies: Unless you suffer from multiple, combined food allergies, or unless you are a vegan, we will figure it out. Vegetarians are welcome on all tours.
- If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides a tip – though not compulsory – is appropriate. We had a wonderful experience with our tour guide George. He took us to the historic areas that we would not have went to on our own. The food was amazing and truly the best tour of our whole trip. When in Chania definitely take this tour.

George was amazing filled with knowledge and interesting facts. His relationships with the local vendors who provided our group with wonderful food from the region the cheese plate was life changing. The tour made we wish I had more time in town and on the island of Crete it was an incredible day

Elena was an amazing guide so full of life and laughter we could not praise her enough. The company was also amazing despite changes to our docking plans nothing was too much trouble for them.
The tour itself was better than advertised we thought it would be just snacks but there was so much different food and salads that we were pleasently surprised. The tour comprises both history and food tasting and we could not praise it enough if you ever get to chania in crete then book this tour

Great tour! Jannis was very knowledgeable and kind as he walked us through the town. It was very hot that day, so we made sure to have water. The sit-down with Jannis in a small quiet courtyard on the final leg of our tour was the best part. We just said like old friends and talked about everything while eating amazing food and drinking wine. His knowledge about Greek history, politics was fascinating, which made it even more engaging; particularly if you also have historical knowledge and can discuss on an equal level. Super fun and would high recommend it.

We always like to learn a little about the main place for our holiday- this time it is Chania in Crete and we chose a walking tour with food tasting for a change and it was a lovely 4 hours ending in lunch with our excellent & friendly guide Andonis. We met at an easy to find location, warmly welcomed and dived straightaway into local delicacies , sweet and savoury and then a visit to a deli to sample cheeses and olives. Meandering through pretty side streets we learnt the importance of 1913 & Venetian architecture - sounds deep but it was fun in the way our guide conveyed it. Adonis helped us to locate key places to visit in the West of Crete and it is clear he loves his Island and his heritage.
A well worth it trip money wise and from a getting to grips with Crete too!

This was an easy paced food tour that highlighted some of the excellent foods (and drink) from Crete. We walked through the old district of Chaina, while our guide explained the history of the town and the important sights. And yes, we enjoyed all sorts of different, delicious local foods.

Our tour guide took us to very authentic local places for exposer to the food in this region. He educated us on the culture, history and cuisine. The meeting point was just a few minutes walk from Princess complementary shuttle drop off stop. I thought it will be a small group of 6, it turned out there were 9 of us on the tour, mostly from the cruise, but that was fine as the tour guide Andonis was wonderful. He was personable, full of energy and super enthusiastic on introducing us to Chania. Our family all enjoyed it.

Manos is an extraordinary tour leader who has a in depth knowledge of Crete/Chania and its history and happily shares that with his tour (there were only 5 of us in our tour which made it feel so personal) and Manos made us feel like a cousin was showing us around Chania tasting all the fabulous foods and sweets and the most delicious Raki I have ever tasted.
I strongly recommend this tour, if you love food and want to see many sights and experiences from a wonderful local (Manos) in Chania Greece.
He also provided many recommendations for our stay in Chania (Manos always goes above and beyond to please and help people in his tour)

Yiannis was amazing! We enjoyed so much the history and background he shared about the food we tried and the beautiful city of Chania. Our host was amazing! Very personable and knowledgeable of food, architecture, and Chania. The only thing to note is that our food allergies were not passed to him from Viator so there were many food items we couldn’t eat. He tried to adjust but it was difficult. Not his fault at all!
