Return point: Returns to original departure point or can be drop-off at the city center.

Itinerary
Begin your day with hotel pickup in Chengdu and travel by private, air-conditioned vehicle to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. On arrival, walk through the facility to observe giant pandas at different life stages and learn about the work being done to protect and study the species.
After time at the research base, continue to Wenshu Temple, a well-known Buddhist monastery in the city. Explore the temple grounds before stopping for lunch nearby.
In the afternoon, visit Kuanzhai Alley, where restored lanes and Qing-style courtyard houses offer a look at traditional Chengdu architecture and neighborhood life. Walk through the pedestrian streets as your guide shares background on the area’s history and development.
The day continues at People’s Park, a popular gathering place where locals come to relax, socialize, and drink tea. Spend time walking through the park and stop at a teahouse before returning to your hotel.

The tour was a perfect solution for a long layover. The panda research centre is the highlight. Those glentle giants are amazing.
Our guide Perry was excellent. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Told us lots about pandas, thought us the history of Chengdu and showed us the local culture and cuisine like we never imagined possible for that short time.

Book this tour with Silvia, who has a kind and positive personality. All tour guides have completed university and know the history very well, making it very interesting to listen to them. We started our tour early to reach the Panda Base by 8 am. It's best to go there as early as possible to avoid crowds. Trust me, wake up at 6 am if needed :) so you can better see and enjoy the lives of the pandas. This was the reason I went to China and I was so happy to see these cute creatures. Later, we went to a Zen Buddhist monastery on a famous street. I was amazed at how everything is still so authentic in China—temples, tea houses, food, tea bars, and ear grooming. Afterwards, we went to People's Park. I visited on a Friday, which was a public holiday. Wow, the things you will see there will amaze you. Then we had traditional green tea in a tea house. Actually, I haven't seen such tea houses in either Beijing or Hangzhou. So, please enjoy every moment there. Later, we also went to another tourist spot—a street where you can buy lots of souvenirs, clothes, sweets, and more.

Both Casey and Helen arrived early at the hotel and driver was ready for us. Casey spoke very good English and very knowledgeable about the tour. We saw the Panda at close proximity, there were quite a few Giant Pandas in the Panda base. Casey helped us to navigate through the crowd with ease.
Good vegetarian meal at the monastery. The wide and narrow alleys were very interesting, full of character and cultural history. Definitely recommend this tour. Thanks to both Casey and Helen for a very goof tour in Chengdu.

Our tour guide Worley was great. She adapted the tour to meet our needs and wants. We never felt rushed or spent too long anywhere. The Panda Breeding Center was sooo much more than I could imagine, and it does my heart well to know that the Great Panda is recovering in the wild because of this program. Kudos to China! Great day tour with seeing sights that interested us, maybe not what others would want. That's because of a great tour guide.

Our guide, Rudy, was excellent and had actually worked at the panda reserve for 7 years so he knew exactly where to take us. Saw lots of pandas, both regular and red.
The city tour was great and I would recommend the ear cleaning. Had a delicious vegetarian lunch at the Buddhist temple. Had plenty of time for shopping. Rudy explained everthing.

Our family of four had a wonderful tour with Martin!! Highly recommend him!!! We were picked up promptly at our hotel and taken to our first stop at the Panda Breeding Center. The pandas were very cute and a favorite for our family. After a couple hours there we then spent the rest of the day enjoying the Temple, People's Park, and Kuan-Zhai Lane. We enjoyed lunch at the Buddhist monastery and enjoyable cups of tea later in the day. Martin was very knowledgeable and it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. And since we are vegetarians he was able to help us select some delicious dishes for lunch. We wish we had booked another tour in Chengdu to be able to request him as our guide again. Overall the tour was just over 9 hours, a perfect day!!

Just a fabulous day in and around Chengdu. Our guide, Mars, and the driving arrived on time at 7:30 and we were at the Panda reserve by 8. You need to be there by then or skip the whole deal - it gets crazy crowded. Mars knew her way around the complex and it saved a lot of aimless wandering looking for Pandas. We saw loads of the bears in every conceivable circumstance - eating, playing, sleeping. The babies are wondrous. Off to the largest Shrine in Chengfu and then Wide and Narrow Alleys and finally People's Park including a stop for tea.
Overall this was an excellent and in our opinion, the ONLY way to see the Pandas and then city. A busload of 50 would have only made the day slower, less flexible and more crowded. The mini-van was clean and our driver Oh did a great job getting us around.
I don't give 5-stars to anything but Samtours and Mars were just that perfect

Jeni was a great guide. She and our driver were also very kind to let us change our itinerary around at the last moment, so we could also get to the panda preserve where we got our pictures taken with the pandas. Also great food tips. Wish we had more time to spend in Chengdu.

Our trip to Chengdu was amaaaaazzzziiingg!!! From the pick up with Martin at our hotel, to the Panda Research Base- early enough to catch some fun antics, to the Wide and Narrow Alleys and the Marriage Market at the People's Park- It was ALL Awesome! Well timed plans, a knowledgeable guide, and fun ensued! The best tour I've taken. We highly recommend Samtour and Martin!

This tour was amazing and the highlight of my trip so far. My tour guide Martin arrived promptly and met me at the hotel lobby on time and was very knowledgeable. The panda park is huge and he knew exactly where to go and what to do to avoid the crowds. I had my own driver in a nice car too!! Do it!

Love this tour and the tour guide was very informative. Did a lot of walking but was worth it. Loved the Pandas and the bamboo shoots were everywhere. So beautiful.

We had a great time as we were brought by Ms Jenny Ting, our tour guide round the Chengdu Research Centre and not missing meeting the Pandas as well as the Red Pandas.
The City Tour was great too as we have enough time to move around and shop for souvenirs.
The tea was marvelous and we met a Chengdu report taking pictures around including all of us.
The snacks was tasty and a good experience for us to try since it was a first time for us.

Very enjoyable tour, our guide Sam was very knowledgable about the local area and organised our day perfectly. Although the panda centre was our highlight, the monastery was very interesting and our rest in the park in the tea house was a lovely look into Chinese culture. I would recommend this tour, as we only had two days in Chengdu it was a fantastic way to spend a day.

Today it was my birthday and I'm off to see the pandas. I was met by the wonderful Jeli and we set off at 07:30. Arriving at the base Jeli led the way and I was not disappointed with great views of the big cuddly ones. We then saw the younger pandas then the red pandas. As we were walking back we visited the film theatre and could see the value of getting to the centre early as there were large groups entering .A wonderful morning. We left for lunch and the sightseeing tour. Such a lovely day with tea and snacks at the end , A lovely birthday in the company of Jeli who was fantastic

We booked this tour from Viator, it was easy, safe and value for money.
In China the company that ran the tour was amazing.
Our guide Green picked us up in a private car with friendly driver. Our guide was polite, courteous, friendly and very knowledgable about ChengDu.
Our tour included: Panda Research Centre where in March we saw 6 month old panda cubs, visit to the wide and narrow alleys, lovely vegetarian lunch and look around a rarely seen Buddhist Monastery, we then proceeded to the People's Park where the retired dance and socialise. We went and had tea at a traditional tea house, where we socialised and had our ears cleaned like the locals. We finished our day with traditional snacks from a restaurant in the park where the same recipes have been used for generations.
We loved ChengDu and felt this tour allowed us to see it from a locals viewpoint, our experience was enhanced due to the openness and kindness of our wonderful guide.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our main reason for visiting chengdu was to see the panda's and we weren't disappointed. Our guide was very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this tour.

Andy picked us up at our hotel and took us to the Panda centre. We had wanted to have a photo with a panda and Andy organised this for us. We went on to a Buddhist monastery for lunch and Andy helped us choose foods which we would like. She then took us to a quaint tourist shopping area, then onto the peoples park where we walked around and had tea and relaxed, later in the evening we had some snacks for dinner. All in all it was a great day. Andy went out of her way to make sure the day was excellent. The day was well panned with lots of interesting things to do and see. Even our driver was great, very pleasant and always ready to pick us up and take us to the next destination. I would definitely recommend this tour, without Andy there is no way we could pack so much into one day, but having someone else do all the organising it still felt really relaxed.

It was a nice day. Seeing the pandas was great and walking around the old parts of Chengdu was interesting. We'd have liked to spend a big more time browsing the shops in the Old Town Area but felt a bit rushed. The food was very disappointing and the tour lasted for 9 hours but should have been 11.

Ho visto dei posti meravigliosi. La mia guida parlava un inglese perfetto e era molto preparata. Avevo solo un giorno di scalo nell'aeroporto di Chengdu, quindi ne ho approfittato per vedere la città e i panda. Questo tour è perfetto se siete curiosi di conoscere questa città. Nel mio caso mi hanno ritirato direttamente al panda base e poi mi hanno lasciato nel treno per andare all'aereoporto. Però mi hanno detto che pagando un plus potevano prendermi e portarmi direttamente loro dall'aereoporto. Comunque mi è piaciuto davvero tanto scoprire questa città cinese. Da sola non avrei potuto orientarmi così bene
