Top Chengdu Day Trips

Spending time with Jerry was the highlight of our time in Chengdu. Getting around the local market while chatting about traditions, ingredients, why this, why that. Then we learned to cook several recipes and ate our dishes afterwards with some cold beer! Jerry went beyond his way to make us feel home and answer to our curiosities. It's a must do experience when in Chengdu, we wouldn't have grasped as much about the local culture without it!

An excellent experience and a must do in Chengdu. My guide Perry was super courteous and knew not only about pandas in general, but also had commentary about individual pandas in the center. He also gave me a great recommendation for what to eat in Chengdu and have some super detailed info on Wuhouci. Count me happy.

This tour was one of the best days of the trip! The panda base was amazing and we saw 3 month old baby pandas - so cute! The trip to the giant Buddha is well worth it. The journey is about 2 hours each way but the transport was so comfortable that it went by really quickly. We opted for the river cruise option and it was really enjoyable. The lunch in Leshan was brilliant too - crab dumplings one of the best things I’ve eaten this trip. What really made this tour stand out for us was our guide Fifi (sorry if I have spelt her name wrong). She was wonderful. She was incredibly friendly, funny and knowledgable. She provided everything you’d expect from a professional guide but made us feel so welcome it felt like we were hanging out with a friend for the day. Thank you Fifi!

This panda volunteering experience was truly unforgettable and easily one of the highlights of our trip. From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well organized, meaningful, and deeply rewarding. Being so close to the pandas and learning about their care, conservation, and daily routines was both humbling and incredibly inspiring. A very special mention goes to our guide, Keira. She was absolutely fantastic - warm, cheerful, and genuinely passionate about what she does. From the very first moment, she made us feel comfortable, welcomed, and excited for the day ahead. Her positive energy was contagious, her explanations were clear and engaging, and she was always attentive to everyone in the group. It truly felt like we were spending the day with a friend rather than just being guided through an activity. Keira’s kindness, enthusiasm, and professionalism made a huge difference to the overall experience. We genuinely enjoyed her company and could not have asked for a better guide. Thanks to her, the day felt not only educational, but also joyful and personal. Highly, highly recommended - especially if you’re lucky enough to have Keira as your guide. This is an experience we’ll remember for a very long time. 🐼💚

The guide Fiona was very communicative and friendly. She took the group to the best eating spots which extremely tasty. She also provided drink, including beers and some baijiu for those who wanted a taste. I would highly recommend booking this tour as you visit Chengdu since this city is known for its delicious food which you will be able to taste during this experience. You can also ask the guide for specific recommendations according to your taste.

I booked a VIP seating with local snacks. Arrived at the venue 30 minutes before the show. Redeemed my ticket at the ticket office in front of the venue after showing them the Viator ticket. No problems whatsoever, the ticket booth is clearly marked. I was seated with lots of time to spare and asked if I wanted fruit, local snacks or a picture in the costumes used for the show. I chose the local snacks which were plenty for at least 2 people to fill up so I would not recommend eating for a couple hours before if you go for this option. The show itself consisted of around 8 different performances which were divided by a host's speech about the upcoming performance so even when not speaking chinese you can understand the gist of what's going on. Generally would recommend the experience, especially if you choose the local snack option. I think the VIP option is worth it since the viewing area is flat and I imagine people in the back might not see the stage as well, although beware that the performance can be really loud at times.

Both Mount Qinsheng and the Dujiangyan irrigation system are beautiful places teeming with history of taoism and chinese engineering, respectively. I highly recommend everyone visits those spots when in Chengdu. My guide, Amber, was very helpful and friendly. Her informative explanations about the history and meaning of visited places were crucial for satisfying my interest. I would highly recommend this experience.

We had an amazing day doing this trip we were picked up from our hotel at the agreed time and taken into Chengdu to meet our guide. From there we headed off to the Panda Base where we had to queue for around 20 minutes to get in. Once inside we saw some Red Pandas first before going on and seeing 11 Giant Pandas it was an incredible experience. We were then taken to Leshan which took around 2 hours, first we stopped off at a lovely local restaurant for lunch which only cost 120 RMB. Before heading off to see the Giant Buddha which was truly amazing, we were then dropped back in Chengdu (at our request). Our guide and driver were great and we would recommend this tour.
