Authentic experience

This was such a lovely little experience! You’re driven to a small neighbourhood called La Boquilla and taken on a private ride through the mangroves. I then tried my hand at fishing and had a lovely traditional lunch on the beach. Overall, it felt like a very authentic experience and I had a great time.

Shay was wonderful and the local fishermen were helpful and very kind. It was very educational and fun we got to participate a lot. Shay was very knowledgable and happy to answer questions. It was nice to see another side of Cartagena. Her English was impeccable which was helpful for us. The food was really good and large portions. Pick up and drop off was well organized also. Overall a wonderful day. Thanks again.

Great tour! We got to see the mangrove, learn about some Boquilla culture, and get in the water to fish! Kid friendly. The only downside was there was an issue with our bus, so we had to wait a bit longer to get us back to our hotel. The hosts handled it very well, and made sure we had drinks and shade while we waited.

Excellent experience and well-organized tour. Fun for kids. To immerse ourselves in nature so close to the city was a delight. Our whole experience felt very authentic and we got a real feel for la Boquilla. I would do the lunch option unless you pack lunch because by the end of the tour you will be hungry and won't be able to find the restaurants easily without the guide.

They must see experience. From start to finish we felt so taken care of and the ambiance was amazing. So past our expectations, we started off with a canoe ride around the mangrove, followed by crab fishing, and flounder fishing then we were brought to fisherman’s Island, where we learned how to dance play the drums and see the local animals and ended with a lovely lunch. Our tour guide Jamie was incredible and her uncle was very welcoming. Would recommend to anyone in Cartagena!!

We had a fantastic experience & highly recommend this excursion. I was originally looking for a food tour & couldn’t find one to fit our budget. When I read about this, it seemed like fun plus we got a Colombian meal with it. They took us in little boats through the stunning mangroves. They told us about the different types of mangroves, showed us termite nests, & pointed out little crabs on the surface. We dropped some crab cages to catch some crabs. We learned how to cast the fishing nets. Then we went to the island where we took part of Columbian dance & drumming. We proceeded to the crab cages to see what we caught. We went back to the land where we were served a Columbian meal. Our guides were an absolute blast. They had beautiful smiles & were very knowledgeable. They taught us & laughed with us. This was completely worth it & I’m so glad we booked it.

This tour is a beautiful experience. The tour organizers are clear communicators, sending careful instructions and are responsive. We arranged for a pickup at our hotel, which is a great service they offer, and then enjoyed a brief history of the area, mangrove tour, fishing lesson, great conversation, lunch, beach time and much more. We learned so much about the ecosystem and the way the community is working hard to preserve the area for animals and residents. We are so grateful for the opportunity to meet the team and learn about their area. Definitely recommend to all.

Highly recommend this experience! Jamie offered insight into the mangroves, the community and life. Dancing, feeding tarp, learning about turtles and enjoying a delicious mojarra lunch added to the full immersion. And as a solo traveler, I felt safe throughout the booking, pickup and experience.

If there was an option for 7 stars we would give that! Jamie was such a lovely and involved guide. She showed us the other side of Cartagena. The Mangroves are wonderful and La Boquilla has by far the best beaches of the city. We had loads of laughs with Jamir and Jamie on and in the water. If you are looking for an authentic tour in Cartagena don’t miss this one!

This was a truly authentic and fun experience! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. She was very detailed with the tour. She made sure we had a good time and took care of every detail from a timely pick up to explanation of all the environmental aspects through the mangrove tour and cheering us on when we tried fishing with a net. Seemingly easy but actually very hard! The lunch was delicious and way more than we could eat. I highly recommend this experience!

This was such an amazing and beautiful sightseeing tour, we had a good lunch and had a wonderful time at the beach afterwards we got on this boat well a canoe to be exact. Omg they gave coconut water which was so refreshing.We had a tour of the mangrove, we learned a lot from this experience as well we got to see, hear and play instruments at one of the stops, which was pretty cool because it’s was those instruments that navies would use back then as well as we learn their fishing techniques which my boyfriend loved that part. One of the best part of the tour was our tour guide yeimy, she is wonderful. Like the best of the best

A wonderful tour especially thanks to the dedicated Jamie, who also speaks very good English. You learn all about the mangroves, the wildlife, fishing and the people who live there. Drumming and dancing are also part of the program. Lunch, wonderful fish, is not to be missed.
