The street food was great and focused on Columbian staple food. From breakfast Patacon, to a hearty and brothy beef stew. In addition we tried fresh fruit, a lemonade coffee (dont knock it till you try it) and some of the best bread. Bring an umbrella if you are sensitive to the heat and a water bottle.

We had a great experience with Legaxy. He was super engaging and knowledgeable and made the experience fun. The foods were tasty and the historical experience was full. There were also accommodations made for food allergies as needed. I highly recommend this tour.

Five Stars Thanks to Mercedes!

Jessica_S, Jul 2026
The tour was easy to find, even though we arrived a few minutes late. The company communicated with us beforehand about exactly where to meet, and everything was clear and well organized. The entire team was incredibly kind and welcoming. Our guide, Mercedes, was absolutely the best! Not only did she lead us through the city to enjoy a variety of delicious local bites, but she also shared the history and culture behind each place we visited. Mercedes is truly a gem. Her warm personality made us feel welcome from the moment we met her. She kept our stomachs full of amazing food while also giving us countless recommendations throughout Cartagena, from the best places to dance salsa to what to wear for different excursions. I 100% recommend taking this tour with Mercedes if you have the chance. Starting our trip with this experience was one of the best decisions we made. Felipe was also a wonderful help throughout the tour, and together they made the experience fun, informative, and memorable. Our entire group had an amazing time!

A Must Do Food Tour in Cartagena!

Danielle_J, Jul 2026
We had an amazing time on this food tour in Cartagena! Our guide, Legaxy, made the experience unforgettable. He was incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the street foods we sampled but also about the rich history and culture of the city. He shared fascinating facts at every stop, which made the tour so much more than just a food experience. Every street food we tried was good, and it was such a fun way to experience the local culture. Legaxy was friendly, engaging, and made sure everyone felt welcome throughout the tour. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cartagena. It’s the perfect combination of amazing food, local history, and a fantastic guide. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

Lots of food

Sarah_M, Jul 2026
It was ok. It came with a lot of food which was nice plus drinks to break it up. The walking part was easy. Would have been nice to hear more from the people who made the food. Not sure the price matched compared to what I paid for other things on the trip.

Must do

ramnik_u, Jul 2026
Keep in mind this is a STREET FOOD tour. Enjoyed the morning walking the Old Town and tasting different local foods. Highly recommend.

Leah_L, Jul 2026
Host Legacy was a good time he was engaging and knowledgeable. He MADE the tour, as far as the food goes be forewarned it's A LOT of bread. The fruits and soup were really good though.

Amazing walking food tour!!

DARRIANE_M, Jul 2026
Legaxy was amazing! He was a wonderful tour guide and all the things you want a tour guide to be... funny, informative, personable, friendly and cool!! You can tell he loves Columbia and enjoys teaching people about it. Food is important to culture and he explained the origins of the foods we were eating with such passion and respect. I loved that he really worked to engage with everybody and make us all feel comfortable. We had a mini medical emergency during our tour and he remained calm and supportive of the person in the emergency. If your taking a food tour come hungry, with an open mind and if Legaxy is your guide be ready to laugh and have a great time! I truly enjoyed learning about Cartegena through the food. When you come, be sure to book... you won't be disappointed!

Was a great tour! Got to learn about and try out a lot of different local food. Also doubles as a brief tour of the historical district of the walled city. Karen was great!

Come Hungry!

Young_L, Jul 2026
Legacy was a great tour guide! He had a very friendly and energetic demeanor and did a great job of hyping us up and informing us about the tastings as well as tidbits of history or folklore of Cartagena. The food was served in generous portions and by the end we were too full for comfort. Wear comfortable shoes and be ready for the weather there was a lot of walking! Would highly recommend this tour to those that are hungry and adventurous eaters.

Lots of good food/drinks and great guide Karen! Also a lot of good info about the city and the areas we walked by. 2,5 hours went by too quickly!

Adam_G, Jul 2026
Great experience. Great value. Recommend without hesitation. Liz was excited to share her vibrant city with us. Also, this your was very professionally run. There were actually two guides with us. One person ran ahead to keep everything working smoothly.

Highly recommend

Thank you Mercedes for a great tour despite the heat! We loved the local gems we discovered! My favorite one is pan de bono!

Our tour guide, Mercedes,...

Shenise_C, Jul 2026
Our tour guide, Mercedes, was very pleasant; however, her accent was quite pronounced, and she spoke rather quickly, making it challenging to understand her at times. The food tour featured a number of breaded items, and I had anticipated a slightly different selection. The most enjoyable dishes were the ceviche and chicken empanadas, which were served at the beginning and end of the tour, respectively. Oh, and the Getsemani area was supposed to be part of the tour from what I understood, it was mentioned in the description, but my family and I had to walk around and explore that on our own.

Great tour

keshina_g, Jul 2026
The tour was very good and informative , he talked about the city and we tried some amazing food. Would recommend 10/10. Hernando is the best

The worst excursion we’ve ever done, save your money.

Leonard_L, Jun 2026
Our guide, Robert, started the tour with an incredibly confusing "joke," telling us that because we ate breakfast, we were in trouble because the portions were massive and the tour was six hours long. The entire group was confused, wondering if we had booked the wrong trip. Robert completely moved on without clarifying until my wife directly asked him if the tour was actually six hours. Only then did he admit it was a joke. Unfortunately, like most of his humor throughout the day, it fell completely flat and just created awkward tension. Later on, after hyping up a piece of bland bread at a bakery as "the best in the world," he put everyone on the spot by asking us to rate it from 1 to 10. Most people politely lied and said 7–10, but I was honest and gave it a 5. His demeanor and forced interactions made the experience highly uncomfortable. We had some absolutely amazing food during our time in Colombia, but nothing on this tour would even make my top 10 list. Shrimp Ceviche: It tasted incredibly slimy. Most of the group couldn't even finish their small portions because it simply wasn't good. Patacón: It was just okay, but it was ruined by a massive, overpowering chunk of extremely salty cheese. Traditional Candies: Not my cup of tea, but admittedly not bad. The Rest: The remaining stops were completely uninspired—the culinary equivalent of taking raw burger meat out of a package and throwing it on a grill. The logistics were incredibly poorly handled. While at the bakery, a fellow tour member and I both asked to use the restroom. Robert told us we couldn't use the one there, but that we could use one at a future stop. That next stop ended up being a local grocery store for an empanada sample. Robert pointed me toward the restroom, but as I came out, I was immediately accosted and told I had to pay to use it. When I asked Robert about it, he confirmed I had to pay. It is completely unacceptable that on a paid food tour, guests are denied a free restroom at one stop only to be forced to pay out-of-pocket at the next. If paying is required, the tour company should either let guests use the free facilities at the bakery, or at the very least, cover the fee for their paying customers. Robert’s poor attitude and awkward humor, combined with the low-quality food selections chosen by this company, made this street food tour the single biggest mistake of our trip to Colombia. Avoid this tour at all costs.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Hi Dennis Deppen! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience — we genuinely appreciate all feedback, positive or critical. We're sorry the tour didn't meet your expectations. That said, we'd like to offer some context. The two other reservations who joined you that day both left 5-star reviews, highlighting Robert's work and the food — and their experience reflects the feedback we consistently receive across our 1,364 five-star reviews on Viator, which represent 98% of our total ratings. Robert is passionate about what he does and put his best effort into presenting our traditional street food in an engaging and entertaining way. Humor and storytelling are a core part of how we share Colombian culture, and while we understand it may not land the same way for everyone, his intention is always to create a warm and enjoyable atmosphere. Regarding the restroom situation: we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The Pandabono stop had no running water available that day, which is why Robert had to find an alternative. He was not aware that the restroom at the next stop required payment, and we completely understand your frustration — that should never fall on a paying guest. We'll make sure our guides are always prepared to handle this kind of situation so it doesn't happen again. Our tour is designed to showcase the authentic, popular street food of Cartagena and Colombia — the kind of food locals eat and love every day. We're proud of that, even knowing it won't be everyone's cup of tea. That is why we are explicit as possible on the tour page with the tour description and itinerary for guests to know before hand what they will try. We hope you had many other wonderful moments in Colombia, and we wish you all the best on your future travels.

Excellent service

Stephany_M, Jun 2026
I had a personal guide; her name was Yahuil( I may be spelling it wrong😅), but she was very attentive, explained the history in detailed, provided several food options from drinks to desserts, native fruits, and food. I was stuffed by the end! Incredible experience, definitely worth doing it!

A must do in Cartagena

GanPing_D, Jun 2026
Our guide was Roberto. He did an exceptional job. We had 8 stops and most of them were delicious. Roberto was very knowledgeable and funny… the rain was the only set back that day. I would recommend on rainy days, ponchos be provided. Would definitely recommend this tour and would advise you not to eat before. I was too stuffed!!! Thumbs up to nexperience and Robert.

Incredible Food Tour with an Amazing Guide!

Rochelle_S, Jun 2026
Our walking street food tour was one of the highlights of our trip! Our guide, Alvaro, was incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about sharing the culture and history behind the local food. Every stop offered something unique, and the variety was outstanding. We sampled everything from a delicious shrimp cocktail served with a plantain chip, to flavorful soup, a cheese arepa, sweet local treats, and what was described as the best bread in the world—and it definitely lived up to the hype! We also enjoyed tasting three different types of coffee and learning about their significance and preparation. The tour ended perfectly with a selection of fresh local fruits. The food was plentiful, authentic, and gave us the opportunity to try a little bit of everything. If you’re looking for a great way to experience the local culture through food, I highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Alvaro, for such a memorable experience!

Sickness

Mariane_e, Jun 2026
Food bacteria. I went straight to the hospital when I got home Diarrhea. Belly pain Was so sick after this tour Noooooooooo

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Hi Mariane, At Nexperience, we take health, safety, and food hygiene with the utmost seriousness. All our food stops strictly comply with local health regulations and hold valid sanitary certificates. After reviewing our records, we confirmed that you did not attend this tour. Unfortunately, you missed your scheduled departure, and per our booking policies, your late refund request could not be approved. It is deeply disheartening to receive a review about food poisoning from someone who did not experience the tour or consume any of the food provided. As a local business, we pride ourselves on transparency, and we find it unfair that a strict cancellation policy results in a false accusation that does not reflect our actual service. We wish you the best on your future travels.
