This was such a fun and unique excursion. Everything from visiting the market to the hands on cooking, it was well structured, fun, and I learned a lot. I guides were fun, polite and knowledge. This was a great class for beginner cooks into the Mexican cuisine.

Jorge picked us up and we traveled to a local market. It was fun to walk around as he spotted what he would purchase.
We went into a fun open air restaurant where he taught us how to make Guacamole and enchilada sauce. We made our own tortillas and cooked Sopas, quesadillas and tacoes too.
It was a fun day with yummy food.
We had a wonderful time at this Mexican cooking class. Hector was a great guide, showing us around the market and giving us time to explore while he picked up ingredients for the class.
The cooking session was relaxed and enjoyable. Most of the prep work had already been done, so we focused on putting everything together to create a delicious meal. It was a fun, easy-going experience, and we learned a lot along the way.

Jorge was an excellant teacher and chef. We learned so much selecti g peppers at the market. His chef skills were top notch. It was a joy learning from him.
Be sure to order a large marguerita. The delivery is a show stopper.
It was amazing. The vehicle from which they picked us up in to the restaurant we cooked in clean, friendly atmosphere and very accommodating. Sasha was clear and concise with his directions and enthusiasm. He included all of us and his cooking and the food was delicious. Damien was the grill guy he was there for questions and helpful directions.

Sasha was absolutely amazing and so was the food he had us prepare! We loveeeee the menu he had prepared for us, shopping locally, learning about the mexican culture through food and conversation, and just having a great time in general. Everything was delicious!!!!
I recently attended an incredible cooking class in Cancún, and it was truly one of the highlights of my trip. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The chef not only shared authentic recipes but also explained the cultural history behind each dish, which made the experience so much richer.
We prepared traditional Mexican favorites with fresh, local ingredients, and I learned techniques I’ll definitely use at home. The hands-on approach made it fun and interactive, and the chef’s passion for food was contagious.
The best part? Sitting down together at the end to enjoy the meal we had cooked—it felt like sharing dinner with family. If you’re visiting Cancún and want to immerse yourself in local culture, this cooking class is an absolute must.

We walked the market before the class with our guide/chef explaining different things to us. We shopped while he purchased the fresh ingredients for our meal. When preparing the food, our chef was eager for us to learn and know about the authentic Mexican food. Our waiter came out dancing while balancing our drinks in his head! Favorite part was making the fresh guacamole. Highly recommend!

G and Angel were great hosts. We learned a lot about the products in the open air market. Then the restaurant cooking class was hands on. It's the third time I have done this one and would do it again.
Market had good souvenir shopping, also showed our teens a more realistic (non-resort) side of Cancun. It was nice to browse and not feel accosted, prices were slightly negotiable but not like the haggling at other places. Cooking was not complicated- amateurs could learn basics and feel successful, established cooks could improve technique and try new recipes. I've made some of the dishes since returning home. Included transport was clean, safe, and convenient. Excellent family activity.

I was very excited for this excursion, unfortunately I was never picked up. I tried contacting the tour company by call and text with no luck. I waiting in the lobby for an hour before giving up.
Great experience, highly recommend to go. Chef was very nice, talked about the produce and ways to select ripest ones. Went through some history of the food in the area. Making your own food was fun, highly recommend to anyone thinking about culinary interests.

If you’re staying at a resort and looking for something fun to do, I recommend this activity. It was great to learn about the Mexican culture, exploring the market and being able to try dishes you normally wouldn’t have. It was a very fun and interactive experience. The hosts were great as well. Super knowledgeable and friendly.
I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with this Viator booking for the “Mexican Cooking Class with Local Market and Transportation” on March 26, 2026—and I never even got to attend the class.
The issue started when I accidentally selected the wrong pickup location (The Westin instead of Aloft in the hotel zone where I was staying that night). As soon as I realized my mistake around 7 PM the evening before, I immediately tried to contact the company. The only option available was a chat box, so I sent a message requesting to change the pickup location. After waiting with no response, I assumed nothing could be done.
The next morning, I reread the policy stating no changes within 24 hours, so I took responsibility and Ubered to the original pickup location (The Westin), arriving around 9:10–9:15 AM—well before the 9:30 start time. While waiting, I checked the chat again and saw that the company had responded the night before (around 9:15 PM) saying they could switch my pickup location—but by then it was too late. I was already at the original location.
At that point, everything fell apart. I tried desperately to contact the company—through the chat, and by calling, and even via WhatsApp—but received no meaningful response. The hotel I had just left (Aloft) confirmed no one had arrived for pickup. Meanwhile, staff at The Westin also said no one had come looking for guests.
Eventually, I received a vague message around 9:48 AM thanking me for my communication—but offering no help whatsoever. By then, I had clearly missed the pickup. I even tried to salvage the situation by asking for the class location so I could Uber there myself, but they provide no address for the actual class—only pickup details. So despite doing everything I could, I was completely stuck.
To make matters worse, I later found out the driver apparently showed up at the Aloft around 9:29 AM (one minute before the class start time), asked for me briefly, and left. No call. No message. No effort to actually reach me—despite me actively trying to contact them the entire time.
I paid extra for transportation, which ended up being the very reason I couldn’t attend. Had I not selected pickup, I could have simply gone to the class myself. The lack of communication from this company is unacceptable and ultimately cost me the entire experience.
Viator’s response made things even worse. They claimed they conducted an “investigation” and found me at fault—without ever asking me for any information or evidence. It felt like a complete brush-off, likely because they profit from these bookings and have no incentive to support customers when things go wrong.
Bottom line: I lost $100 on an experience I was genuinely excited about, all because of poor communication and a disorganized system. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against booking this activity. If you do, avoid the pickup option at all costs. This felt incredibly shady, and I would not trust this company again.
A great experience. What better place to learn Mexican cuisine. The walk at the market was great, the location of the cooking class was great! Overall experience was awesome! Sasha and his team really know how to you well.

Going to the market was just like being in a travel show. Chef Sash was an excellent teacher and fun to be with.
Very full day, prepare for lots of standing and walking, prepare to be hot. OTOH, prepare to learn how to make authentic Mexican food and maybe make new friends!
Sasha and Angel were fantastic! We came in from Puerto Morales and they picked us up with no issues. The market was so fun to walk through, we got some great tips about produce. And fresh tortillas off the machine are amazing. Plus there was some time to do a little shopping.
Learning how to cook some traditional dishes was fantastic and we got some tips on what could be used locally. Sasha is very engaging, obviously loves food and people. We left feeling full and happy.
