Itinerary

Start with pickup at your hotel, then travel to the Tulum archeological site, once an important post in a trading network linked cities across the Maya world and beyond.

Learn what’s known about the site on a guided tour, exploring the daily lives and beliefs of the ancient Maya people. See paintings preserved for centuries in the Temple of the Frescoes, puzzle over the mysterious figure that adorns the Temple of the Descending God, and walk along stone walls that overlook the Caribbean Sea.

Following the tour, you have free time to enjoy the area on your own: take advantage of the time to snap some photos of Tulum, swim at the nearby beach, or visit the nearby crafts market. Meet back up at the end of your time in Tulum, and board the tour vehicle for the trip back to your hotel, where your tour concludes.

Absolutely inadequate guide- had no knowledge of any kind, unfriendly, rough, totally unpleasant experience

Christine_S, Oct 2024
Our guide, José Carlos, was the most unfriendly guy I have ever met at about 30 or 35 Viator tours I had booked so far. No kind word, no explanation of the sites. He knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about anything. Gave us 3 hours (!) in Tulum where there is not so much to see, left us at the entrance after "explaining" one of the ruins ("this is a house. It had a roof") with the words: "I am here every day, I do not have to go there" and spent his time sitting in the bar where we later foumnd him with a drink. How can such a guy do tours with tourists? Unbelievable experience!

This was a great tour, our knowledgeable and personable guide, Martin made the trip both interesting and entertaining.. Tulum itself was picturesque on the Cliffside by the sea. Wear good footwear for walking for sure. Don't forget your swimsuit either! The Cenote experience was also not one to be missed. I have to say also that if you are lucky enough to get Bus 34 with Martin as your guide you won't ever forget the ride back. We all need a little music in our soul!!

If I could give this no stars I would. Horrible company to work with. We ended up paying for our own transportation, entrance fee, and tour. Don't go through them!

Dawn Z, Mar 2016
The travel time was absurd. What should have been a 45-min. ride to Tulum took about 2 hours and required a bus change. The bus went up and down the highway picking people up in an undecipherable order. The actual time at Tulum was nice. Beautiful place very much worth visiting, but next time I would take a different tour with a guide who was maybe less focused on making jokes and had more enthusiasm for explaining exactly what we were looking at. He was a really nice guy, and it's always tough to manage a large group, but I guess his style just wasn't my cup of tea. This tour was inexpensive...you get what you pay for.

Martin was a fantastic tour guide, informative and entertaining. The length of the tour is just right, you have enough time to visit the ruins and do some shopping for knick knacks, but can still be back at your hotel to relax before dinner.
