Itinerary

Tour the clifftop ruins of Tulum with a certified guide and hear live commentary on their significance. Board the air-conditioned coach en route to the former port city, the only archaeological site on the coast of Quintana Roo. Then follow on foot while your guide points out significant structures.

See El Castillo (The Castle), an impressive building overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Stroll past the Temple of Frescoes and the Palace, and learn about the ancient Maya who built the city during different periods.

After your tour, enjoy free time to look around on your own or head to the small beach below before re-boarding the coach for return transport to your hotel in Cancun or the Maya Riviera in the afternoon.

That there is a 20 dollars extra charge per person . Water should be provided at the beginning and the end of the tour. Pickup time was 8 am not 7 am as we were told plus other hotel pick ups made arrival time much later than we anticipated .

Our tour guide Jaime was great! He was very knowledgeable, sincere, but also hilarious. He found ways to connect us to the history and present of Mexico. We left the hotel at 7:30, got to Tulum and got back at 1:30. We had time to see everything there, but wanted to get back to resort for lunch, drinks, and relaxation; it was the perfect option for us.

Good trip to Tulum - unexpected entrance fee though.

The tour was good, but picked us up 30 min late (and we were the only pick up). Pepe was a good guide, but we were under the impression that all entrance fees were included in the tour price. However, Pepe informed us that we had to pay a $20 US entrance fee before getting on the bus. This should have been communicated with us beforehand but wasn’t so it came as a surprise. Also, we saw Pepe pay the equivalent of $10 at the pay booth. Not sure where the other $10 went. Other than that, Tulum is an exceptional site with great views. Well worth the trip to experience it.

Ariel was so friendly and knowledgeable about Tulum and Mayan culture. He was so patient with our 3 and 7 year old boys who did a lot of complaining because of the heat. The walking itself was pretty short. You can not access the Tulum ruin beach anymore though because of turtle nests. That was a bummer. But we took a nap on the bus on the way back which was perfect way for us to recharge back for more pool time fun!

Aron (our driver) and Ariel (our tour guide) were both exceptional, friendly and super knowledgeable. Had a really good time exploring the ancient ruins of Tulum and the town of Playa Del Carmen. Felt like we had a good amount of time at both locations.

So was interesting seeing the Tulum Ruins and we had a good driver and tour guide but overall this was a painfully long tour and day. We got picked up by “Cancun Passion” at our Cancun hotel (Intercontinental) at 6:45am (we were the first pickup)…..we then spent the next 2+ hours going to 4 other hotels to pick up other guests. After that we finally headed to Tulum and arrived at 9:50am. We were given 2-hours to tour the Tulum Ruins which were nice. We than left Tulum around 11:50am and proceeded to do drop offs at these same 4 hotels which took another 2+ hours. Finally made it back to our Cancun hotel around 2:15. So for the total 7-1/2 hours of the tour we spent 2-hours actually looking at something interesting and the other 5-1/2 hours just driving around doing hotel pickups and drop offs. I realize Cancún Passion is trying to maximize their profit by only using one van to do all the pickups throughout the Yucatán Peninsula regardless of how long that takes, but really a wasted day and costs for the little we got to see. Lots of good tours throughout the Peninsula but if spending the majority of the day trip just doing hotel pickups and drop offs is not what you are looking to pay for, then Cancun Passions is probably not the tour company for you

Tour guide was nice. Transport was on time and good. I would have liked a little more time to have a lunch. Two hours is all you need to explore the Talum ruins.

Tulum is a late Mayan period. Pepe of Cancun Paradise tours did a very good job guiding the group and conveying the Mayan story. The oceanside cliffs were sublime.

Great guide and driver, site was interesting although very crowded. Only downside was long bus ride to and from Tulum. Advertised as Express, but was an 8am to 3pm day from Iberostar Lindo. If time is important I would recommend arranging private transportation. Tour company was Cancun Passion.

Tulum is very beautiful and worth visiting and this trip is for you if you want to do a half day activity. You get a tour of the Mayan ruins and free time to explore the ruins and markets on your own. Our pick up from the hotel was on time and our tour guide Jesus and driver were very friendly and very informative. Will book again with them in the future

Not enough time..

The ruins are a beautiful sight to see once you get there. We were picked up at 7am and had to pick up other passengers. We were on a large bus for 1 hour 30 minutes. We were then transferred to a van. The ride to Tulum from that point was 1 hour 40 minutes. Total travel time was over 3 hours from pick up. The van was packed and tight. It was uncomfortable. Once we go to Tulum we went on guided tour and only had 1 hour of free time to explore. So we literally rushed through the ruins to get to the market to eat lunch. It left no time for shopping. We spent 2 hours in Tulum. Considering the amount of time spent on travel, it was not long enough. The ruins themselves were fascinating.

The history & actually seeing it in person. The knowledge of our tour guide Pepe. Being able to go off on our own to capture pictures. The only complaint is they have people dressed in there native attire asking you if you want a picture. They take the pictures then tell you its 20 per person.

Beautiful Tulum but on a van transport

The ruins of Tulum rising in the picturesque location by the Caribbean Sea is striking. Our guide Pepe was excellent in explaining the history of Tulum and the Mayan people who inhabited it. The only disappointment was that the tour transport vehicle was a van that stopped at multiple locations at Playa del Carmen to pick up its dozen passengers. This added about an hour and half to the travel time. We would have preferred a Cancun to Tulum direct without stopping in between to enhance our experience. Though as the first passengers we had a 2-seater, the rest of the passengers would not have been happy squeezing in 3-seaters. That being said, Pepe and the two drivers were professional and conducted the tour logistics very well and we appreciate their efforts.

Great trip today . This was supposed to be a group tour . But the other 2 folks were no shows and I ended up getting a private guide experience. They were on time to pick up and drop . The guide was very kind and social and was engaging through out the tour . Loved it . Definitely recommend for a half a day trip .

I’m honestly not sure why there aren’t more 5 star reviews of this tour. Everything was exceptional, from the timeliness of the pickup, the cleanliness of the van, and the overall tour itself. The highlight of all was our guide, Pepe - he was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. I learned more from him during this half-day tour than I did on a full day tour with another company. If you’re looking for an enjoyable morning-to-early afternoon excursion, this is the perfect option. And if Pepe is your your guide for the day, know you’re in the best hands.
