Mario was such a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide! We had a great day with him, showing us the ruins and teaching us the history of Chichen Itza. Then he took us to the beautiful Cenote Chukum, which was such a wonderful experience. As a group of 5 women we always felt safe with Mario, and he took care of us from beginning to end. It was great to not have to wait for a whole tour bus of people, so if you are able to book this private experience, I highly recommend it! Thanks again Mario!!!

Jeromino was our guide and was so helpful in guiding our ride in and offering perspectives on how to spend our time at each place. The time at Chichen Itza should be at least 1 hour and for full effect 2 hours. We loved the cenote and was better for us to leave at 7:30 am from Cancun to have less crowds at both places. It got so busy by the time we left we were happy to leave when we did at both places. Get some deals at Chichen Itza on gifts but Jeromino also took us to a store that was pricer but better products and accepts credit card. Thank you Jeromino!

This was well worth the money. Michael was so kind and knowledgable and very helpful. We had a 4 month old with us and he made accommodations to help make everything easier. He was also helpful in finding a lovely place to eat. We cant say enough about how great this was.

Worth the investment. Get to pick your own schedule...make sure you bring your swim suits for the second part of the day! Had Mario as our driver and he was our tour guide too for a small extra cost. When its HOT, always great to be able to move to the next event vs. waiting for the scheduled departure of the bus tour.

I was skeptical on many levels about hiring a private driver for this tour, but all the other options involved a full day plus. Having only four full days in Cancun I wanted to maximize my experience in as little time as possible. I cannot say enough about our driver, David and our guide Fernando. When calling to confirm our driver, I asked if they had a guide who could help us. Little did I know the man they booked for us would be such an experienced, kind man with such an AMAZING amount of information. I had my daughter in law and two grown sons with us and for them to voice such a positive appreciation to me says it all. Fernando, if you can get, will NOT disappoint. This man has not only done his research, he literally has lived the experience personally through his family. One of the BEST guides EVER in any city in the world. Standing ovation to you, Fernando!
David was kind and considerate, having cold drinks in the cooler and making a pit stop for us halfway to Chichen Itza. The lunch experience was conducted professionally and the food was very good. Buyer beware - drinks are NOT included in the cost. A second standing ovation to you, DAVID! Thank you for making the day so pleasant for us!
HIGHLY recommended day trip from Cancun to Chicen Itza, plus you don't have to deal with groups of people on a bigger bus.

My family of 5 was treated to fabulous day in Chichen Itza a few weeks ago. Our driver, Ariel, was most informative, both as we journeyed to Chichen Itza, and while we visited the ruins there. Much of the information he shared, was later corroborated when I viewed a YouTube video on Chichen Itza. Ariel greatly contributed to my knowledge of and appreciation for the Mayan culture. This trip was the highlight of our visit to Cancun!

Absolutely fantastic tour, Micshel our driver was a mind of information about the Mayans and the area in general. Booked with Viator many times now, all have been great tours, but this tour of Chichen Itza was up there with the best. Great air conditioned transport, a mini bus to ourselves Just me and my wife On time being picked up, we were taken straight to the front of a very long queue by Mischel on arriving at Chichen Itza, had as long as we wanted there and then a nice drive back to Cancun chatting to Mischel about Mexico and the best places to visit whilst we were there. Not going to bang on about Chechen Itza, it speaks for its self, Amazing place. Brilliant tour, thank you Viator.

Very cool to see the ancient Mayan ruins up close! It's hot so bring an umbrella or hat but completely worth it. I wish I'd read up a bit before I went to get the most out of it. And after you have to go swimming at the Canote. That's a must. Breathtaking. So bring your swimsuit and a towel. You can rent lockers, life vests and towels if you want. Oh, and everything takes cash, and tips. Be prepared so you don't have to go to an ATM every minute. There is a buffet restaurant at the Canote swimming hole which is ok, but if you're famished, it's fantastic. My driver was great and having a private ride was much better than waiting on the busses. A splurge, but worth it!

My wife and I had an excellent experience. Jorge was our driver and was very professional and spoke great English. The van was newer and very clean with great AC It is worth the price for a private ride to and from chichen itza. You leave when you want and stop anytime you need.

The private tour of Chichen Itza was the highlight of my family's trip to Mexico. Our driver, David and guide, Hugo arrived at our resort early and were waiting for us to start our day. Hugo was knowledgeable, friendly and very easy going with our family of four. Without him, I'm certain we wouldn't have covered as much ground as we did. Chichen Itza is one of those sites you'll want to visit every chance you get as you're certain to uncover something new each time.
After our tour, we were offered refreshments on the drive to the Cenote. There, we had a buffet lunch which we washed down with agua frescas. It gave us just enough energy to take a dip in the cool water of the sinkhole. A wonderful experience overall!

Driver, Manuel, was great. Very polite and courteous. Its a long drive from Cancun and almost nothing to see on the way, but Chichen Itza is very nice. Worth the trip. Go early, its very hot by noon. Cenote was the highlight. Bring pesos as the dollar rate is very poor. The buffet lunch was terrible. They cram you in a room with hundreds of people. You can't get more than 1 serving because the lines are so long. If you don't have pesos, the dollar equivalent cost is 30USD per person.

We had to switch our hotel because it was overbooked. We contacted Viator about the change two days before our trip and they confirmed they had the change. We contacted them again a day before the trip. The morning of the trip, there was no vehicle to pick us up. We ended up calling then 3 times that morning of the trip to find out the driver went to our original hotel. There needs to be better communication between Viator and the drivers.
Our driver was very pleasant and definitely helped us getting tickets to get into Chichen Itza and the Cenote. We very much appreciated his help. The vehicle was clean and comfortable.

Excellent service. Our driver was professional and helpful. We also like the flexibility of the tour. We did not want to see a village as suggested by the agency so we wanted to see Ek Balam instead and the driver took us there. Of course, we bought our own ticket entrance since this was not in the original plan but it was okay. We really enjoyed the trip and the service.

Excellent tour. Our driver was Victor. He was 20 minutes early for us! That was unfortunate for him because we are not an early family lol! But all in all he was helpful, a safe driver, knowledgable and was extremely pleasant to be around. He recommended a guide for us, and the guide - Guillermo was waiting when we arrived. He was prompt in getting tickets etc and from Chichen Itza to the Cenote. Unfortunately due to our time constraints we did not get to spend as long as we would have liked at the Cenote.
It was lovely to learn about Mayan culture, and the guide was exceptional. The weather was extremely hot, and the less clothes you wear, the better, but load up on sunscreen or you will get burnt! Hats can be purchased as you arrive for about 5 USD before you go in to the venue itself.
Just to be clear, what's included in the package I took: 7 persons, 114 USD per person - tickets to Chichen Itza and the Cenote, buffet lunch nothing special, personalized tour times - decide your own start point and end point, as well as transportation to and from the site.
Will highly recommend this tour.
For the Mexican government or whoever is in charge of running Chichen Itza, please please reduce the number of vendors you have lining the walkways around your beautiful ruins. They are cumbersome and definitely take away from the experience.

There were 9 of us on a tour to Chichen Itza and we all enjoyed it immensely. Upon arriving to our resort I spoke of them hiring a tour guide, who they had hired and was waiting when we arrived. The driver also stopped at 3 places we wanted along the way. After the tour we went for lunch at an air conditioned buffet that served very good food and was most welcome on a hot day in May. I do believe it was less expensive than other tour groups and it cut off probably 3 hours of the ride with a personal van.

We loved our day trip to Chichen Itza and Cenote. Loredo was our local guide. He gave us the perfect balance of interesting facts and stories and never rushed us on our own. He offered lots of information about the Yucatan and was so happy to have us for the day. He stated himself He LOVES his Job! and you can tell he does. I recommend the private tour, so much more time efficient and relaxing than all the buses we saw.
