During your time in Mexico, ensure you experience the white sands and turquoise waters of Isla Mujeres. This catamaran adventure has multiple options to choose from. If you’ve booked an option with hotel transfers, board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for the marina. If not, you’ll meet your catamaran there.
Premium travelers will board a 30-capacity catamaran with an international open bar and boxed lunches provided. Other travelers will pay their dock fee then set sail on a 50-person catamaran, where the free-flow drinks are all Mexican.
Set sail for Isla Mujeres, a tropical island famed for the quality of its beaches and the diversity of its marine life.
Your first stop is a protected coral reef, where you drop anchor, don snorkeling equipment, and plunge into the crystal waters of the Caribbean Sea. Follow your guide to pockets replete with tropical fish and marvel as dispersed fish food attracts swarming schools.
Next, proceed to the beach. Depending on the option you’ve selected, you’ll feast on a buffet lunch at a beach club or enjoy free time to explore independently.

This excursion was an absolute blast! The boat ride to the island was smooth sailing and the crew was awesome! We got to rent golf carts and had some time to explore the island. Then we got to shop downtown, followed by a short boat ride over to the beach club for drinks and lunch. Definitely recommend this trip!!

The whole experience was beautiful and fun. Snorkeling was an amazing opportunity, but at first it did feel a little crowded in the water and we weren’t totally sure what to do. A bit more instruction would’ve helped. Also, make sure to tighten your life vest before jumping in — mine was loose since we were rushing, and it rubbed my arm pretty badly.
After snorkeling, we headed to Isla Mujeres, which was definitely one of the best parts of the tour. Renting a golf cart (which is an extra cost) was totally worth it — it allowed us to explore much more of the island and really enjoy how beautiful it is.
The buffet at the beach club was great, and the whole crew on the catamaran was amazing! They were fun, energetic, and played great music the whole way. My only suggestion would be to offer more non-alcoholic drink options on the boat, as it felt mostly catered toward those drinking alcohol.
Overall, it was an awesome experience and we had a wonderful time! Would definitely recommend this tour.

We opted for the "premium" experience so that we could be picked up at our resort. Once at the dock, they charged us an extra 20 dollars for the transfer, even though I kept telling them that it was included in what I had paid. They also tried to charge an extra 100 dollars for dock fees, but I refused, as this was also included in what I had paid.
When we stopped to snorkel, we only got to be in the water for about 15 minutes. Once back on board, we were given a bag with a "chicken burrito" in it. This was a slice of deli chicken and some lettuce on a soggy flour tortilla. Also in the bag was a small apple. Compare this to the lunch we were promised: "a ham and cheese baguette, salad with lettuce and carrot, fusilli pasta with white cream, pepper and parmesan cheese plus crackers".
When we got to Isla Mujeres, we went to the beach club, where we could enjoy "open bar". This turned out to be one hour of beer, rum punch (watered down koolaid), or margaritas (these were awful) for 5 dollars per person.
After 2 hours at the beach club, the tour info said there would be another 2 hours to explore the island. This was not offered, and we were told to return to the boat for the return to Cancun.
Overall, this trip was not anywhere near what we paid for it.

Ages were varied. Lots of fun! The water is choppy for the rope to see the underground in the water so make sure all fits (I lost a fin), but all was good!

Tour was very good. We did the premium full experience and would highly recommend the extra we had less than 20 people on the boat. All had access to shade and a seat. Some boats we went past had 50+ people all crammed sitting on the sides and roof all exposed to direct sun light.
The provided snorkel equipment and was a very informative guided snorkel

The experience and the staff were the best! From the on time pick up to the entire boat day was wonderful. The staff were fun and friendly. We did pay for the premium experience so there were only about 14 people on our boat. The golf cart rentals on Isla was so much fun! Hugely recommended!!

The experience at the Catamar was outstanding and wonderful but the experience once we got to the buffet was horrible , one of the we waiters was so rude to an American guest because he didn’t have any cash to tip . I had to intervene. I give the American guest 3 dollars I felt so bad and the waiter screamed at me telling me that that wasn’t my business.he was also very rude to us so we left. We went to at least 3 places there and the service was horrible . Never coming back to isla mujeres. The catamaran service and atmosphere was amazing.

I didn't give a score too low because the guys on the boat were very nice and served us plenty of drinks in a happy and fun atmosphere. BUT... read the smallprints, as in our case sadly the snorkeling activity was cancelled due to waters being not clear and there's no compensation for that. If you come from Playa del Carmen as we did, you'll be presented with an extra bill you'll have to pay on the spot. The "lunch" on board is a meager ham and salad sandwich (no sauce, very dry), and when we asked if they had a vegetarian option for my bf they replied "of course it's vegetarian".
If I could go back in time, I'd book transportations to the Isla de Mujeres (there's very cheap boats going there) separately, and then check on the island if any of the stalls there offers snorkeling. This way you're safe in case of bad weather. The island will require a cart to be explored in its entirety, take in account that comes at a price (something like $60 per hour). Otherwise, enjoy the island, it's very pretty and food is great there!

Told it was a tour of 50 people max. There was at least 80-90. Picked up at hotel on time that was good, journey was air conditioned and pleasant. Got to the check in, it was a wooden shack filled with hundreds of people in slow moving queues with no aircon. Woman from the tour came up to me to tell me 'oh you should pay 60 usd to upgrade to the boat with only 25 people yours is busy busy 80 people on it" I didn't do this and contacted the tour operator annoyed I had been miss sold but they have done nothing about it. Spent over an hour in this 'shack' in unbearable heat told constantly oh 10 minutes 10 minutes until boarding. Finally got on and there weren't enough inside seats for people so many of us were out on the deck in roasting heat which we just had to run with. Staff were lovely, can't fault them. Places we docked also lovely. But I don't recommend booking with this operator they are falsely advertising the tour.

Accidentally booked while I was checking for the best rating of tours to Isla Marnie’s…did not receive any information from them so I was not aware that it was booked until I saw the changes on my card and called to inquire… I explained and attempt to cancel because I had booked the same tour with someone else… they refused to refund me so I ended up getting charge for the trip and couldn’t even attend… mistakes happens we are human… I guess I expected a bit more from their customer service and management team… at least the option for credit to do the tour in the future after all it was a booking for 5.

Terrible. Not fun. The tour guide was rude, not really too nice. Other people was complaining of this as well, he was rushing the people during snorkeling. The island is not worth it. Crowed is ever. Entirely toooo much going on to even have a good time. All that traveling/boat time to only be on the beach for 3 hours with ended up working out anyways because i was so over it. Hated it.

Catamaran experience was good, with aquaworld, snorkeling was terrible super rushed a lot of groups in the water, guides screaming trying to keep his people together,looks like a horror movie with piranhas on the loose, we had 2h free time and we enjoyed our time in Punta Norte beach wich was amazing, but instead of arranged food in the most beautiful beach in isla mujeres Punta Norte Beach and just stay there, the lunch was at this beach club which the beach had a lot of brown algae or seawed and was impossible to swim only a little space to be, ankle deep the water.. with clear sand.. and everyone was there. I even got an allergy reaction for those plants. It was super uncomfortable.
The crowd in the aquamaran was very cheerful and nice.

I booked my tour for the last day I would be in playa del Carmen . I booked for 4 adults my teenagers, my boyfriend ,and I . They told me they would not pick me up at my lobby that I would have to walk all the way down to outside of security to my resort okay fine but when the driver picks us up he says under my name he only has a party of two people not 4 and one of us is going to have to ride 45 mins to Cancun on a metal stool or I could stay and get a refund .. when we got to the boat dock aqua world the boat company had my information correct 4 adults so idk who messed up they could of corrected the mistake but on our way back to the hotel the guy said we had to sit how we were in the morning I was so pissed because I paid for transportation!!! They refused a refund ! our driver felt so bad he said amigo tours does this all the time and he has to deal with it . Drinks on the boat are gross .. snorkeling is like 15 mins max ..the food at the beach club plain no flavor ..

As a travel agent, this experience was definitely a 4 star. Being, I paid for my family to receive a “Premium Full Experience” for all inclusive as stated on the description.
Once we were picked up from the hotel, arrive to the dock we were told to pay a ‘Transportation Fee’ which was already paid for via Viator. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after speaking with one, he stated he doesn’t see my reservation with the fee included.
After personally calling “Amigo Tours” to then call this boat dock, to inform them the transportation fee was paid for was a total inconvenience after the supervisor went back and forth with me after I had given him 2 forms of proof, validating this already being paid.
Viator, Amigo Tours and this third party needs to communicate with one another to avoid this front happening again to someone else.
