Poor Communication & Operations

I booked this shuttle through Viator one month in advance, with a scheduled pickup time of 6:00am. At 6:00am, no shuttle arrived. I contacted the operator and was told: a.) they would call me back, b.) the shuttle was delayed by 30 minutes, and c.) they would follow up. At 6:30am, there was still no shuttle and no call. I called again and was told the shuttle would be delayed by another 20 minutes. At 6:50am, once again there was no shuttle and no update. After calling for the third time, I was told it would be delayed by another 7 minutes. At 6:58am, I finally received a call stating that the shuttle had arrived across the street from the Delta Hotel, which turned out to be a miscommunication, the shuttle was actually waiting in front of the hotel. The outside temperature was –18°C, and we were fortunate that the hotel allowed us to stay inside while waiting. Upon boarding, the driver informed us that he was from a third-party contractor and that he had only been contacted that same morning at 5:45am regarding our transfer, along with additional stops. He explained that he had to get up, collect the vehicle, and then head to our pickup location, which clearly explains the significant delay. Because of this delay, we missed a pre-booked tour in Canmore costing $620 CAD, which was non-refundable. This tour was the entire reason we flew to Calgary and booked this shuttle for such an early pickup time. Had we been informed in advance that the shuttle would be delayed by nearly one hour, we would have made different arrangements or reconsidered the trip altogether. This experience was extremely disappointing and reflects serious operational and communication failures. I hope steps are taken to ensure no other travelers are impacted in the same way.

We do sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations and we would definitely do better. Weather, traffic and road conditions affect times and schedules a lot and we do apologize for the delay. We highly advise travelers to add extra hours when traveling during winter season. Rest assured, we will do our best to keep up while staying safe for everyone.
