This was the best food tour we have ever been on! It was clear that Magy is very passionate about introducing you to an amazing variety of Egyptian cooking flavors. Make sure you pace yourself early in the tour with small portions because there is so much delicious food to try. It’s apparent that she has put a lot of time and effort to make an unforgettable experience.

Our food tour in Cairo...

Jeroen_V, May 2026
Our food tour in Cairo was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. We got to try an incredible variety of Egyptian food far beyond what we ever would have discovered on our own. Every stop felt authentic and thoughtfully chosen, from tiny local spots to busy street vendors full of energy and amazing smells. The amount of food was unbelievably generous, and every dish had its own story and flavor. We tried everything from freshly baked bread and savory street food to traditional desserts and drinks, and each one was delicious in a completely different way. It felt less like a tour and more like being shown around the city by a local friend who genuinely loves food and culture. If you love food and want to experience the real side of Cairo, this tour is an absolute must-do. Come hungry, you’ll taste far more than you expect, and every bite is worth it.

Wonderful memories in Cairo!

Amal was an outstanding guide and truly made our Cairo food tour one of the highlights of the entire trip. She is knowledgeable, personable, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about sharing Egyptian food and culture. As she took us around Cairo, she explained the history behind different foods, drinks, desserts, spices, and local traditions in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. This is not a small sampling tour, so come hungry! Amal makes sure you are well fed and absolutely gives you your money’s worth. She does not skimp at all. I did the 50-tasting tour, and you really do taste 50 different items. Amal paced the tour well, explained each stop, and made the experience feel fun rather than overwhelming. What I appreciated most was Amal’s warmth and professionalism. She asked about our tastes, took her time explaining flavors and ingredients, and never made us feel pressured to try anything we were unsure about. She was patient, flexible, and thoughtful throughout the entire experience. My younger sister decided not to attend, and Amal was even willing to conduct the tour on another day, which says a lot about her kindness and dedication. Because of Amal, we were able to visit restaurants, bakeries, juice stands, and local markets we never would have discovered on our own. Honestly, it was the best food I had during my entire trip. The mango juice was excellent, the bakeries were beautiful, and the pastries were absolutely worth the calories. She also took us to an authentic local market where we picked up peaches and olives to taste. Amal is not just a guide; she is a wonderful storyteller and host. She shared what daily life is like for a typical Egyptian, answered our questions, kept the conversation flowing, and made us laugh throughout the tour. I took this tour the day before flying home, and it was the perfect way to end my trip — exploring, learning, eating, and enjoying great company. I would absolutely book with Amal again. She is skilled, gracious, and excellent at what she does. This is a food tour everyone should experience.

The listing was not exaggerating about 40+ types of food! Come hungry! Out amazing guide led us through a couple more local areas of Cairo, which we definitely would not have explored solo. We tried examples of breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods along with assorted street foods, drinks, and desserts. Along the way, our guide taught us about the historical and cultural significance of the foods. I would absolutely take this tour again.

This is it! This is the food tour to join!

This was a one of a kind experience. We enjoyed going to the non touristy side of Cairo and getting to experience all the different local foods. We were a little rushed due to the restrictions for electricity but I would highly recommend this tour.

Lively and authentic street food tour with honest local guide

BrandonBarton_B, Mar 2026
See what I already wrote above, I just wrote a long positive paragraph about the experience but I am asked to write more, I will not repeat

Truly local, wonderful experience with great food and company!

Diego_B, Mar 2026
We booked this tour last minute and we were so glad we did. We visited during Ramadan so it was extra special to experience breaking fast with the local community. From beginning to end, our tour guide, Mila, went above and beyond to make this a very memorable experience. She took great care of our group, guiding us through different local restaurants and teaching us about Egyptian cuisine (savory and sweet) and cultural norms. We felt like Mila was a life long friend. I highly recommend booking this tour for a true local experience.

The food tour was absolutely amazing. We went on the tour during Ramadan and our guide started the tour by taking us to a local restaurant to take part in iftar (breakfast, but at night) - a great and very authentic start to the tour. Our guide Maegy was exceptionally knowledgeable about the local food scene and both the food and the experience in general was really great and has my warmest recommendations.

Very good. The guide did a great job of introducing us to Egyptian food. Would highly recommend. Great way to enjoy the culture.

Highly recommend on first night

Learn about what you are eating, how to eat it and where to buy it on your Egypt visit. Our guide Maggy was lovely and helpful. We enjoyed meeting other couples on the tour from other countries. Walking is over rough ground so wear walking shoes. The food was amazing, varied and way more than we could eat. We really enjoyed the whole experience.

There is a lot of delicious food to try. Make sure you're super hungry and only have a little of each thing.

Fabulous experience

This was one of the better experiences we had in Egypt, being able to learn about the different local foods and getting to explore a non touristy neighbourhood with a local. Our guide Magda was very friendly and made the experience even better. She patiently waited for us as we were a little late, answered all our questions, and made sure we were able to try everything that caught our eyes. Definitely come hungry for the tour.

An excellent food tour...

Michael_K, Nov 2025
An excellent food tour with the dearest of guides - Maggie. We were a group of 7 on the night which was the perfect size. The tour begins with a trip in the back of an old van across one of the most incredible old tunnel like bridges straight to the heart of the Imbaba district. It felt like another world compared to downtown Cairo. Maggie weaved us in and out of crowds and food joints effortlessly. She was a wonderful host for the 3 hour tour in which we sampled what seemed like an endless amount of foods. We had a wonderful time.

Great time

Rebecca_L, Nov 2025
Lots of walking and eating. Come very hungry. The food is excellent and so nice to experience the culture.

10/10 tour

Emily_S, Oct 2025
Absolutely incredible! Our guide was very insightful, sharing her experiences and differences in culture of egypt. The food was amazing! I am still so full one day later. Cannot recommend this tour enough. I also appreciate having a female guide as I felt she was more down to earth and experienced.

Food was good. Guide was okay.

Louise_F, Oct 2025
Food was great. Loved experiencing the non-touristy part of Giza. Our guide is what affected my rating. Some times I couldn’t tell if she was annoyed at us (or the other traveler who accompanied us) or if she liked us. Felt like she judged everything we said or what the other traveler said so I kept quiet. If you can get past that then this tour is for you because the food was a great introduction to Egyptian food.

Great experience to see a bit more local (non touristy) Cairo experience. But the best was our guide, Amal, she made the experience special. She has enormous pride in the culture she was sharing with us through food. One of the best people we met during our entire trip!

Absolutely incredible food and culture experience with Becky!

Alec_J, Oct 2025
Becky was an amazing guide, she was not only knowledgeable about every dish we tried but also deeply insightful about the culture and neighborhoods we walked through. You could tell she had a genuine passion for sharing both the food and the stories behind it, which made the tour so much more meaningful. Definitely come hungry, because you’ll get your fill and then some! Every stop offered generous portions, and the food just kept getting better. Make sure to save space for the end, the meats were absolutely phenomenal, and you’ll want to try everything that’s offered. What really stood out was how immersive the experience felt. Walking through the local areas of Cairo gave us such a cool glimpse into everyday life, from street vendors to families going about their routines, while Becky shared fascinating little nuggets of history and context that explained why certain traditions or foods exist the way they do. She was incredibly accommodating throughout, happy to answer any questions (food-related or not), and her knowledge of Egypt in general was impressive. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cairo, friends, family, anyone. It’s the perfect blend of food, culture, and genuine connection to the city.

Worth it!

JoseRafael_P, Oct 2025
Love it! The food and the places felt truly authentic. Our guide Amal was very friendly and open to answer all our questions. Would repeat the tour if I comeback to Cairo!

A guide makes or breaks a tour. Could have been better.

Jeannie_G, Oct 2025
Thankfully we had a good group of seven travelers on this tour because we didn’t have a good experience with our guide. She started off with a lecture in the bus about people who stay with n 5 star hotels. We told her we had paid $30 for our hotel in Giza, but one of the guys was staying in a no e hotel and he was offended. The food was mainly carbs and it would have been nice to get an overview of the food because by the time we got to the main meal with meat everyone was full. The guide seemed agitated the whole time and anxious. The trip stated that is ends at the same location back at n central Cairo, but when I asked about this she got upset and said I need you to just tell me if you want me to get a ride for you. We ended up just getting an uber as everyone else did as well. This experience would have been a little t better with a pleasant guide, a kind demeanor is necessary when working with people!

Definitely recommend!

Samantha_B, Oct 2025
Wow! This was phenomenal. Miwa was an amazing guide, such an array of fun and delicious food. Truly saw a side to Egypt we hadn’t seen before.

Best Food Tour Ever

Evan_R, Sep 2025
Truly the best street food tour we have ever been on! A cannot miss, authentic experience in a very local neighborhood. Our guide, Maggie was so kind and generous, and was beyond passionate sharing her local cuisine and culture throughout the night. Wonderful experience overall! If you are in Cairo, do not miss this tour.

Best Food Tour!

QueenCythea_B, Sep 2025
It is a very great experience to try what the locals eat. Amal was very careful with us. She let us experienced authentic egyptian food. You can ask her anything. She’s very versatile because when the pizza place was very busy, she assessed that we better go to another place. She also had a lot of stories to tell about Egypt so it is not awkward at all. Thank you, Amal!
