Justin a LocVelo was so welcoming and set us up with great bikes and route towards Omaha Beach. He also recommended a beautiful chateau for lunch. A true hidden gem! Amazing countryside- planning another trip.

Pascal and Justin are absolute legends! Not only did they walk me through the whole tour process and how to operate the bikes (bless them for their patience), but they made the entire experience unforgettable. I’ve been in Europe for two weeks doing all the touristy things—but this one takes the croissant. Easily the most memorable adventure and I burned enough calories to justify another gelato.

Battery died at 50km

Setting up a reservation and picking up the ebike was a snap. I chose the 55km Omaha Beach and American cemetery route. It began raining early afternoon and I was prepared for that. The scenery was beautiful and the cemetery was a very moving experience. Now the bad news. I was told the bike could 134km on one charge but the battery died at 50km. I was careful to shut off the bike at every stop and after 62km the app still wanted to take me around Bayeux. I never changed the level of assist but dealt with strong headwinds both directions. There's no throttle so I couldn't waste battery that way. Pedaling a dead electric bike is no fun. My old ass was whipped.

Regarding the battery: the autonomy depends entirely on how the bike is used — the choice between the 4 assistance modes, the way gears are shifted, and also external factors like wind and terrain. This is something we always take the time to explain to each cyclist before departure. With the Bosch motors and 500Wh batteries we use, it is absolutely possible to ride well over 100 km in a day on a full charge when assistance levels and gears are managed correctly. There was a lack of communication between Viator and the Velo rental. They didn’t have my reservation. Fortunately, they had two electric bikes available.

Scenic and historic easy to peddle bicycle ride.

We selected Juno beach as our bicycle route. The route was all I hoped it would be. The scenery was beautiful, the small towns, churches and farms made for a wonderful view. And that wasn’t all. Then there was all the historic stuff about D-Day landing.

Locvolo and Justin were so helpful! Our bikes came equipped with helmet, saddle bag, lock and pump, phone holder with GPS routes pre-programmed. Justin was very good at explaining all the ins and outs of riding an e-bike and even suggested a great cafe on the route. Can't rave enough about the service and Justin!!!

Wonderful day in the Normandy countryside and along the coast.

Loved seeing the Normandy countryside up close and at our own pace on the way to D-Day beaches. We were equipped so well with a battery pack in case our phone lost battery, a wet back to carry our belongings and very thorough instructions before we ventured put on our own. It was a wonderful day!

The GPS on the app that was installed on my iPhone kept skipping to a different route. We ended up in Subles- no where near the D-Day beaches. It was a disaster from the moment we left the shop. I recommend it for folks that are not buffering using data from another country. By the time our phone caught up with where we were supposed to be we would have to back track because we missed a turn. In the end we backtracked to the shop, found it closed. We left the bikes locked up outside and called it a day. A total bust.

We had booked the bike ride tour and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately my wife injured her ankle Friday evening. The booking stated it could be cancelled on the 29th which was the following day, so I tried to cancel but was told no it has to be 24hrs before, this was something that was not on the booking conformation, they were not very understanding of the situation, and basically told me to leave my wife that had an injured ankle and carry on with the bike ride even though I had explained to them it was something she wanted to do. Very unprofessional and rude I strongly recommend not pre-booking they will change and make up the terms and conditions to suit them.

You are simply a liar and dishonest, our general rental conditions are the same for all customers on Viator / Trip advisor, you took the place of other customers, the bikes were prepared for you and you sent us an email to 2 a.m. for a 9 a.m. departure!!! You didn't come to the store, didn't make a phone call, what courage!!! Maybe because you lied? It was not possible to cancel as stipulated in the Trip Advisor conditions, and put this on your wife's back... shameful! -------------- Vous êtes simplement un menteur et malhonnête, nos conditions générales de location sont les mêmes pour tous les clients sur Viator / Trip advisor, vous avez pris la place d'autres clients, les vélos étaient préparés pour vous et vous nous avez envoyé un mail à 2 heures du matin pour un départ à 9 heures !!! Vous n'êtes pas venu à la boutique, n'avez pas passé un appel téléphonique, quel courage !!! Peut être parce que vous avez menti ? Il n’était pas possible d'annuler comme stipulé dans les conditions Trip Advisor, et remettre cela sur le dos de votre femme ... honteux !

This was so much fun! We rode to Omaha beach and memorial and back. It was total 35 miles. My mom 72 rode as well, she’s pretty fit and managed. My 18 yr old sons bike died last mile home. He’s about 150lbs so was surprised his died. Mine was at 3bars upon return . My 11yr at old rode too

Need to be staying in Normandy!

We did not actually get to do this activity. I gave it 5 stars because the tour operator at LocVelo was amazing. We arrived from Paris (3 hour drive) and the biking was not possible to do coming from and having to return to Paris. This part was not clear to us in the reviews. To do this activity you MUST be staying in or near Normandy for at least 2 days. It’s very expensive to get from Paris to Normandy. Train is €200 each person and you are at the disposal of the train schedule which had some interruptions due to labor shortages. To rent a driver ran from €1200 to €2200 for 8-12 hours. I would love to go back and do this activity and support LovVelo e-bikes tour operator.

I’m giving this a 4-star because we made it back alive. We are +60 yr old women with a relatively active lifestyle but no electric bike experience. I read on the Viator ad that we could ride to Omaha beach and back. In fact it made it seem that the distance was short… what were we thinking. We met Pasquale and Jean Michel(?) who got us set up with the bikes and maps and showed us the various routes. They had us download Komoot to help navigate. Word of advice download it before you get there and make sure it’s working. The bikes come with repair accessories, a side basket, front basket to slot in map and a smartphone holder with a charger A few of issues. 1/The smartphone charger they provided had no cord which sucked because even though I had brought mine, the plug somehow broke and my phone died on the ride back. 2/There was no waiver to sign, but he did make sure the bikes were charged and fit us 3/Komoot didn’t work so we had to rely on Google which means we may have taken a longer route 4/The bike route to Omaha was not clearly marked by so we rode a good deal of the way on the roads, which was fine since the drivers were very considerate There are some very steep hills both on the bike path ( once you find it) and in the village Bessin en Port However, there are some wonderful things too. The ride is amazing as you can really see the countryside and reflect on the history of WWII and how soldiers made their way through it. And somehow riding up to Omaha Beach Memorial made the ride worthwhile. The ride back was mostly on the bike path and there were 2 very steep hills. 35 plus kilometers later we dropped off the bikes relied and happy Lastly, Please just mark the bike routes better

Renting these bikes turned out to be the best day of our 10 day trip across France. I was traveling with my niece and sister. Justin was so wonderful and easy to communicate with. He had the bikes waiting for us at our hotel in Bayeux. He also gave us tips on where to go and it felt like we had a friend in Bayeux, even though we never officially met! We took the bikes out one afternoon and rode from Bayeux to Arronmaches. My sister and I hadn't ridden bikes in years so this is definitely something you can do with any skill level. The bikes were comfortable and easy to operate. And the electric boost you can give yourself going up hills feels like cheating for sure! Once we got out of Bayeux there were designated bike paths most of the way and it was a pretty easy, straight shot. It was so cool riding along the poppy fields and when we got close to the ocean we could feel the wind on our faces well before we saw it. When we got to Arromanches we got ice cream and sat on the wall overlooking the ocean and enjoyed our well-earned reward. The memories of that day will be etched in my mind forever. I can't recommend this experience highly enough.
