Receive a morning pickup from your Barcelona hotel, after which you transfer to the Saline Valley near Cardona, an important location occupied by humans since the Neolithic era.

Explore the Salt Mountain Cultural Park that occupies the Saline Valley today, learning about the salt mine that operated in the area between 1929 and 1990. Take a look at the on-site museum, providing a look at the Catalonian salt-mining industry, and then get a glimpse inside one of the salt mine’s tunnels, traveling 280 feet (86 meters) below ground to marvel at the stalactites, stalagmites, folds, and seams that line the walls of the shaft.

Continue from Salt Mountain Cultural Park to Cardona, and enjoy a walking tour of this historic medieval city. Check out Cardona’s unique collection of romanesque and gothic buildings, and marvel at the Castle of Cardona, an imposing defensive structure which has held more than its fair share of invading armies at bay.
