What a beautiful experience. Marcelo is amazing at what he does. He was punctual, kind, informative and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend doing this tour with him.. we had a lovely day. It’s the perfect time of day for this tour as we were there before the crowds arrived.

Marcelo was an outstanding tour guide. He provided information in detail on the train ride to Monserrat about the locals living in the country. Additionally, he guided us through tour provided very detailed information about the monastery and the Black Madonna. Once the best tours we have experienced.

A terrible tour starts out as “TRAIN JOURNEY”
Yes a train ride on a public trine with 16++ stops to Monserrat. Very dirty and crowded with limited sitting. Had to stand on the public train and sit away from my family. Viatour should not mislead customers and fully inform them of this public train ride .

Great tour and everything ran super smoothly, from the ease of the meeting location to moving from one transportation form to the next. We had time to visit the Black Madonna and the Basilica. We didn’t opt for the mass as we wanted to take the St Joan Funicular but we still had time to do the liquor tasting as well as some local cheeses before heading back down on the cog train.
Our tour guide Monica was great. Super friendly and very knowledgeable. Made sure everyone knew where we were going and was passionate about making sure we were getting what we wanted out of our tour and sharing the history of Montserrat.

From the moment we met Monica at our meeting spot she guided us expertly through all legs of the journey and made great suggestions to optimize our experience. Taking the cable car up and the cogwheel train down provided us with stunning views on both sides of the mountain. Monica was fabulous! She contacted us prior to the tour to give specifics about meeting & expectations. She was on-time & took an interest in learning the names and a bit of information about all 14 participants. The tour was well planned and paced appropriately. We saw a lot and were provided with information about what we were seeing, passing by, and about the local culture. It was a great day!

The guide is wonderful. He makes everything super easy, and frankly, everything about this place seems complicated if you only speak English. Just know that this tour is just hitting the essentials (tram, church, train) and scratching the surface of what appears to be an amazing place. I could have easily gone to Mass, hiked to the cave, had a few pops at the cafe and spent a full day here. Next time :)

My husband met Marcelo at 8am for the tour to Montserrat. We had a total of 10 people in our group. Marcelo had all of our names memorized within just a few minutes! I think having a small group allowed him to give extra attention. He was so well organized and knew how to get us where we needed to be at just the right time for the train, cable car and cog wheel train. We appreciated his knowledge and passion for this lovely and sacred place. He was kind and friendly. And he surprised us with sweet treats! Thank you Marcelo for the perfect day at Montserrat!

What an amazing place to visit! The scenery and views are extraordinary and the history and architecture incredible. We loved travelling by rail to see the area outside of Barcelona city. The cable car ride up and cog train down were both awesome.
What made the day even better was our wonderful guide, Marcelo. He was so welcoming and knowledgeable and would go out of his way to make sure we had the best seats for the best views! We loved that he reached out to us before the tour for some information and tips. And he went over and above offering advice on anything local - transport, food and even souvenirs.
Doing this tour was a highlight of our holiday :)

We did the Montserrat as well as the Gaudí Gardens and interior of the Sagrada Família. Both tours were excellent, guides punctual, professional curtesy and informative. Transportation was of a high standard.

This tour was well worth the price. We’d done some “research” on visiting Montserrat on our own and then decided last minute to take a small group tour. That was a great decision. Our guide Marcilo was fantastic. The logistics were perfect and since it was first thing in the morning, we got to Montserrat well before any large crowds appeared. Marcilo was also very knowledgeable and shared a multitude of insights. Having 1.5 hours of free time was also a plus because we got a chance to do some moderate hiking as well. I’d recommend this tour to anyone looking for a truly great experience visiting Montserrat

This tour to Montserrat was outstanding. Our tour guide Marcelo was at our meeting point early, and was extremely friendly. He was able to point out a place to grab a quick coffee before we left. Through out our journey, Marcelo was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a historical tour of the Basílica and provided free time to explorer on our own. Marcelo is a good conversationalist, and spent time equally with all guests. He also bought us sweets during our trip. Upon our return to Barcelona, Marcelo recommended a local restaurant that specializes in local food. The entire day was outstanding, and Marcelo was the most professional and thoughtful guide.

We loved getting to ride the metro to Monsterrat, then riding the fonicular (cable car), and the cog train in our small group! To me this created a less touristy experience and let us see things along the way a bus rider would miss. We had 9 people in our group which made it easy for us to hear our guide, Monica. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and adept at cat herding as tourists tend to wander off unexpectedly. Highly recommend her for any tour she may be leading. The monastery is incredible and the views are spectacular even on cloudy days (like on our trip). Take a bag/pack with you because unless you just don't like cheese you'll be buying more than one from the local artisans selling it at the monastery. There's also local honey, nuts, liqueurs, and of course the gift shop. If you don't drink alcohol, then you get these little bags of cookies and sweet bread that are quite good. Lots to see and do here on the tour. We had a great time.
PS- I took the included photos with my phone. The views really are that stunning.
