If you’re even thinking about taking a Spanish cooking class in Barcelona—stop scrolling and book the one with FoodiesXP! This experience was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. This is a must do experience with your family or friends. The people at Roots Gastro Pub were amazing and made this a really fun event. The paella was so good and the sangria was a perfect drink to wash it all down! GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!

The Chef was patient and fun. He took the time to explain every part of the process and shared personal stories of various recipes. My daughter wanted to take notes so she could re-create the dish and he was helpful making sure she had it all. This was a highlight of our trip and would definitely recommend to anyone who loves to cook. Such a great experience!!

My sons and I had a great experience! Our chef was a wonderful teacher with an obvious love for the food and the preparation. In the end, the sangria and paella were delicious. If we make our way back to Barcelona some day, we will be right back in his kitchen!

It says you can cancel 24 hours prior. I booked the wrong date and tried to cancel. Couldn’t get anyone to respond. Called Viator help to try and cancel. Nothing!

Our class with Chef Christina at Foodies XP was the highlight of our time in Barcelona! She’s warm, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable about local cuisine. We learned so much while cooking delicious traditional paella — and enjoyed every bite! Highly recommend this unforgettable experience to anyone visiting Barcelona.

The food was good and the chef was excellent. It was fun preparing, cooking and making sangria. 👍
But when we were booking we were promised a stunning rooftop expedience. But we ended up with a special event room with a small open outdoor space in an industrial building. We were surrounded by air conditioners and dined on a picnic table surrounded with patio turf. The venue was so disappointing for what we paid for. Definitely not a rooftop expedience!!🥲🥲
The venue contained no signage and we had difficulty locating it.

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear you didn’t have a great time at the venue! While the food and cooking activities sounded like a blast, the location and setup didn’t quite hit the mark for you. We’ve come a long way from hosting classes in our house to a more professional space. We booked the space before we had the news area ready, so we’re really sorry for not keeping you in the loop. We’re not doing classes on the small rooftop terrace anymore, and we’ll make sure to address these things for future bookings. Thanks a bunch!

The address on this experience is incorrect. They have moved but the address has not been updated. New location is about a mile away. Make sure you have correct location before booking.

The Venue, staff and food were amazing! They all were so friendly and helpful and taught us a lot about making crusty bread with tomatoes., garlic and olive oil as well as really good Sangria and seafood Paella. I also had a foot injury and they were so kind and helpful with where to get it looked at after the class. All around great experience!

The experience was wonderful. The class was held at the flat of Alphonso. Very knowledgeable. We chopped up everything that would go into the sangria and paella. He actually cooked it. But it was nice watching him cook it. We also had gaspocco. I would definitely recommend. It was only 6 of us that made the experience very comfortable.

This activity was not at all as we expected. The location was moved last minute. The change was billed as an upgrade to a premium experience and location, which it was not. The chef, Martinho, and his helper were engaging and so much fun. All 20+ of us were hanging out and some of us had an opportunity to stir, chop, and mix. The location provided very little protection from the blistering sun. The facilities were inadequate. While I learned a lot about making pallela, not everybody in my party had that opportunity. We were also not provided options for anything other than seafood pallela. As it was, the experience would have been absolutely worth it at 50 to 60% of the price.

This was a wonderful experience! Chef Tommy was a great entertaining instructor and since the restaurant wasn’t ready we were taken to an alternate venue in a breathtaking garden! I can not say enough wonderful things about it!

The setting overlooking the Mediterranean was lovely. Our chef, Tommy, was engaging and fun. We learned how to make tomato/olive oil spread on bread, sangria, and then paella—a ‘hands on’ class where our small group of 6 all participated. Finally, we sat down and enjoyed a delicious meal in a beautiful setting. A great experience, out of the busy hustle-bustle of Barcelona. Loved it!

We planned our entire stay In Barcelona around the paella and sangria class. Remember, you must book your reservations at least 30 days in advance to secure the excursions and times that you want you may not get it. So, when are class was canceled the day of, we were highly disappointed. The reason: we were the only ones that booked the class. Luckily, I thought, we were able to move some things around in our itenerary to join their other class the following day. It was farther away, but they were going to arrange and pay for travel. Awesome pivot, right? Nope!! Again, they canceled this time, within a few hours of the meet time! Needless to say, we were beyond frustrated and disappointed at this point. I was livid. Not enough time to re-plan and it was our last evening in Barcelona. What a let down! And the kicker is, the reason was the same; the group that was scheduled for the class cancelled so it was just us. I am not sure how to protect yourself from this, but try if you can.

While we do have a minimum participant policy in place to maintain the quality and energy of our classes, we absolutely should have handled the communication and cancellations with more care and foresight. For that, we are truly sorry.

Great food, very interesting chef, amazing experience. Check the location directions carefully as we got lost, but the group was small , they waited for us and then the experience ended later so we had the full experience
