Many varieties of fish and they even had sharks and penguins! The aquarium was very nice, but I made the mistake of going on a rainy Saturday. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who decided to escape the rain by visiting the aquarium. The place was full of very exuberant children. If this is a problem for you, you may want to attend on a weekday when schools are in session. Buying the tickets online to skip the line only really allows you to skip the ticket purchase line. There will still be a line to enter based on the time slot you booked.

The price of admission is very high for what you get. The aquarium livestock is mediocre at best. Maybe I had set my expectations too high thinking everything carrying the Barcelona name is first class. The signage was very very basic. Candidly I've seen better aquariums in private residences.

The aquarium is maintained well and looks amazing from the outside. When you get inside it’s a big of a nightmare.
To many people in at the same time meant it was really hard to see everything.
The tunnel was great ,so all can view you stand on a conveyor belt that slowly takes you through. There’s a wide range of animals

The aquarium is great if you have small kids. Otherwise, it is just ok. If you are short on time in Barcelona, place this activity low on the list of activities and prioritize visiting other sites. If you have small children and are looking to fill some space, then its worth it.

My most point to visit aquarium was to see whale shark as is was present on website. There is no whale shark there. So I was disappointed because I’m from New York (USA) and we attended much bigger aquariums.

Dear Tara, thank your for your review and your honest opinion. On the other hand, we do not have a Whale Shark at Barcelona's Aquarium, it is impossible to have such a big fish in any of our tanks. We do not advertise it and we do not certainly have pictures of it...

I bought a 19:00 ticket to go to the Aguarium. I got there around 18:10 and they were closing up the Aquarium. They told me to come back today and they'll honor the ticket. In any case I wasted time and an Uber trip back and forth.

The aquarium is very well done. Excellent for families.
We went on Sunday afernoon, 06/02, and there were no lines.
The Old Port marina area is a great area to walk around, with many places to eat an vendors' stalls.

Great place to visit, bigger inside than expected with lots to see and do. The shark tank (huge) with moving floor was the highlight. Lots of young school children knocking about creating the usual amount of noise and mayhem could detract from the experience if you preferred a more tranquil visit.

Much larger than we anticipated and it was very easy to navigate. They had a large assortment of fish and the kids loved to see the Penguins and sharks!
