The Luberon region of Provence is renowned for its idyllic landscapes, but getting around is difficult without your own transport. Tumbling down the hillside in waves of white rock and terracotta, Gordes is a masterpiece of stone architecture. Tour Gorde’s charming shops, have a look at the reconstructed Renaissance castle and enjoy more sweeping vistas of the Luberon valley.

We wanted to see interesting places….not shop

The scenery was lovely, along the drive, and the tour operator was informative and congenial… but , being dropped off and left , without guidance, meant that we simply wandered ,from shop to shop, for an hour …instead of having a directed and guided tour of the interesting places close at hand. Not many of us bought anything… cause we were there to see things…not buy things,

Stunning Luberon

After spending three wonderful days in the center of Avignon I knew there was another side of Provence that I wanted to see. This tour took us to 4 different, stunning hilltop villages in the countryside of Luberon. At each stop we had just the right amount of time to wander, take pictures, and absorb the ambience of the area. For me, walking through these villages is like being in a fairy tale. Our guide and driver, Émile, shared a wealth of information while we drove around and when we arrived at each location. He told us about the region, it’s deep history and current day, and he made us all feel very much at ease asking any kind of questions . The van was comfortable, the villages are amazing, and Émile is a knowledgeable, personable, funny and profession guide!

Excellent Tour of Lovely Luberon Towns

Jus was very engaging, provided many insights as to the history of the Luberon area and its culture, and further gave us tips/comments about the towns we visited. He also told many humorous stories while driving between towns. Regarding the towns themselves, I loved Roussillon’s red color themed villa the best with its quaint lanes and shops. It was fun to explore. Gorses and Bonnieux are also beautiful and unique. Loved this tour and strongly recommend it!

This trip is a great way to see the surrounding countryside and experience the vibe of 3 different villages. Joce our guide was superb - extremely knowledgeable about the area and his love of Provence/Luberon was infectious. Nothing was too much trouble and he worked hard to ensure that all 4 disparate groups were included. If you fancy escaping the cities and towns of Provence for an afternoon then I thoroughly recommend this tour- beautiful countryside, vineyards, wild flowers & of course the lavender fields all en route to beautiful historic villages. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon exploring the Luberon

Jeremy, our guide for the afternoon, was great. Personally identified us at the specified pickup point, introduced himself immediately and was happy to accommodate our request to sit “up front” due to car travel issues…..thank you! Tour was really enjoyable, a nice small group of 8 people. All pre-tour info & reminders were delivered well in advance. Jeremy was really forthcoming with information as we travelled, happy to answer our questions and was certainly a very safe driver. The 3 villages visited were all beautiful and were very glad we had the opportunity to visit each of them. If you’re looking for a 1/2 day afternoon tour that will give you an insight into the Luberon, then I’d definitely recommend.

Late November

My wife and I were the only ones on the tour. It was a great way to see several villages and learn as much as we could about each town, the Luberon region, and France in general. Late November is off-season, so it felt like we had each unique village to ourselves, which we enjoyed. Most of the stores were closed, but at least each village had a few open, which is all we needed for souvenirs, food, wine, etc given the time allotted. Our tour guide Emmanuel was excellent.

More shopping than sightseeing of beautiful locales

We loved seeing the advertised sites—especially Rousillon—BUT, VERY DISAPPOINTINGLY, there was very little explanation from the guide (Jerome), and there were far too many awkward stops at merchants with little reason given for the stops. (I guess we were expected to buy something at each location.) It felt much more like a shopping trip than the sightseeing expedition we signed up for. This tour was a far different experience than our Roman Sites tour the following day, where the guide/van driver (Remi) spoke through a microphone to explain history and background along the way, and where we had thorough explanations with plenty of time to explore on our own. Because the only other way to visit these sites would have been to rent a car, we are still glad we got to see the various locales. HOWEVER, we were extremely disappointed in the way the tour was conducted—particularly in comparison with all the other Viator tours we have taken.
