Our guide Silvia was great. She provided a running commentary about the places we were passing and the towns that we visited, along with the histories of each. The van was clean and comfortable. We could hear our guide because she had a microphone. Of course it would’ve been nice to spend more time in each town, but it wasn’t possible on this tour. Silvia also provided restaurant suggestions in Avignon when our tour was over. Highly recommend this tour with Silvia.

An average intro to Provençal villages

We visited Roussillon, Gordes (viewpoint only), and Fontaine de Vacluse in the first half of the day. The second half of the day we stopped briefly at St Remy de Provence, then visited Les Baux and Pont du Gard. Unfortunately, significant time was wasted having to return to Avignon after lunch to pick up 2 passengers who had only signed up for the afternoon and likewise drop off 2 passengers who’d only signed up for the morning half. This seemed very unfair to people who’d signed up and paid to do the full day and having time wasted in this way. We would have preferred to continue to St Remy de Provence and have some free time there - as it stood, we were walked through it by the guide Oliver for maybe 15-20 mins and given a little bit of pointless information to be quite frank. This was a missed opportunity and very frustrating. It was particularly more so given that the lunch stop had been in Fountaine de Vacluse where the season is effectively over and the village is minuscule, you don’t need 75 minutes here - it was a complete mismanagement of time, particularly when we didn’t get to actually visit Gordes itself, only the viewpoint. Similar time wise with Roussillon - pretty but you don’t need to spend one hour there. Overall, this was an average tour which could have been so much better and didn’t need to be as long in certain places.

Covered a lot of Provence in a day. Our guide Flo was full of energy and provided good explanations throughout the day. Tour appears to be in 2 parts. We visited a few villages in the morning then came back to Avignon to pick up some people for the half day afternoon tour. Would have had less travel time if this was exclusively a full day tour.

Discover Provence without Driving

See all the top destinations in the area without having to drive. I could not believe France contains so many diverse places in such a small area. It’s a trip I’ll remember forever. Minimal walking required & plenty of spots for food & toilets. Our guide was very welcoming & knowledgeable. Amazing value!

Wasn't what I expected

The driver was a 10. The issues were 1. Vehicle was mini van style for 8 passenger, 2 in front 3 in middle, 3 in rear. This is too close to sit with strangers. The vehicle sb mini bus design with 2 seats an isle and 2 seats. 2. Our group had 5, at the half way point of the 10 hour tour you called the driver back to the original meet up place to pick up 3 more people. Rather than cram 8 people into this design of a vehicle we disembarked and didn't receive the tour we were expecting from viator. We used viator just a few months previous in New York and the vehicle was designed as mini bus and was very comfortable.

Emile, our tour guide was friendly, very knowledgeable, punctual, and a great driver. His personal stories gave us a wonderful idea of how living in Provence looks like. Overall, a lovely day where we saw lots of this beautiful region, without the hassle of driving through hilltop towns. Highly recommend this day tour.

Wonderful tour

Les Baux, Pont du Gard, etc, etc were wonderful places to see and visit. The weather was a bit rainy, but Viator was not responsible! The only issue we had was that the microphone/speaker was not working, so it was difficult to hear on the back.

Provence Tour

This was an excellent way to spend a day in Avignon. Emmanuel was a wonderful guide and we enjoyed his commentary. The trip took us to three hilltop villages in the morning and then we had to go back to Avignon to drop off one group and pick up another group that had scheduled the afternoon tour. This took time that I wish we had spent going on to the next part of our trip. The afternoon was enjoyable with a trip to beautiful St Remy and then to the Pont du Gard, which was the highlight of the trip for us. We could spend a day there and an hour was too short. Also it was the last stop of a long day. But it was wonderful to see. All in all, a great way to spend a day and see things you would not be able to see without a car.

This was a great way to see the Provence area around Avignon without a car. Our guide, Joce, was fantastic, very knowledgeable, polite and accommodating. We were a group of seven in a van. We saw four towns and the pont du gard. Also had time to have a leisurely lunch. Great tour.

Pont du Gard entrance ticket not included

The tour described as Pont du Gard entrance ticket to be included, but it wasn’t. The driver didn’t dropped us off at the group tour entrance and left us at the individual tourist entrance. So we had to pay 13 euro to enter. Pony du gard receptionist called the tour company, and the tour company informed her that we will receive the refund, but no refund even after formally requesting the refund at the tour site and emailing the company. The tour description is very deceptive.

In addition, the person from our agency that you spoke to on the phone explained everything to you, and never told you that you would be reimbursed, and the Pont du Gard staff confirmed it to you. In addition, our full day program is optimized: the return to Avignon allows the morning customers to be dropped off and the afternoon customers to be picked up, but there is no detour, since it is on the way to the planned program. Fantastic tour of all the essentials in the area. I definitely recommend this tour if you have limited time but want to see the region. Jerome was a wonderful guide, with a wealth of knowledge for all the major spots and stopped at additional places that weren’t in the original tour description. Roads are bumpy and you’ll get jostled in the van bit, but overall wonderful tour!

Not what we expected

We visited some amazing places in Provence that we probably would not have seen otherwise. The tour guide was reallly good at stopping for photos and took great pictures. We would have appreciated more commentary as we were driving about the country side, history, things we were seeing. The guide was kind to buy us a coffee at a morning stop and water after our last stop, both of which were much appreciated. By afternoon our guide was barely talking. It seemed off that we started our tour in Avignon, then by early afternoon we’re back on Avignon to pick up a half day group. Would have rather just continued and ended tour earlier. But the biggest issue for all 4 of us was the driving. The guide was driving so fast and 3 of us got motion sickness. We were just relieved to return without hitting another car, a pedestrian, a biker.

A smidge of Provence

It was nice to experience a “smidge” of the Luberon and see to Pont du Gard. Our guide, Mark, was articulate and caring. You need to know this is mostly a drive by subject to the tour company’s scheduling. For instance we drove through St Remy for that advertised segment. We had our longest time at Pont du Gard which had the least to see. Our whole-day tour was really two half day tours put together. Both started in Avignon so time was spent returning there and waiting for the next to start as we let people off and added them. Had I understood this I would have cancelled due to the waste of time. I figured it might be rushed in spots but not because I was paying to go pick up their next customer. The guide told us to buy food in one town because lunch would be rushed in the next, which did not have great places to picnic. Lack of communication and transparency made me feel taken advantage of and disappointed.

Our guide Joanna was very informative, pleasant, and had very good driving skills. We covered four hillside villages all with amazing views ending with the aqueduct. We would highly recommend this tour it will leave you with lasting memories. It is a long day ,but worth every minute .
