Your tour of Provence begins with morning pickup from a central Avignon location. Take a seat and enjoy scenic views of the Provençal countryside as you head north.

Take a short drive to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, situated at the center of fertile wine country. Admire rolling hills carpeted in vineyards, learn about the local varietals, and stop at a vineyard to sample wine.

Take some time to explore and snap photos from the lofty vantage point over the Luberon plains. Great visit to Chateauneuf de Papa! We visited two wineries and learned about the region and winemaking. Our tour guide was awesome and knowledgeable. Great tour! Had a chance to see the perched villages of Luberon.

We really enjoyed the tour with our guide, Oliver. He had some great insights about the region and suggestions on where to go during our explore alone time. Definitely had some great wine. We would have loved a full-day tour or just wineries that let us sample even more.

Wonderful Day

Katemonteiro5, Oct 2024
Great tour of Chateauneuf du Pap and Luberon. Our guide was fantastic and we spent the entire day with him. Gave us a choice of the last village to see and we chose Fontaine-de-Vaucluse which was completely different from Gordes. Can’t say enough about this tour! A must!

A perfect day outside if the cities of France to the romantic countryside. A full day of various experiences with a knowledgeable tour guide was worth every penny and was a great value for the money. Take the stress out of planning vacation itineraries and relax a little on this tour. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic tour of Provence

Stephanie_B, Jun 2023
I had a wonderful experience with Viator and my tour guide Francois. Viator was flexible and changed my tour to the day after when I got stuck in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence due to a public holiday and lack of buses to Avignon. The wine tour was great and very educational (as well as delicious of course) and the second half of the tour to small villages across Provence was perfect to see more of the area without a car. I highly recommend this tour as a solo traveller without a car. Thankyou to Francois for a wonderful and educational tour and a great day overall.

Afternoon part was excellent

Rolf_V, May 2023
We loved the afternoon part. Great service. In the morning you do some wine tasti g and get a course how to taste wine. This was less interesting. Then you get back to Avignon to have a break in which you can habe lunch (not included). In afternoon beautiful tour of villages with nice photo opportunities. Great service!

The tour has surpassed our expectations. The guide was attentive and professional. Wine tasting felt special and personal. The pace of the tour was relaxed and leisurely, with plenty of time to explore some of the most beautiful French villages. And beautiful they are! Breathtaking.

Response from Host, Feb 2023

Dear Stewart, Thank you very much for your positive feedback and for your guide Lea. We are glad you had a great time. Hoping to see you again on a future A LA FRANCAISE excursion

Disappointing

Anu_B, Sep 2022
Overall this trip was disappointing and was not at informative. There was an unnecessary 45 minute lunch stop in Avignon ( the guide did not tell us that we would be returning to Avignon after the morning trip) after the wine tasting in the morning which took time away from the afternooon trip. Also there was no information given on the itinerary for the afternoon, background or enough history on the village of Gordes or its cathedral. The last stop in Menerbes would have been a perfect stop for a drink in the lovely bistro with an amazing view out over the Provençal countryside at the end of the day but felt rushed and was used instead as the briefest of photo stops. We also stopped at two commercial places at the beginning of the afternoon which none of the group was interested in. The trip would benefit from having the wine tasting in the afternoon and Luberon in the morning during the month of August as makes more sense to be out of the baking heat in the afternoon!

Response from Host, Sep 2022

Dear customer, Our tours are programmed in such a way as to optimize the journey and see pretty villages, take photos, have free time. The return to Avignon does not waste time since it is on the way for the program of the afternoon. We are concerned about customer satisfaction and the improvement of our services, so we take your feedback and comments on the timing you would have preferred into account. Best regards, A LA FRANCAISE

Everything was good. Beautiful location, comfortable vehicle and nice guide. My guide tried to guide more beautiful places than planned. This tour program is worth to buy.

Beautiful and interesting tour!

Laura_E, Aug 2022
This tour covered so many great things! First of all our guide Jeremy was so knowledgeable and friendly, he pointed out a lot of interesting landmarks between Avignon and the Chateauneuf du pape region and told us a few things about the wine regions around the area. Both wine tasting were fantastic, we learned a lot about the grapes of the area and really enjoyed getting to taste a variety of different local varieties. The towns of Gordes, Rousillon and Menerbes were all beautiful and we loved walking around the areas and seeing the local sights. This trip is definitely worth it if you're looking to get that real 'provence' feel!

Response from Host, Aug 2022

Terrifying

Nicola_R, Jun 2022
The guide had scant superficial knowledge of the places we visited, he could not drive the van, we were anxious for our safety and we had no idea of the timeline and when we would get back, do that we missed a reservation.

Response from Host, Jun 2022

Dear Nicola, We are happy to talk over it again with you after our clarification about the circumstances of this tour. Another client was not so negative however we offered you solutions that you accepted. We took your remarks to heart and put everything to improve our services. Best regards, A LA FRANCAISE TEAM

Great Sights and Scenery

rohankim, Jan 2020
My daughter and I had a great day on the Provence Le Grand tour. Julian was an excellent guide and our driver- he had great English and passed on lots of knowledge and history about the area. The tour is an efficient way to see a lot of the sights including picturesque villages, wine tasting and Roman landmarks without having to drive or navigate yourself. We were the only two on the tour and we’re grateful the company didn’t cancel the tour as some companies would for small numbers.

Great experience

Vincent T, Dec 2019
We have a wonderful tour. Our guide was helpful and knowledgeable. Dec. in Provence could be very cold. Our guide drop us off right near the entry to every site.

Fabulous!

Theresa3481, Oct 2019
Our guide Remi is great! He managed our time really well and the group managed to see all the places as per the itinerary. Well done, Remi! Thank you.

Wonderful!

Penelope S, Sep 2019
Our guide 'AD' was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, he made the tour really interesting. He shared a great deal of historical knowledge and local information which complimented the spectacular sites and ensured the full day tour didn't drag. Well done AD.

nice tour

Karen_A, Jul 2019
it was long tour but was very nice. the tour guide was very friendly and nice. we all enjoyed the trip and seen everything that we want. also the wine was nice also.

Can do better

HangSunTony_H, Jun 2019
The coach nice, but the English speaking is not easy to listen and he did not explain much more about each attractions actively.

Very nice and complete

JanJelle_W, May 2019
Very nice tour, covers a lot of places that are otherwise hard to reach. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide. The planning of lunch was a bit unclear, would have been 5 stars if we could have a nice relaxed lunch instead of going back to pick up more guests during lunchtime.

This was a great way to see the best of Provence! There's no way we would have been able to see so much on our own. It was a long day but we got to rest a bit in the van between each stop. Our tour guide Dorean was great and made the day memorable with her commentary about the history, geography and other fun tidbits about each town we passed. My only complaint was the van- there were eight adults squished into the van's two front seats and two back benches, which proved a little annoying piling in and out at each stop. We got picked up second in the morning so our original seats were fine but along the way we switched with other couples so everyone had a chance to sit with each other/ to accommodate other people's medical needs bad knees/ backs. I wouldn't have minded this expect that the van was HOT in the back, which isn't great combined with the bumpy old roads and winding paths. Eventually Dorean figured out how to turn the air down lower and we felt better. 10/10 reccommend this trip to anyone wanting to see a little bit of everything during their Provence stay.

Nice overview tour

Tatyana K, Jul 2018
I enjoyed the tour - it was my first time in that part of France. This tour gave enough information to setup other activities in a region. You have to be prepared for a day long drive. We were in a mini van with 6 other people. I wish our driver setup certain rules at the beginning of the tour: like seating arrangements in a van: people change their seating after each stop so each gets to sit upfront for example. Other than that this tour met my expectations.

Catherine_N, Jun 2018
This was good. We saw a lot, and it was nice driving around the countryside. There was about an hours stop in each place - which was enough time but not lots of time to linger if you wanted to see everything! Orange was great - we spent the time here at the Roman theatre, which was really interesting it had an audioguide. I suspect you could get a train to Orange and do that by yourself, but it was easy doing it as part of the day. We saw Gordes from afar photo stop only but had about an hour in Rousillon. Rousillon was probably my favourite stop - you can do a half hour walk up close to the ochra coloured sandstone which I thought was well worth doing. We also stopped at Les Baux, I went into the castle ruins but perhaps it would have been as nice to have sat in a cafe. Again, it was an hours stop. We drove through St Remy and stopped at the hospital Van Gogh was in. Our final stop was Pont du Gard, which was really cool. You can go into the river here, so maybe wear shorts! The vineyard stop would have been fine, if I hadn't done it on one of their tours the day before. However, the guide walked into the little town with me instead and I did a cellar tasting instead. Its an easy way to see a lot of the region, and I enjoyed the free time in each place. It was well organised.

Susan_G, Jun 2018
This tour was great even though unfortunately we were too late in the season for the lavender fields. The tour guide was fantastic and very thoughtful. Two people had cancelled so there were just four adults a toddler and a baby so it was a nice small group. The Pont du gard was really worth seeing as were the villages we saw. It was a long day, but well worth it. You could never see it as easy doing it on your own.

What a great day! We did see so...

Jean G, Mar 2018
What a great day! We did see so much and visited so many towns. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area. It was a long day and we were tired when we returned but well worth it. I had thought we would stop for a sit down lunch, but we were able to just grab something as we went along. He gave us suggestions where to pick up food. Well worth taking this tour. We visited Orange, Chateauneuf de Papa winery, Pont de Guard, Les Baux-de-Provence, beautiful and a must see, Gordes, and Roussilon. We did a lot of driving and walking but it was worth it!

Dean T, Dec 2017
There is a great deal packed into this tour! Pisa was astounding and we had enough time to wander around for the obligatory photos. The other stops were too rushed, there was so much to see and explore and we only had time for a cursory glance! Best to consider this a fact finder with a need for a

I would fully recommend this tour to anyone thinking about taking it. My sister and I enjoyed learning about the area from our very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly guide Nicolas. The day was spent with laughter and fun. If I had to I couldnt pick a favorite stop. Each place had its own special charm. This was our tour: 10.5-hour tour of Provence from Avignon Visit the 1st-century Roman town of Orange with your guide Admire top attractions such as the Triumphal Arch and the Roman amphitheater Drive through the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region and visit the medieval village of Les Baux de Provence Sample local wines during a tasting session Marvel at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Pont du Gard, an ancient Roman aqueduct Tour includes round-trip travel from your accommodation in Avignon.

Eileen M, Nov 2017
Guide was knowledgeable, helpful etc. Experiences were high quality. WIne-tasting was early in morning but would be better later in day. The mini-bus was too small for 8 passengers all day long. My recommendation is - do not book this tour if the bus is going to be full.

Ashley M, Nov 2017
This tour gave me a great feel for the Provence. It was a perfect small group and although we didn't all know each other, we had a great time together. The driver and tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area and all it has to offer. It was a day I'll never forget and it enticed me to rent a car the following day to spend some more time in some of the neighboring small villages.

Lorna A, Sep 2017
Excellent tour - a long day but not too much walking. The stops offered a variety of historical periods and geographical differences. Melanie was a great guide her English was excellent and she was very knowledgeable about the history and geography of the area. There was sufficient time at each stop for taking photos and doing a bit of shopping. There isnt much time to enjoy a restaurant meal, so take some snacks along or grab some takeout food enroute.
