Because if you go to the lavender fields to take pictures, the golden light is between 8pm and 9:30pm. During the day the light is very strong and it can be very hot. We will leave Aix-en-Provence at 4pm so we can catch the nice sunset when we get to Valensole plateau. The trip to get there is around 45 minutes. You will be surrounded by fields of lavender, the famous Provençal scented plant, abound here. We will also stop in a lavender distillery along the way where you have the opportunity to buy products directly from the producers; and we will leave you some free time in the village of Valensole. The best time for lovers of typical Provençal landscapes to visit is middle of June to end of July, when Valensole plateau is awash with beautiful blue lavender in bloom. Perfect day in Marseilles!

Our tour in Marseilles was one of the highlights of our Mediterranean cruise. From the moment Bruno picked us up at the cruise terminal, we knew we were in good hands. He has a super comfortable Mercedes van with WiFi, charging cables for our phones, water, and mints. Bruno is not only incredibly kind, but he is also really funny. He knew all the best places to go in the region, and made sure we maximized our day in port. He took us to Notre Dame de la Garde, Aix en Provence, Cassis, and a few other places we wanted to see. He shared facts and history of Marseilles with us and took great pictures of me and my family. Needless to say, we had a perfect day full of laughter, great conversation, and beautiful scenery. We hope to be back in Marseilles again one day and will definitely call Bruno to take us around!

We had a delightful day at the Gorge and Tom was an excellent guide. He is passionate and knowledgeable about all things Provence … food, wine, culture, nature and geographical assets. Just when I thought my France trip could not get any better!

When I thought my trip could not get any better! If you are in Aix and are able to ride a bike, this is a must do! Electric bike makes going uphill a breeze and so much fun. Traveling through the forest and the neighborhoods and gorgeous scenery everywhere. Vincent gave great instructions that I felt completely confident after just minutes. I can’t say enough about it. It was just wonderful.

Sebastian was a great guide. He gave interesting commentary on the drive and was a careful driver. The towns we visited provided a good overview of the area. I would suggest that Viator be more clear as to which cities are included on the tour for the day that is booked. We did not visit one town that Viator listed.

Rain didn’t stop a great time!

Our guide, Ines, from Orpheus, was amazing. It was scheduled to pour most of the day - not great for 1) being on a small boat (12 capacity) or 2) seeing gorgeous scenery. She flipped our schedule so we got on the first boat of the day and we were able to see 3 calanques before the downpour began. Despite the rain we all had a great time. We grabbed an early lunch and were able to get to the cliff-top during a break in the weather and got some great shots. The vineyard we were supposed to visit got flooded so they cancelled. Ines reached out to other vineyards and was able to book us a tasting, but they cancelled at the last minute! Ines reached out to the museum of civilization in Marseille and got us tickets for the Cosquer underwater cave recreation, which was very interesting and something none of our tour group knew about beforehand. So, it wasn’t the day we were expecting, but Orpheus and Ines made sure we didn’t get short-changed and we all had a great time. In fact, one couple, there with some family, got engaged on the boat in the pouring rain! On some level, it’s about the attitude you bring with you to every day, isn’t it? Oh, and Ines’ lunch recommendation was spot on!

Wonderful experience!

This was a great experience and our tour guide was great! It was so wonderful to see the lavender fields and the sunflowers. And seeing them at sunset was fabulous. The stop at the farm was so nice. It was a pretty long tour and I think I would’ve preferred 4 hours in total instead of 6+ hours. It was a lovely experience and I will recommend to others.
