John was knowledgeable, patient, and personable. He was an enthusiastic guide - interested in architecture, connections of classical Greek philosophy to today (and the iterative eras between). From Socrates to Descartes, from the Stoics to Irvine, from Aristotle to Nussbaum - there is so much still to learn from the classical Greek philosophy.
Along the way, you get to see Athens from a local's perspective.

Our private philosophy and democracy tour with Bianca was easily the best tour we’ve ever taken.
Having never done a tour like this before, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But Bianca brought complex ideas to life in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow, making the entire experience feel meaningful and memorable. Its like taking a walk with a friend who tells the best stories.
My husband, who already has a strong background in philosophy, still learned a lot and so did I, even without that same foundation. It’s clear that anyone, regardless of their familiarity with philosophy, could take something valuable away from this tour.
If you’re considering this experience, don’t hesitate book it!

Bianca is friendly, highly educated, connected and insightful. She shares her passion for philosophy and Greek culture with ease and elegance. She not only gave us insights into the Greek philosophers, their unique philosophy on life, the discernments but also took us to the beautiful monuments in the city that we thoroughly enjoyed. My husband took lots of pictures and the day was magnificent. In addition, Bianca treated us to the local breakfast food eaten on the go Kouluri- tasty sesame crusted bread, coffee how the locals drink and a visit to the Greek Orthodox Church. We munched on fresh roasted chestnuts and walked the cobblestone lined streets with glee.

This was an absolutely fantastic tour! John was a wonderful guide - warm, engaging and incredibly knowledgeable. He brought Athens’ myths and philosophy to life in a clear, vivid and inspiring way.
As a family of parents and two teens/young adults particularly interested in philosophy and Ancient Greece, this tour was perfect for us. It was a great combination of walking around Athens, seeing wonderful sights, and discussing myths, philosophers and history along the way. We especially enjoyed talking to John and exchanging ideas - he was so generous with his time that the tour lasted longer than the official 4 hours. (The drink stop in the middle was very welcome by the way!)
One small suggestion for the organisers would be to consider offering a shorter version (maybe 2 - 3 hours?) as 4 hours may be long for some groups. That said, for us it was one of the very best tours we’ve ever done in Athens - highly recommended!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this tour. Myths & Philosophers? We met up with Bianca and immediately felt at ease. She engaged both of us. She talked to us like a person not a teacher. But she had a way of making you want to learn and ask questions. She was thought provoking and made us want more. I wish we could have spend more time with her. It was the absolute best. Our guide Bianca was outstanding! We could have kept talking with her for hours, as she was both fun and knowledgeable. Her passion for philosophy made a subject that can sometimes be a bit dry totally accessible and relatable. We really appreciated how she found the perfect shady places to stop and talk about the philosophers and/or things we were seeing. Our four hour tour with her flew by, and was seriously one of the best tours we've ever had in our many travels!

So this was the highlight of my trip to Athens. Bianca was extremely knowledgeable about the subjects and made point of engaging me in philosophical discussion. It was great to walk and talk about the great philosophers and explore the area in more detail. This one on one experience is a great counterpoint to the endless group tours that are good but impersonal. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants a slower more personal experience.

I came to Athens for the first time for work and had just a short time to tour. I wanted to walk in the footsteps of the philosophers who helped create society as we know it and whose wisdom 2,500 years later still informs us how we can be the best version of ourselves. I was not disappointed with this tour - in fact, I was thrilled. John and Bianca were extraordinary. If you book one tour in Athens, book this one! It was far and away the best tour we have taken...like ever. Bianca is an absolute delight - another one of Athen's gems! Her knowledge of and passion for Greek philosophers is matched by her sense of humor and jovial personality. One of us knew nothing about the subject while the other was more advanced; she somehow met us both where we were. Her story telling and depth of knowledge make thousands of years of history easy to follow and connect. You cover a lot of ground in Athens but stop / walk through both ancient and modern areas of interest. It was clear that Bianca made some adjustments based on our previous exploration of Athens, avoided repetition and personalizing based on our questions. A real professional. To put it simply: BOOK THIS TOUR!

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the Greek philosophers she discussed. I enjoyed how she made each discussion feel like a Socratic circle, giving the experience some authenticity. This was our favorite excursion in Athens, and we had many on our vacation. If you are interested in philosophy and history, this is a must do! Our guide Bianca has a degree in philosophy, and she was so knowledgeable. We sat in beautiful locations to discuss different philosophers. It felt like we were ancient Greeks sitting and discussing ideas. She also showed us beautiful locations with historical significance and put them into context. We had a fantastic time!
