After meeting your guide at your Algarve hotel, enjoy a day trip to Spain’s Andalucian gem, Seville. Aboard your air-conditioned coach relish tranquil views as you travel 2 hours east. After arriving, venture by foot to discover the city’s top attractions.

First, stroll to beautiful Maria Luisa Park, a public park humming with local picnickers and shaded by a canopy of palm, elm, and Mediterranean pine trees. Walk along the park’s expansive Moorish-style gardens as you approach the stunning Plaza de España. Learn how this Renaissance Revival style building was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition World’s Fair.

Enter the regal Plaza de España noticing the half-circle moat, grandeur walking bridges, and gorgeous twin towers. Head towards the center and see the Vicente Traver fountain. Watch as water soars into the air creating a cooling mist.

Move onward to explore the neighborhood of Santa Cruz. Learn about this former Jewish quarter as you wind your way through narrow cobblestone alleys with Tapas Bars at every turn. After wandering past charming whitewashed houses arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage site Seville Cathedral. Stop for a perfect photo opportunity at the world’s largest Gothic cathedral.

Next, head to Real Alcazar Palace (Alcazar of Seville), the oldest royal palace still in use today. Admire its architecture developed by real Moorish kings and learn how the upper levels are still occupied by the royal family. After visiting the palace your tour ends with your guide, but continue for the next 3 hours on your own.

If you’re hungry, head to a tapas bar for a wide variety of tasty bites or grab a smooth gelato to cool down (own expense). Perhaps, step into a souvenir shop or just wander corridors taking in the ambiance. After three hours, rendezvous with your guide at a prearranged location and time and return to your Algarve hotel where your day trip ends.

Good tour, but not a very well planned one

The trip was good but I felt Ana our tour guide was pushing us more to do the boat ride and visit the garden . She was discouraging us to do the castle and the cathedral, which were actually the highlight of the trip. The boat ride is pretty mediocre, I would have felt very disappointed if I didn’t visit the cathedral or do the whole old town square by myself using a horse carriage.

We did not have a good experience with the guide. We felt abandoned by the guide. If he would of handed us a Hop on Hop off brochure, we would of least had a map of the city. When we went to go into the Palace, there were not tickets available. Our guide told us to meet at 1.45 to go on the River Cruise which we did. On the ticket it said it included a free walking tour, which our guide did not tell us and at that point we had no time to do this as we had to get back on the bus. If we would of known, we could of did the walking tour, then the river cruise. As it worked out, we basically went to Seville for lunch and back to Portugal.

Do not go long day and only 4 hours in Seville.

First on the site, it located my resort as one of the pickup for 7am. Instead, I had to wake up 4am catch an uber to go to a bus station that was not close by 5:45am. We made several stops to pick other at their hotel. Arrive Seville 11am and leave 3pm. A very short tour and last 2 hours alone. Return home 9pm and of course back to bus station and another uber. Trip to Seville direct is only 2 hours but as you can see it was a long day from 4am to9pm.

Lovely trip. Even though this is not a guided tour, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had approximately 4 hours of free time and we did a Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour to see Seville. Before doing this tour, do research as to what you want to see in Seville and plan/use your time wisely.

It’s a long way to go for a few hours of free time .. the guide is only there to tell you where to go , there is no tour. I went on this tour 13 years ago and our guide took us to the Plaza de Espana which was free and just stunning then into the old town. Do not take the boat tour .. not worth the $20 euros. On the way back our bus driver has no idea where he was going, could not speak English, missed our stop, then has to take us back.

Spent 9.5 hours round trip on a bus with a number of stops to pick up others before arrival in Seville. Then 1.5 hours in line for a ticket to castle. It left 3 hours to experience the city. Not a great experience

The bus driver was great....

The bus driver was great. The tour guide Dominique was great and fantastic. Paulino who drove us home to Luz was great also. But the driver who pick us up to bring us to bus st 5 30 am really had a bad altitude, no smile and barely good morning. Ask him questions and trouble answering us. Maybe he was not feeling well or a bad day but no excuses. All the rest was fantastic trip and well organize.

This was a convenient and cost-effective way to take a day trip to Seville from Albufeira. While there was a tour guide, he along with the bus driver could be categorized as grumpy old men...not worth the added expense. The tour guide maybe provided commentary about 10% of the trip. He spoke with the bus driver about 40% of the time, and the remaining 50% of the time, there was silence.

Book admission to sites in advance

We had originally planned to rent a car and spend a night or two in Seville but hotels were prohibitively expensive during our available days so we opted for this trip as a way to at least see the highlights of Seville. Unfortunately lines for all the big sites (Cathedral, Royal Palace, etc) were very long. We were informed at the time by our guide that we should have booked admission to these sites days in advance so we likely wouldn’t get to see them that day. I don’t know if this is normal or if we just happened to be there at an exceptionally busy time (just after Easter) but there were a lot of tourists around. We didn’t want to waste the precious 4-5 hours we had in Seville standing in lines in the hot sun hoping to get in, so we decided to make the best of it and spent the day walking through the narrow alleys of the old neighborhood and some lovely parks, a enjoyed a pleasant lunch and drinks next to the river. It was a nice day despite the disappointment of missing out on the main attractions. I’d recommend booking admission to the top sites in advance and be prepared to spend more time on the bus than actually in Seville. It’s a nice drive though.

Seville was beautiful and definitely worth visit. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The bus pick up was a little long and disorganized. We were picked up unnecessarily early and shuttled to a meeting point half an hour in the opposite direction of Seville where we waited another 45 minutes to depart. We could have easily been shuttled a half hour in the other direction and avoid a 5:45 am pickup to a more reasonable 7:00 to 7:30 pickup.

We had to change our hotel just before leaving the UK so we notified Viator of the new hotel to change pick up. Received email to confirm new hotel but on day of trip we waited at reception but no tour operator. Due 7am Unable to contact operator as office didn’t open for another 2 hours. Contacted Viator in London by phone 47 minutes later the call ended with sorry unable to speak with operator as their office isn’t open looks like we received details of new pick up but didn’t forward it to them would you like half a day jeep safari or money back. !! Money back will be returned in up to 7 days . Not at all the experience we were hoping for. Need to employ someone in resort to be able to quickly sort out problems like these.

Seville has so much history and beautiful architecture. The guide, Ana, was amazing. She is very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about what she does. However we were sixty people in our group. It was extremely difficult to hear her speak once we started walking around the city. Otherwise we really enjoyed it!

Tour group too large. Guide very helpful but very difficult to hear once on the street. All information was in 3 languages which took up a lot of time. The bus ride home dropped everyone off at a different location which resulted in an extremely long bus ride. If I had known the trip home would take 4 hours, I would not have chosen this tour.

The day trip was fantastic. The hostess Dominic.was very knowledgeable, spoke various languages, helpful and professional. My recommendation is that you advise your customers to pre-purchase tickets to the Cathedral, Palace etc. In order to maximise your time instead of waiting in a queue only to be turned away because the ticket box has closed..

Tiring Day

I think the pre trip information was confusing. When I booked it allowed me to select my hotel so I thought that would be the pick up spot. As soon as my booking was confirmed I get a message from the tour operator to say the pick up point would be another hotel one and a half hours before the trip start time ( pick up was 540). I asked for an address and was told the bus stop outside Hotel Tivoli. The day before I reached out for confirmation of the pick up as my ticket said my hotel. Tour operator did not respond so I had to contact Viator who got a response to say Hotel Tivoli at 540. On the day I get to the bus stop outside hotel Tivoli well before the pick up time and around 6 a bus appears on the other side of the road and the driver tells us we were at the wrong bus stop and he had been to our hotel for us and thought “ I wonder if they are at the other bus stop”( this is why I asked for an address, it seems there was another bus stop on another street outside the same hotel!). Thanks Paulino.The travelling was tiring but we knew what we had signed up to. The trip in total was around 14 hours pick up to drop off and 4 hours in Seville. It’s not enough time to scratch the surface. Dominique was our guide but there was a full bus and she was telling everything in several languages so we left the group and met back up to do the river cruise with those of the group who wanted to do that. Seville seems like somewhere I would like to go and spend a few days at.
