Itinerary

Your air-conditioned coach departs from Piazza del Popolo in Rome for the roughly three-hour drive south to Pompeii.

On arrival, a local guide takes your group through the Archaeological Park, sharing context and insight along the way. The route moves chronologically through the site: the Forum, the Sanctuary of Apollo, and the Macellum market give a sense of the city's civic and commercial life, while the Stabian Baths show how residents used public spaces. Via dell'Abbondanza—one of Pompeii's main streets—and the Lupanar are also included stops.

Next, the tour covers newly excavated areas—sections of the site that have only recently been opened and are not accessible without a guided reservation.

Enjoy free time to buy lunch (own expense) before the return journey to Rome.

Ok but couldn’t keep up with the fast pace

CatherineE, Jul 2026
Travelling with parents in their 80s. Couldn’t keep up with the fast pace of the walk so we dropped off and took it at our own pace. Also we asked for a toilet break but we had to walk a long way (past 1 toilet - told not to use it) before we had the first toilet break after getting off the coach trip.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear the pace of the tour wasn't the right fit for your group. While most guests find the walking pace moderate, we understand that everyone's comfort and mobility levels are different, and guests are always welcome to explore at their own pace if they prefer. We also appreciate your comments regarding the restroom stop. Thank you for traveling with us.

Easy option to visit Pompeii

Carolyn_M, Jun 2026
After approx 3 hour bus trip from Rome we were met by our guide, Elena, who walked us around many of the highlights of Pompeii, pointing out many interesting features that you may otherwise miss if exploring alone. We had about an hour free after the tour to explore a little further if we liked before returning to Rome. It’s a good way to visit Pompeii if you have limited time.
